You would like to understand the benifits of swapping an engine in a car? This video will show you the worked example between the 2 Toyota Engines: 1ZZ-FE and the 2ZZ-GE. In this video I compare them graphically having tested both engines in identical circumstances/conditions.
You want to see factual differences in both these engines' performance?
You still need convincing on the fact if swapping your engine in your Toyota Mr2 (Mr2 Spyder, MR-S) is the right choice to make?
I am pretty confident that this video will help you make your choices.
By using a Dynpack Dyno I will show you how both engines compare when overlaying both their dyno performances.
In my personal opinion, this engine is ideal if you like how the current engine feels but you want extra top en power. There is no loss in torque when comparing the 2zz to the 1zz. Even in the low RPM range. How ever up top I was shocked by the difference. Both engines ran at the same ambient temperatures and the gain of the 100% stock 2zz was more than 54HP compared to the 1ZZ that already had a sport exhaust fitted to it.

Just watched your KZbin of the LSD swap from 5sp to C60. Q1. Can a Torsen LSD standard from a C65-01B transmission be swapped to a C60 gbox? Currently I am having real difficulty with my C60 6Speed (ex 2001 Celica g/box - 125k kms) in my 2zzge MR2 Spyder when cold, difficulty selecting 1st & mainly 2nd on both upshot & downshift. Most times 2nd cannot be selected at all when cold. Q2. Could this be largely due to worn synchros?, Q3. As I still have the C65-01B (ex SMT g/box originally in my 1zz & converted to MT) can the C65-01B with Torsen LSD be used to 2zzge? NB.I know from comparing the gear ratio specifications that essentially the ratios are mostly the same as C60, but preferred the 5th & 6th ratios from the C65-01B as they're better for touring. I dont race or track the car & don't really use the top speed / lift. Previously the C65-01B gbox had no selection issues in the 1ZZFE even though it has >175k kms on it.

Hi! Thanks for your comment. Regarding your questions: Q1: All I can say is that there doesn’t seem to be a differentiation for LSDs in the OS Giken catalog between c60 transmissions. They should be the same. Which means yes. Q2: yes. But maybe you are not using the correct oil too! Q3: If your transmission is a 6speed C60xxx transmission, I don’t see why it wouldn’t fit. Also check if your gear selector mechanism/conversion has been done correctly. Check my transmission prep videos, this will give you a step by step way to do it correctly 👍🏼

I'm interested what's the budget for the engine swap as there are less 2zz engines in europe compared to the us? I am planning on doing the swap for my 2000 toyota celica in the future aswell. Looking forward to seeing how your build works out!

Un 2ZZ-GE à 8200 tours/min, y'a pas grand chose de mieux... tu conseillerais la Corolla TS comme 1ère?

Le moteur est incroyable. C'est le fruit d'une belle collaboration entre Toyota (le bloc) et Yamaha pour la Culasse. Il est incroyable ce moteur. D'ailleur le moteur que l'on entends dans mes intros est exactement ce moteur. Pour une première voiture, la corolla ou la Celica sont de très bonnes voitures. Surement que la corolla sera un poile moins cher que la Celica.

@@JesseSpec J'avais deviné pour l'intro, j'hésitais entre un K20 et le 2ZZ mais à haut régimes j'ai reconnu la sonorité du 2ZZ :) J'ai l'oreille pour ça! D'occase les Corolla TS tournent à 5500 - 6000 chf avec 120'000 km. Les Celica sont pas mal plus chères, faudrait encore pouvoir en trouver une soignée et sans modifs trop conséquentes :-/ Sinon, je considère les Yaris TS (1NZ-FE 105 cv pour 950 kg), en espérant d'y mettre un 2ZZ un jour... Mais merci pour tes réponses ! C'est très apprécié. J'attends avec impatience la prochaine vidéo.

@@JesseSpec Oh mais c'est pas faux du tout du tout du touuuuut... elles grimpent en prix en plus! Je vais activer les notifs sur AutoScout24 immédiatement pour les MR2 Spyder. Si la bonne voiture apparait, je la prends tout de suite :D

I just have to say the power lost to the wheels in a fwd car is cloesr to 10-15% and thats with the wheels on. 18% is what rwd cars loose with the wheels on. If you do your calculations correctly and research right you will learn that only the lotus 2zz engines made 190 hp and all the others made 180hp or less depending on the year. The overinflated numbers your showing are very inaccurate so it might be best to just show the actual hp you made to the hubs which without the losses from wheels would be closer to 8 to 11%. If i recalculate your numbers you actually made 162 to the hubs which if you multiply by 11% makes the actual 180 the 2zz should make. Granted your losses are a bit less than 11% but the engine is used and will be down a hp or 2 further proving my figures to be more accurate.

Thanks for your input. I see you got triggered by the transmission loss. In Europe we just like to have an Engine power figure… you must be from the US. Thats funny, we get more often 25% as a benchmark for ff cars in transmission loss. Where do yOu base your claims on? In what country are you? US? I am Switzerland and our cars are officially registered at 192hp. US Spec is not like the EU Spec. We run with 98 octane, more like in Japan. To be honest the numbers seem very realistic. But even then, if you feel like disputing the transmission factor loss I use, thats your choice. Whats important in the end is using that transmission loss accross the board on all the runs and pulls I did after that basemark. To determine the gain. Who gives a damn about the end number? Its the gain we want to see. This is my first video, you will see there are litteraly a hundred more videos I posted and probably 30-40about the 2zz. Give them a watch and tell me what you think.
