This is crazy accurate. I'm an 8w9self pres raised by an unhealthy abusive yet loving 8 father and a highly successful 3 mom. Just realising how much repressed emotion I have because of life circumstances and being an over achiever to please my mom. This may be why Im training to work with children through play therapy.

This is so accurate. When I learned that I was an 8, 5 or 6 years ago, it was like reading my lifetime diary. It was brilliant. My mother did the abandoning and my dad didn't do much better. Female 8s have it hard in this world....

Im an 8w7, but I don't have problems with my parents. Yes, my Dad can't show emotions, doesn't talk much, and struggles with showing warmth, but he was and still is always there for me. I know how he shows love. By doing things. That being said, I had a lot of arguments with him growing up as I always questioned his logic, arguments, and decisions. It was often nonsensical to me. I think that and the combination of playing highly competitive sports and living in a relatively tough neighborhood made me an 8.

Bro, you just described me and my dad growing up and I’m a type 8w7 also. My dad had an abusive father growing up so he never really learned to show emotion with me. My dad wasn’t abusive thankfully, he just could never show emotion well or calmly talk me through things. My dad was always there and showed his love by doing things. As a kid though I never could understand why he never talked much. Going on car trips with him was always awkward bc it was a lot of silence. Even holidays with my dad’s side of the family was awkward bc nobody talked at all. Every hobby I took to I had to buy and teach myself, nobody ever talked me into my hobbies. I had a lot of arguments with my dad when I was a teenager, probably just to get him to react and show emotion. I got into the punk rock and skater subculture, when to concerts, dressed like Sid Vicious etc. I’ve always struggled with authority figures, especially silent male ones. I tend to reject them before I think they’ll reject me.

I have my boys and my brain is type and 8 and everything you’ve said is so true. Still to this day I feel like I have to parent my mom. My dad gave his rights up to me when I was 2 and then my mom gave her rights up when I was 10. I would try to help my mom raise my sister whenever she was depressed and I would try to change my little sister and had poop everywhere 😂 I was abandoned a lot growing up. So I struggle a lot with myself and try look for validation from others. Thank you for helping me better understand a bit..

Wow this was so good, made me realize things I didn't even think about. I was an only child for the first 10 years of my life and I wonder if there is any correlation to that for Type 8's. Seems it would make sense. I also had all the abandonment issues after that so I am probably a double 8 LOL #88
@YouveGotaType
@YouveGotaType Жыл бұрын
Glad it resonated with ya! I'm sorry to hear about the abandonment struggles - although you're certainly not alone! I'm not aware of any correlation to 8s being only children - or any other types really. Enneagram patters are more about their connection / disconnection / ambivalence towards their caregivers than siblings.

Can i change my brain type?? I’m what I like to call “lost in the suace” and I’m sick of being at war with myself
@YouveGotaType
@YouveGotaType Жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean by change your brain type? 8s tend to be very clear about what they want, and justify the means later. Based on your other comment about the difficulty in recognizing yourself, and being "lost in the sauce", you may wanna check out the counterphobic 6. Can be equally aggressive as the 8, but far more plagued by mental indecisiveness and anxiety than the more self-assured, often unrealistically confident 8.

Interesting. What do you think of Naranjo's followers saying stuff like "ENTPs can't be 8" and etc?
@YouveGotaType
@YouveGotaType 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard this before, but I assume it comes down to the P vs. J only. 8s definitely have a strong correlation to the ENT portion of MBTI. I'm not rigid when it comes to connecting myers-briggs and the enneagram since they're so different. When I did my videos playing with this connection, I had the ENTP as a "Counter Phobic 6" which ironically looks a lot like an 8 on the surface but has very different internal motivators.

Lots to unpack there with "choosing" that life at such a young age. Our environments always impact our choice, especially while the brain is growing / not fully developed at those ages.

@@YouveGotaType thank you very much, I started watching but don't feel like it's about me: 1) I always do opposite of what society around me does and don't even understand why 2) I never lie because lies is weakness. we lie to those who we are afraid of and I'm always ready to fight 3) I was living in criminal rough neighborhood and my parents used to say it's shame to be perfect because successful people are always hit or used by someone else 4) I don't like money and brands because it's like wearing a golden mask and hiding your real face 5) I don't think about career too much, it's more important to release potential of me and people around me. making money distracts from your real way Your channel is the best about enneatypes but I still struggle with understanding, could you please say, I still can't be a 8?

@@JuliaOstrovok Those 5 points are definitely helpful to know. The only other possibility I would say would be a counterphobic Type 6 (they get confused for 8s all the time but have totally different motives in life). Type 6 Guide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJTNhItqpq2Vb7s

@@YouveGotaType thank you, it sounds much more true than a 3. but I've always thought 6 is more about ISTJ.. or ISFJ.. isn't being ENFP + 6 type at the same time contradictionally? 🤔
@YouveGotaType
@YouveGotaType Жыл бұрын
@@JuliaOstrovok I wouldn't worry about aligning MBTI to the Enneagram. They're such fundamentally different systems, and 6s in particular are very paradoxical people that have seemingly contradictory traits at the same time.
