A whole lot of talent on that stage...

It's wonderful fun to watch both pairs of brothers having so much fun playing these songs. The drummer is Gerry's older brother, Fred. You rarely get to see him cracking up on camera (and really rocking out on his kit) like this. It all seems so spontaneous. Poor Don.

The Everly Brothers really could sing anything! They sounded better than Gerry and the Pacemakers when they sang their songs! They sounded great no matter what they sang. Just absolute genius. Their two voices together couldn't go wrong. This was fun to watch, happy times back in the day. We really were so lucky! RIP Phil. Thanks for the music always and forever. Don, condolences and stay strong.

No you give me a break! Did you even bother to listen to the video? I am here to celebrate the Everly Brothers and pay tribute to two great musicians who helped create rock and roll! I have nothing against Gerry and the Pacemakers but this is about Phil and Don Everly!

What professionals! Don captured Jerry's lead perfectly--same intonation, same enunciation--and these guys were such pros that they weren't put them off trying this gag. It wasn't as easy as they make it look. Jerry probably learned to sing, at least in part, by singing the EB hits, but Don and Phil would have had to work on things a bit because they had not sung the other band's songs before. Does anyone know if Jerry Marsden ever commented on this event in later years?

This has to have been the first time a singer recceives a bloody nose on a T.V. show! But they show a sense of humor here.

The Everlys needed songs like this. They should have been on Topeka of the charts during this period.

This is such a priceless piece of video and history. ( Phil and Don will forever be number one.) And, my nose hurts every time I watch this! They all were having a great time even though Don must have been seeing stars! Thank you for this.

For those who don't know, this starts with Don and Phip's version of Gerry and the Pacemakers' first UK No 1, How Do You Do It, then the compliment is returned with Bye Bye Love, Don and Phil then do I Like It, the second UK No 1 for the Liverpool lads, who then do a bit of Be Bop A Lulu before Gerry eventually gets to the front of the stage with the Everlys for Pretend. This is a marvellous clip.

Love the Everly Brothers. I was born in the same part of Kentucky they originated from, and their cousin was my mom's pastor growing up. So there's that special connection

Who could not love those faces? I always loved Gerry and the Pacemakers, but now that I get to "see" Don and Phil, there is no contest. They say a woman is affected by sound and a man by sight. That's not always true, at least for a female. Give us sight and sound and you can't lose. Thanks for this video.

Your generation throws down, son. Most open-minded, free-thinking people ever. Going to save the world and make it look easy. And yeah, nothing beats vinyl. I grew up listening to my dad's early rocknroll records on his kickass hifi, and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. The crackle between the songs, the anticipation, the richness of the sound.

@ Cavanfan _ Gerry and the Pacemakers were not "copyists" They wrote some great music and early on were considered the best group in the British invasion.... ahead of the Beatles and the Stones. Not a "crap band" at all, they wrote and played great music. This is a wonderful video reflecting a magical and important time in popular music. Thanks for sharing.

I know I'm onto this vid a bit late but... great. Never seen or heard of it before. "Pretend"? Version we all copied (as here) is by Carl Mann. Carl seemed ro specialise in "rock" version of "oldies". Proper oldies that is. "Pretend" was one of his hits as was "Mona Lisa". Similar treatment and another recorded earlier by Nat King Cole. Thanks for this one...
