The moment you say to yourself “I’m not hungry for that” means you aren’t hungry. I always keep some boiled eggs, cooked bacon and hamburger patties in my fridge and if I feel hungry after my omad I got to the fridge and if none of those 3 foods look appetizing then I know I’m not hungry snd go for a walk to take a long bath.

@@louisacapell try other meats or dairy. Different flavors or textures can help that. It happened to me twice where no carnivore foods were appetizing at all so I just tasted until they did which was only about 2-3 days.

Here are my personal tips for struggling with hunger pain: First, try drinking a big cup of water with some electrolytes in it. This is what I did when I felt hungry when I first started Keto and fasting. It’s amazing how drinking that water helped reduce those hunger pains and cravings. Most likely your hunger pains are from the release of hormone ghrelin and you have to push through it because it’s a learned response - like Pavlov’s dog. We are trained to eat certain times of the day or when certain things trigger a response. That hormone doesn’t mean you are hungry, but that you have been conditioned to eat. The more you resist that hormone’s dominance over your diet, the more it will go away. I’ve had to learn not to believe my body when it demands food. I have plenty of fat stored up and my sugar is stable, so I am ok and I won’t starve. I remind myself that it is ok to be hungry and this feeling will go away. And then I drink water with electrolytes or do an activity to get my mind off the hunger and it goes away. Learning to trust that your body is ok is difficult. If you are not sure if you “need” food or if you are just conditioned to eating it at certain times or at certain amounts, test your blood sugar and make sure your electrolytes and hydration are balanced. Make sure you are sugar is stable. If there is no medical reason to eat, your body is ok even when it is hungry, so tell that hunger pain to go take hike - you are not going to listen to it anymore.

Me too! But I never had any problems with falling asleep. I go to bed rather late, between midnight and one o'clock but the minute I hit my head on the pillow, I'm fast asleep and wake refreshed at six a.m. sharp. I don't find I need more sleep than that. If I try to go to bed earlier, I wake up at 3 a.m. and fret and worry over everything and nothing till it's time to wake up.

Carbohydrates cause craving and there is no end to eating them. It’s as they used to say about “Chinese food” you are hungry 30 minutes later (bc of the rice and sugar sauces). Pro hotdog eating contestants will have a snickers when they can’t eat more hotdogs, and they get a second stomach from it. This is why, no matter where you go, you can’t order food without cheap as dirt biscuits, breadsticks, fry’s, chips, etc are “free” (because you will eat more and you will be happy from it, it will give you your carbohydrate fix.

I always eat unsweetened bakers chocolate now (if I eat chocolate at all). It does take some getting use to because it is bitter, but just like with black coffee, you acquire a taste for it after a while. I tried eating a piece of Ghirardelli’s 90% dark a while ago and almost spit it out. Yuck. It didn’t taste good to me at all anymore. I wanted the unsweetened chocolate.

I was not raised having desserts except holidays or special occasions. As an adult I started treating myself more often. On keto have not had any. If I were to eat a “keto friendly” dessert that would just make me want the real thing more so it’s not on my list of edibles. Two weeks ago gave up my HS snack of 1 oz nuts-first time in almost 50 yrs. I replaced it with Sleeptime tea without sweeteners.

Excellent video! You went in a completely different direction than I thought you were going! Having dessert after dinner was a hard habit for me to break, and there's still a desire there but it's more for a change of taste in my mouth than something to eat. A mint or a cup of tea with a little cream usually solves that.

@@JJ-jl1ge I don’t know about steamed egg pudding, but I make keto egg custard. I heat 2 1/2 cups of milk (mixed with heavy whipping cream) until it scalds. Beat 4 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla with 1 cup stevia and pour them slowly into the hot milk while whisking. Transfer mixture into custard cups Sprinkle with nutmeg and bake at 475 for the first five minutes, then turn the oven down to 400 and cook for 20-25 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Cool. Makes 6 small custard cups.Cover and keep in refrigerator until eaten

Dessert - also RECREATIONAL MEALS - are ALL about emotions!! “Dessert” is what you do AFTER you have met your nutritional needs. YES!!! Get out and walk. Dance. MOVE. When my husband and I got rid of the carb addiction (that time when we would get off the couch and go into town at 9PM to meet our “dealers” Haagen and Dazs :)) - you couldn’t dynamite us out of the house now. BUT, I am still having a problem with my husband and “recreational meals” - he over does it. Messes up his clean stomach. We’re working on this problem and I think he’ll get it as I have, but it’s this ridiculous attitude that eating sugar - too much is EVER ok. It’s not. A little meth, a little heroin, a little alcohol for an alcoholic is NEVER ok. And that’s OK. Bad is bad. Cancer LOVES sugar. Think about and love yourself enough to do what is best for you ALL the time! ❤️🙏🏻

Since discovering you, I realized I am a foodaholic not merely a carboholic. I HAVE to eat as late in the day as possible, b/n 8-10 pm, because once I give myself permission to eat, the floodgates open. But I've had bariatric surgery, my amount of intake may be limited, but too much time before sleep can be my enemy. So, I'm now going to combine 1 raw egg, a portion of ground uncooked beef liver, and ground beef into a hamburger patty to consume with a choice of fat. I'm also going to figure out how to do this with an egg, small fish and salmon or tuna. My body feels WONDERFUL at 179lbs. (down from 292lbs.) but my ONLY goal has always been an A1c of below 5.0 and as of last week, it's 6.0. My most recent HOMA-IR score went from 2.27 (4 months ago) to 1.17 as of last week. I believe if my body sheds more weight, I can achieve my goal of no more metformin (chose to resume 2 months ago based on a vid by you) and bg readings in the 80's or lower. Great video, Robert. I go for a 20 minute walk. If I'm still feeling like dessert, I eat bacon until my body tells me to stop. It usually means I didn't eat enough for dinner.

I also try to not eat anything with calories after 4 PM, sometimes 5 PM, but usually after 4. A lot of the time, I like to make my last calories just a decaf coffee with heavy cream. I actually love doing that.

My dessert is a cup of green tea with stevia. I used to have a peanut butter sandwich (keto "friendly" bread) for dessert, but I save those for a couple times per week now for my 2nd meal with chix or beef broth. Works for me in a lot of ways.

My great grandfather always said, I eat my dessert first because I may not live through dinner to enjoy it! Ironically, he died of a cerebric hemorrhage, so dessert is everything to me as well. God rest his soul because he knew how to enjoy life.💙

Ya, funny one, hey? A keto chocolate mousse set me back a month on sugar cravings. We do not need sweet. Unless it is a piece of fruit. I have guavadillas growing in my garden and one in Greek joghurt is refreshing, tart and delicious. But it doesn't make me want more.

@@robertcywes2966 Right. Be wary. But if it's grown in my garden, is eaten seasonally and occasionally, I beware. And eat it. I never binged on fruit, ever. But in the past could eat a whole melktert

Yes it is required some days. Thanks for agreeing with me doc. 🤪 Keto magic spoon (only one that isn’t crap) cereal and rebel ice cream. Only when I’m losing too much weight. I wouldn’t if I needed to lose more weight. I got this.

You are forgetting the best dessert: sexual relations. Have dinner. Relax. Take a shower. Then a hour or two long sexual relation session to release stress, burn up more calories, and off to sleep like baby. Many people eat because they do not have sexual relations or because they have bad sexual relations. Or are bored with their partner. Find a great partner, enjoy life and then urgency of food is removed. Adrenaline is the best to curb hunger. Ever thought about food while on a rollercoaster? Ever thought about food while being robbed at gunpoint?

One of the issues with keto deserts is that we, poor mortals, usually had to use "cheap" sugar alcools, like xilitol or eritritol. I end up eating yoo much desert and almost dying after. You cant eat too much of those
