Your Taycan is probably charging slow cos the car has to up-convert 400V from the charger to 800V for the battery pack, and porsche equip a 50kW converter as standard. Unless you paid extra for the upgrade, that's what you'll have. You'll get the same problem on all 400V chargers, so stick to 800V chargers for the trip if you don't want it to take all week to get there 🙂 For france i would recommend getting an account and RFID chip from Freshmile. Sorry to say that a lot of french chargers (especially AC) won't activate from an app, so the RFID is really useful.

To travel to Spain don't forget you need a hi viz jacket 1 each for each occupant, 2 warning triangles. Also a first aid kit and France wants a breathalyser kit as well. A visit to Halfords is essential. In Spain you also required to have breakdown cover.Technically you are not allowed to change a wheel on the Motorway. If you get out of the vehicle in Spain for an accident or breakdown the first thing to do is Put on your hi viz jacket. so it must be accessible. Same with your 2 warning triangles, keep them accessible. (Don't forget to check the pressure of your spare wheel! )There also far too many cowboy breakdown operators who will charge you thousands to get you off the motorway. Breakdown cover prevents getting caught by the cowboys. Good luck with your journey!

You should check for a nice spot around 2/3 of the way, in case Lee is once again so far behind he has to give up before making it to the finish.

The hospital car park that has band Electric Vehicles until a new sprinkler system is fitted, what? Didn’t anybody tell them water is useless to put out an electric car fire as it’s not a normal fire, it’s a chemical fire completely different to a petrol or diesel fire in which case a sprinkler system would work on putting out an internal combustion engine fire. Who is in charge of this car park? They have been very badly mislead.
@joetheox120212 күн бұрын
Didn't anyone tell you sprinkler systems don't contain just water? What makes you think they'd charge the system with water when they know what type of fire it's designed to fight? You've either been mislead yourself or you've just had a guess.

@@joetheox1202 Many thanks for your comments. Problem is whatever liquid is being used in the sprinkler system it is totally useless, there is nothing that can put out a chemical reaction fire unless you have new information?
@VisorView12 күн бұрын
@@alanhowemusic2457 You are of course quite correct.
@waynekaminski543811 күн бұрын
@@joetheox1202 Water is used to attempt to cool down the battery pack so that thermal runaway does not take place. However, no sprinkler system can supply the water volume necessary. So, the hospital is barking up the wrong tree to think that upgrading the fire suppression sprinkler system is adequate to "put out" a lithium-ion battery thermal runaway. All the system can do is try to keep the fire confined to the EV (not spreading to other combustible infrastructure) while praying that professional firefighters show up in time to manage the EV fire. EV fires present a real logistical problem reaching such EVs parked inside multiple story or underground parking structures, so it has to be on the parking structure owners to use advanced infrared fire detection systems. These systems can enhance emergency response capabilities (quick to detect the fire and call out fire departments) and also on battery pack manufacturers to come up with packs that are hardened enough to prevent punctures or electric current malfunction that are the usual source of EV fires.

BEVs use in the American west for travel isn't viable. Try driving from Boise Idaho to Las Vegas with a BEV and let me know how it works out. 😆

Electric Classic Cars just did a 2000 mile European road trip in 2 electric Ferraris. Having been to France and Spain many times, the charging infrastructure out there is much better than the UK and much cheaper too. But lets see how numpty boy Lee makes a hash of it. 🤣
