Just run one engine for one lap), Remove fuel flow rate limit. pre-chamber ignition, Morden aero 2004 chassis, DRS, 2022 width slick soft, KERS. With only 2 laps of fuel. Moveable areo parts(front wing? Bargeboard) Double DRS, Double defuser. So 2000+ horse power? 660 KG? With ridiculous down force? LOL Edit: So let me sort it out again. 2004 chassis. 3.2L V10 split tubo(unlimited air/fuel flow rate) . engine that only last one lap. Impove the front wing and bargeboards a little bit.(like the 2020 cars, use turbulence to seal the floor better). No size limit on the rear diffuser. pre-chamber ignition. Slick tyre. Tiny fuel tank(lighter). Just make the whole rear wing DRS then(hyper car style).

Thats because of the ridiculous cost of current engines. 1 turbo hybrid costs the same as about 20 NA V10s. If you really want to extract maximum power from the V6 Turbo Hybrid, remove the hybrid system because it quite literally does not do anything, its just a political statement. We've had Turbo V6s in the past produce 1600 hp. However most would prefer NA V10s that give instant feedback, are cheaper and sound heavenly

I think there are 2 big reasons why the modern cars seem slower: 1) safety features. Self explanatory 2) refueling. The v10 car doesn’t have a fuel tank in the right size. If these cars raced as is and the v10 had to refuel… well the outcome would be a lot less dramatic
@adenabbas76842 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, since quali laps are done with very very low fuel and the weight of a mostly empty fuel tank could only give a tenth of time so ralfs lap was fast af, and even in game at the last laps the cars are significantly lighter with low fuel loads
@TheOtherNeutrino Жыл бұрын
One thing to note about the 2004 regs that the F2004 was running with is the fact that they qualify with thr fuel load they start the race with. The F2004 can be outqualified with low fuel glory runs on Saturday. Its not uncommon for the fastest race lap to be faster than the car's qualifying lap back then.

This may not be 100% accurate, but here goes. Kimi's pole (F2008) in Spain on the grooved tyres was a 1:21.813. That was with fuel. Massa set the fastest lap that weekend in Q2 1:20.584 with low fuel. The same year Ferrari tested the slicks during testing in Spain and recorded a time of 1:18.339. That's 2.2 seconds faster than the grooved tyres on Bridgestone Slicks. Also the Qualifying lap times improved in 2011 when Pirelli joined the sport. My guess would be that the V10s would be anywhere from 2.5 - 3 seconds a lap faster on slicks. Think the 2020 cars would still be a bit faster, but it's still amazing how great cars were from 18 years ago.

they weren't necessarily great, you have to realize that most of why those v10 cars can even bring a candle to 2020 cars is because of the low weight. everything else is drastically superior, from the engine output to the aerodynamics, you name it, they got it. had the regulations in 2020 been as lenient as those in 2004, (no halo, low weight, traction control, no fuel flow limit) those 2004 lap times would be absolutely annihilated.

The biggest advantage to these older cars is the smaller size and weight. The V10 sounds so much cooler but it doesn’t really make more power. Basically about the same but the new cars are so much bigger, they’re going to be slower. The new engines definitely don’t rev as high either. Fuel economy wasn’t a concern back then, now it’s very important. These engines now have to last longer too, also most likely taking away some performance in exchange for reliability.

It’s quite ironically how F1 the pinnacle of motor sports instead of going faster with their innovations are just getting bigger, bulkier and slower with every year.

I miss the exotic V10 and 12’s, more dangerous? Yes, twice much fun to watch ? Hell yes.

You’re shifting too early. These engines rev so high that you have to re-train your ear to wait till it gets higher than you’re used to

I would love to see the duel between the 2 fastest cars ever F2004 vs Mercedes w11 Merc. Have the record in the Tracks but the Ferrari with new ruber Will be amazing in that time the tyres last the whole race

The old 2004 Ferrari still has a few race lap records like at Monza.
@nateellis90962 жыл бұрын
@@aronwhitesell9427 well ya it’s been proven that monza is an engine lap while the w11 was a downforce and grip car so that doesn’t surprise me if you race them on let’s say silver stone w11 would win
@aronwhitesell94272 жыл бұрын
@@nateellis9096 you're probably right but put the 2004 cars on slicks, it would be close. Alonso said that slicks on the old cars would gain about 4 seconds a lap.

wait, so you're telling me, that a guy that hasnt raced an F1 car for 14 years, beat most of the current f1 grip, with a de-tuned F1 car?

i sincerely hope when the sustainable fuels come in in iirc 2026, that we can go back to running v10's again, probably newer v10's but still. can you imagine modern aerodynamics, DRS and all the other improvements over the years and then putting a screaming v10 with probably >1000 hp in the car, that's gonna be euphoric!
@ShadowWalker-ng1it2 жыл бұрын
bringing back v10s would probably slow the cars down if teams still had to try to respect a engine allocation to which they are already struggling with so no just based on budget.

There’s a reason the 2003 Italian GP is still the fastest race of all time. And that reason is refuelling.
@eEnzo0 Жыл бұрын
Try doing that again without TC. DRS may help the way heavier cars of today in a straight line (to compensate the weight difference) but they lose badly in the corners against F2004 because they can't put the power down as hard as you do with TC Active.

We have to keep ralf´s time in perspective. While it is true, that his 1:08.170 would be the third fastest during the race, he would have been 20th out of 21 in fp1, last by over a second in quali on friday, first by half a second on fp2, and would be the fastest race lap in sprint
@UUUU-dn9wz2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but +100hp alone would cut the time by at least 3 seconds, and that’s without mentioning demo tyres and the fact that the F2004 was over a second faster by itself compared to the rest of the field.
@YTaccNo32 жыл бұрын
we also have to keep in mind that ralf was never a tremendously fast driver and even if he was he wouldnt be pushing as you would push a hotlap in qualifying
@ukrje2 жыл бұрын
@@UUUU-dn9wz Oh yes of course, i would not go against the fact that an f2004 is simply faster than any modern f1 car. On some tracks probably even with grooved tires. Just wanted to point outr that ralf wasn´t quite as fast as most believe.

@@ukrje yeah that’s true, 1:08 by itself is not impressive for a f1 car
@mauropagliaro50682 жыл бұрын
Sorry but are we sure that Ralph pulled a 1:08? Because I've seen the video and he doesn't seem to be pushing that hard. The breaking point he uses is too early compared to nowadays cars. And I know that the aero charge is different, but he seems to be lifing so before the turn.... Then, the pole position from 03 (last year V10 f1 cars visited the A1 ring) is 1:09 and the fastest lap of the race 1:08 (both of them by MSC)... I'm afraid that it's too optimistic to get 1:08 in an exhibition event.
