Agreed, informs people on how to make good choices based on what is truly needed and wants. Very nice choice for family vehicle, that you can still have fun in.

add to that the style of music they chose and generally choose for different intros/outros and different transitions. It's really refreshing feeling connected with the guys more than just consuming content like so many other youtube channels which are awesome don't get me wrong. I just love the down to earth, friendly neighbor vibe I get from Paul and Todd sharing their personal stories and life events in relation to something we all love: cars. This video was a perfect example of that

100%, but, when you hop into the car for the first time you feel absolutely hopelessly lost. You feel like a boomer using a computer. It's bad, but not a knock because as an owner you'll get used to it.

I remember in the early 80s when my high school friend's dad got a second gen Prelude, which my friend drove as much as the dad did. That row of buttons along the dash was so nice and actuated vents with just a press. It was a whole different world of luxury to me after years of big, ugly knobs that were stiff to turn, and felt gravely and imprecise. I ended up with my own later gen Acuras and Preludes, and my current F30 3 series still has the same basic, simple push button layout. I don't want screens, or at least more than I have already. If I needed to replace the BMW, I'd probably do like Todd and just try to get a new, better version of what I have, and mainly just for the buttons and lack of screens in general.

Hi, from Japan!! I always think you are a good husband and a good dad. You really put importance on how your wife feel for new family car. You really think things for her. Not only this time, you mention about your family in your films occasionally. I always can feel how much you love your family. I really love Everyday Driver because you and Paul are nice person. I like that you mentioned "knowing it's history". That's why I kept my 2000 Subaru Legacy Wagon until last year. I was the original owner, so I knew every detail of it's history. Even though I had to have the engine rebuilt for thousands of dollars one time, which cost a lot more than the car was even worth after it was fixed, it still felt better spent than trying to get an unknown used car for around the same cost.

As someone still daily driving their 2002 Outback, I'm with you on this. I can't replace the 17 year history I have with the car, and I know my own maintenance was fastidious.

My wife and currently own a 2012 Cayenne S hybrid premium package plus. We bought it at 120k miles for 20k it only had two owners and one was my father in law. We knew the history of the SUV so we felt comfortable purchasing with that mileage and it has been the best and one of the most reliable cars we have owned. It still had the Porsche CPO warranty for another year when we bought it. And we have put about 100k miles in the three years we have owned. We’ve really only had two surprise repairs so far a thermostat and vacuum lines and the check valve on the vacuum pump. The oil changes are so easy on these cars I do them myself but we have changed certain parts preemptively as to avoid surprise fixes down the road all in all in three it’s cost about 13k to maintain and fix, the most expensive being when we had to deal with the vacuum issues coming in at around 4500$ but got a entire new vacuum system and then fixed a lot of other things like coolent hoses that showed signs of age had slight cracking. And we had a button for window control break so we bought a new door console for it. We have coil overs instead of airbags so never worried there. All in all nothing else drives like it. Thought about trying Mercedes or Maserati but the Cayenne is just over all amazing drive. And not to much gone wrong at high mileage and still get 28mpg combined or 32-36mpg on highway depending on if it’s mountains or open road

I also upgraded from a 955 Cayenne S that we owned for 10 years and went to a 958 Cayenne S. Went from 16 mpg avg in the 955 to now we see 22-24 mpg with the new DFI engine in the 958. I also could not see myself in anything else other than a Porsche. In the SUV world, I love how they handle and feel rock solid. Great choice and congrats!

I bought a 957 2008 Cayenne GTS July of '21 and it has been my daily driver ever since. It's a great vehicle but I have put alot into maintenance and mods😅. Funny thing is my wife also loves it and wants her own, a 958. We are looking at either the EHybrid like you or the diesel. Let everyone know how it goes after a year, very curious 😂.

"I am the guy with two black Porsche Cayennes." Come on... If it's so great, then relax and enjoy it! I wouldn't mind at all if I was the guy with two blue Honda Accord Wagons. And the best part: BUTTONS! I love buttons! Screens are cute, but complicated, distracting, and unpractical. Buttons are simple and they just do the job - which is what you want when you're driving. Thanks for another excellent video!

My wife drove a 958 Cayenne for nearly 10 years. She loved it. Too bad you didn’t go for the diesel like we had, but TBH, the E Hybrid is great and you do get the updated PCM. We replaced her Cayenne with….another Cayenne. Lol. ‘23 E Hybrid. Loving it so far. Like you, we haven’t gotten rid of our old one. The ONLY reason I am considering getting rid of it is because if we do keep it, my son will be driving it. And that’s just not right for a 16 year old with a fresh license. Lol. Enjoy yours! The 958 is fantastic to drive!

I would first like to thank you and your team for providing some of the most unbiased and knowledge-fulfilling information to the viewer as there can be! I like listening to the insight, bright and colorful humor, and deep librarian-ist conversations. Can I ask for you and your co-host to bring a discussion of how you see the change over to electric-powered vehicles will change the landscape of the "family trip"? I have watched many of your channel's videos on cross-country treks, and that is something I do with my family on an annual basis. And it brings an uneasy feeling that as we transition to electric vehicles, the idea of being able to travel to remote locations and thru all climates... will become the next dinosaur of the past. With shorter ranges, less available grid networks, and frankly- not being able to safely get away from the beaten path to venture into the unknown, without fear of the vehicle dying and leaving us stranded. Or, using our precious battery life to keep warm in the middle of night, while we sleep under the stars, will be a balance of frostbite or driving home. You can imaging the many scenarios that this dilemma can raise an eye brow. Thanks again - enjoy the journeys and I look forward to the new adventures on the way! Cheers

Your original Cayenne series inspired me to purchase my 2012 Cayenne S 2 years ago. We've had her for 2 years and 30k km, and it's been a dream to drive with no big issues. We were lucky to buy an example that had the transfer case replaced direct from Porsche at the beginning of our ownership, but I'm curious to see your experience with that. I hear the hybrid/diesel doesn't have the transfer case issues that the normal models do. They really are great cars with engineering magic to make it drive like it does.

I’ve been looking forward to this Cayenne “installment”. You gave me the confidence to buy a 2020 base last weekend! Got rid of a wrangler I’d owned for 10 years and 100k. Moving from jeep to Porsche is like moving from Piper cub to F-18. I’d prefer fewer bells and whistles, but they are fun to have as long as they are working well. Specifically chose a base over platinum to avoid a few more potential issues and to have 19” wheels. Having minimal sidewall on a truck that may see some rougher roads just makes zero sense. At least you have a spare! Audi removes them leaving the owner with the need for cell phone, Towing membership and prayer. Well done review. Thank you.

There are some advantages to owning cars from the same brand. I own 3 cars from a single brand and have owned plenty of them previously. I've always been treated well at every dealership for this brand, built good relationships with parts people, and have been very pleased with how these cars drive and handle family and racecar duties. Sometimes, you just shouldn't change what you enjoy and is working well to begin with.

Very good choice, that thing is very solid and reliable. Also love the design of this generation, it's much much better then the 1.gen. Youll be happy with this for a long time! Cayenne are like a Swiss army knife. You can do basically anything you want. Pretty hard offloading (with the right tires), daily communiting, driving very sporty at the push of a button. Watching your video: get the Rennline Magnetic mount. Mounts the phone up next to the PCM, looks great. You can get a magnetic wireless charger for it if yo7 have a compatible phone. Also, check out the storage hidden on the front of the seats! Consider selling those wheels and getting the 20’s. The tires are much more reasonable and blowout proof.

LOVE IT. Great choice. The Cayenne has, is, and always will be a great vehicle. And I’m a firm believer that if you own a car you like, and it has suited you well, upgrading to the newer version instead of switching to something totally different is always a good idea. (Plus I’ve always had Jeeps and German cars, so clearly I’m a fan of “evolutionary” car design, and I’m not into the “revolutionary” redesign other brands do to their cars every few years- that feels cheap.) Black is also my fav color choice so yet again, your choice is right up my alley lol.

I'm excited you have a new family car that Kate loves. However, I hope the coming months and years don't sour your love and enjoyment of it. I had 4 of these Hybrid Cayennes in my fleet as a Fleet Manager at my last job, and all 4 of them were basket cases. Each one of them had fewer miles than the one you purchased, and each one their hybrid systems failed multiple times, bricking the vehicle. Each one also consumed oil like it was candy. For the fleet I managed, they were not great. Hopefull, your experience is vastly better than mine.

I did the same car sin as well - I went from a 2010 370z sport to a 2017 370z Nismo. In the end - it was one of the best 'all around sports cars' to me and provided enough differences in the cosmetic as well as having the recaros to make it worth it. But yeah, I do recommend the same thing - never go with the same car as you had before bc you'll regret it.

@everydaydriver Todd, great helpful review on used Cayennes! I like all your details, prices and comparisons to each of the cayennes. Coincidentally three years ago from yours and Paul's recommendation that you liked Volvos I bought a 2010 Volvo xc60 v6 engine white with tan interior 160k miles for $10k for my wife and she loved driving it. Then my 18 year old daughter needed a car so she now drives that 2010 volvo and loves driving it. Then in October 2022 I found a 2017 Volvo xc90 white with tan interior with 77k miles for $25k. It has all the new tech, dynamic ride like the Porsche but not a hybrid but still gets 25mpg since it's a 4cyl, turbo, with a supercharger. My wife loves driving this newer model. Plus the 2017 xc90 has 3 rows of seats and much more space than the 2010 xc60. It seems that I did the same thing as you except my cars are the light side and yours are the dark side. In my Yoda voice...Consider this you must my young padawan? hmmm? 😅 let'sdrag race your 2017 Cayenne VS my 2017 Volvo xc90. 😉 Seriously though you might want to have your son drive the 2010 Cayenne when he turns 16. Safe and yet it's a Porsche.

I've been very Cayenne curious. We're growing out of my wife's rouge as a family so these and X5's have been on my radar as a replacement for something that can do the family stuff but is reasonably enjoyable to drive. Will be very interested to see how the reliability of the E-Hybrid plays out in the future!

@@davidlepoidevin4239 yikes. That’s good to know. I’ve always been a bmw fan but had my reservations about the turbo engines. How’s the cayenne been so far?

As for storage on this Porsche one can Get aftermarket pockets that fit next to the center consul hand rails, good for the phone and glasses for me. As for mileage a used diesel has less maintenance for sure and I've gone 770 miles on a single tank of fuel on mine. Driven from San Francisco to Phoenix none stop. To bad people also don't know that the diesel today is as clean or cleaner than gas. Wish Porsche was still making the diesel. As he is in Park city with snow the 18/19 inch tire would be better. I love mine. Matt

This was my favourite review from this channel so far. Honest. I’d say you’re only option is to get a third black Cayenne.

I knew the second gen Cayenne would be perfect for you guys. But I think you could have gotten the diesel instead. We get 29mpg and handles great

This would be the car to replace my 2015 Cayenne Diesel should it get totaled out. Open road mpg on our diesel going through Wyoming at 85 mph yielded 31mpg for our 3k trip. Very comfortable touring car. I’ve since turned it into an overlander with off road tires and a 2” lift. So nice to go places where my buddies with Wranglers go! We have a Boxster and a Macan with the same center console button layout and also really like having buttons; nice going between cars and having the same instrumentation layout. Great video.

A terrific choice for the family. There really aren't many alternatives once you've owned a Cayenne. Maybe you can try a Land Cruiser next time around?

9:08 the brakes don't offer any regen, it's the electric motor producing drag. It would be accurate to say that the motor is braking, but not that the brakes are regening.

$450 a tire? Gulp 😮 that's crazy for a family hauler. It was a hard swallow for my wife's Flex with $260 a tire. Glad you and the wife like it though, it's a big upgrade!
