12 gauge shotgun: my favorite subject. Only gun I need. I have shells for squirrel up to Cape buffalo.

Personally Im would not mind watching a podcast on slugs🤷♂️. Also another podcast suggestion would be history of each type of firearms (shotguns, bolt action rifle, semi auto rifles, and pistols) through the present and maybe cover evolution of those guns and the general improvements that have been. Also maybe where each host see the future of those guns going🤷♂️. Just a thought for a few podcast suggestions for you guys.

The NSSF survey isn’t the only survey ever done. I live in Alaska and there is very good data whether it be waterfowl or raptors that lead poisoning occurs more often during hunting season etc. Love the channel though. Great conversation.

1:09:50 Brass height doesn't matter... it's 100% cosmetic... In the past, it was a way to ID heavy Vs. lite loads, but has never performed any function beyond that. It's the same as the color of the hull. You can pick one just because you like the way it looks, or to differentiate between your loads... If you guys are going to give out info and advise, you should probably dig a hair deeper than "my uncle's friend told me when I was 12"... just sayin...

Over sized bores on shot guns and not "back bored", they are "over bored"... Back boring is a process for resetting and protecting the crown of a rifle.

I've heard the same comment on shot column length for using 28 guage for wingshooting versus 12 gauge.

@lwgsl agreed, I keep my self defense shotgun loaded with 12 gauge #4 buckshot magnum shells. Thats essentially 41, 24. caliber pellets. I cant imagine any person or animal walking away from that.

Down in Louisiana only things we can't shoot lead at is ducks and geese everything else is fair game. I pretty much shoot 2 3/4" high brass #6 or #7 lead shot for rabbit and squirrels. 3" #4 or #6 hevi-shot for ducks, geese and turkeys. 2 3/4" low brass #7 1/2 for doves and 3" 00 buckshot 15 pellet for coyotes. None of those combos will let you down but we don't have any pheasant or grouse down here and those are birds I've always wanted to go hunt.

Enjoying shotguns more as im growing older always have loved my rifles. I own 3 shotguns now a side by side .410 , a lever action 12ga28" shot gun and a straight pull pistol grip 12ga20" shottie. Always go full choke no. 4 birdshot 2 3/4 inch high brass for rabbits and hare out to 70 meters. I am short and the .410 and 20"12ga fit me way better than the 12g with the 28 inch barrel but that's good for the longer field shots. I have a stoeger and two Adler guns. Don't hunt birds only rabbits and foxes. Atm got no.2 ssg buckshot for foxeswithin fifty meters.

My dad before he passed gave me a single shot 10 gage the barrel is full chocked. I don’t hunt birds. Outside of maybe deer hunting, I’m not sure what to use the gun for. That gun kicks harder that any gun I own, I hate shooting it.

The lead shot legislation was passed because of 1 bird, the California Condor a carrion eating bird in 1990. Its success has been negligible as lead levels in the birds hasn't seen a drop thru the 2010s. However they have since banned lead in all hunting ammo in California in 2013, so maybe it will change. The condors have been brought back in numbers by captive and wild breeding from 22 in 1988 to over 504 in 2019. Lead levels in other birds were negligible .
