A bunch of turbotanks on the flat plains of Crait, circling the AT-M6’s and putting up a fight, as they outmaneuver the walkers and use their dorsal guns against the fighters

The biggest mistake on the resistances part was fighting in the first place. This entire trench-system in entirely useless as they have no weapons capable of actually harming the walkers attacking them (something they should have learned from the Battle of Hoth several decades before). They should have just holed up in the base and engaged the First Order ground troops when they have to enter the base through the tiny bottleneck that is the hole in the doors

To be fair, the troops outside at Hoth were simply a delaying force. They were trying to give the base enough time to get people and equipment evacuated. On Crait, what were they trying to delay? They knew no answer was coming, and they could have easily created many kill zones in the tunnels and with the small hole in the door.

Absolutely spot on analysis! the base on Crait should have been turned into another Stalingrad or, failing that, one of the fortified villages commonly used during the Vietnam War. These hamlets turned into Viet Cong strongholds forced American and allied units to fight on ground more suitable to the Viet Cong's strengths.

"The Millenium Falcon, while a powerful ship..." It's literally a freighter with an aftermarket engine. If there's anything which pisses me off about the sequel trilogy it's its overuse of the Falcon. How can one freighter with a single underside turret not only withstand, but BEAT an entire squadron of military-grade fightercraft? It's bullshit.

I felt that ordering the walkers to shoot Luke was the smartest call Kylo could make. How often do we criticize villians for going 1v1 with a hero ehen they could just have an army execute them? The whole point of the battle wasnt to kill luke it was to end the resistance by killing or capturing them all. He could have had one AT M6 fire while the rest just kept moving and doing things and it would have had the same effect. And since luke was just like a ghost in that scene they could have just ignored him.

@@aname6988 True, if your enemy had Tie fighters in WW1 or 2 then you've got bigger problems. For the others, it's to stop the effects of a direct artillery hit going down the length (shrapnel, shockwaves) and *bullets* if enemy troops manage to reach a portion. Imagine the damage (and confusion of returning fire) along a dead straight trench if someone started firing down the length, every bullet would eventually be a hit. Also the frequent corners allow bracing and strengthens and breaks up the structure, so it won't all just go in a collapse along the length if one part weakens. This were the design rules before aircraft were even invented. It just so happened that they were also the right choice against strafing runs. Once again proving that Star Wars doesn't even know basic tactics.

Agree that Rose Character arch isn't good. But Ramming Fin at the end is made sense, everyone knew that their fragile Sky Speeder won't do anything against Battering Ram Laser so they pull off except Fin. Especially on direct fly into the front on nearly full-charged laser(which can just blast Fin to oblivion or melt his ship even before hit) is really bad idea and suicidal action. So Rose came to stop pointless ram which didn't gonna do anything before Fin died.

How to beat the resistance at this point: -Communications Jammer -Kill every soldier that's outside the heavily fortified base. -Camp all sides of the base. Now when they run out of food and water.. they have no choice but to surrender, and since the First Order is bigger, they can still take over the rest of the Galaxy.

He did it so the Federation would lower their guard and not shoot the scrapped, empty ship he sent on a collision course. As you can tell, making a false surrender is very, very illegal. It ruins future diplomacy and peace talks, and you give the enemy the green light to shoot troops that actually surrendered because you've already proven that your side cannot be trusted.

In reality, it's a horrible attempt to justify a tactic that is now valid but is never used. I mean, how the heck did Holdo even know that the ram would even work? The tracker is new technology, and no one from the resistance would know how it functions on a technical level. How did she bank on the ram even working if it requires an extremely specific scenario for it to work in the first place? It just doesn't add up.

Rose's speed when she rams Finn means she probably had enough speed to hit the siege cannon herself. The First Order apparently had no sensors to detect an incoming ship … that's twice the Millennium Falcon has snuck in to save the day on a battle in progress. BTW how the hell did Finn drag Rose back to the base in time? They were next to the Walkers when they crashed and it's a _long_ walk.

Also, i need someone to explain me the sense of distance they have: it takes more time to ski speed to the superweapon than coming back by foot (poe, rose ànd the others literally teleport themselves back into the base) Also, rose has time to break off the attack, and then overtake finn that didn't slowed down in the first place to crash into him

The First Order had no idea whether the Resistance had anti-air capabilities. Dropping the superlaser too close could have just gotten it shot down. Speaking of the superlaser, the Falcon should have just made a direct surprise attack on it. If there is a kyber crystal in there, they could have blown up the entire First Order landing force in one blast.

If she was that much faster, she could have rammed the siege cannon herself. What's really confusing is how Finn was able to drag her back to the base. Realistically if he had started sprinting for the base ASAP, leaving her behind, and had damn good cardio, he still shouldn't have made it. A) He's an incredibly easy and visible target, leaving a trail of red with every step against a white background B) How long did they "fly" for before he crashed? He's a _long_ way away. That's a hike.

Then Ahsoka would be sentenced and Barriss would go unnoticed. She would probably be executed during Order 66 if she doesn’t commit any more crimes against the Jedi/Republic before ROTS. Ahsoka could escape, or she would be visited by Anakin if he would be allowed to see her. Anakin might turn to the dark side sooner seeing as how this wasn’t her choice unlike her leaving, which was. There might still be a Siege of Mandalore, they just wouldn’t send Ahsoka, they’d sub in some other Jedi, or maybe they’d have just Anakin or just Obi-Wan rescue the Chancellor. There’s a lot that would be different if Ahsoka was imprisoned.

Well That red dust is from the red sediment, right below the thin layer of white salt You can note it is seen in a handful of foot prints you can see, as well as the trenches. The reason the speeders were making that red dust was due to that bottom bit literally scraping the surface.

I think the fact that the First Order was undermanned and unprepared is perfect. Kylo was running off pure emotion, as siths do. His ego was so big that he thought that was all the troops and equipment they needed. They rushed into battle hastily, without a plan, and botched it from the very start. Kylo had just taken over as Supreme Leader and had no idea what he was doing.

2:23, it's always bothered me how they never give a decent explanation as to how ground vehicles are deployed. But there are some kind of ships that are carrying the siege cannon. But no one seems to know they are there. I don't know about anyone else but I want to find out more about them. If I could then the whole thing would make more sense. Even just a clear picture with a small description would do. Besides that I love this battle and people are just harsh about it and just episode 8 overall, you can never call yourself a star wars fan if all you can do is talk about how shit it is, because it's not shit.

I actually think like you said about the surviving carriers, was the AAL-1971/9.1 Troop Transport. The AT-M6’s probably only had the platoons on with them just in case things went south. Can you do the Gray Paladins? They're a Jedi faction that used blasters and other weapons one was so good that she was able to send one of her own bolts straight up an enemy's blaster barrel. They also believed in using the force as little as possible so they focused on other skills like martial arts and military tactics like guerrilla warfare, urban tactics, espionage, and infiltration.

Could the UNSC use Antimatter base rounds for their Mac guns? A single gram of Antimatter holds more power than the Fat Man and Little Boy atomic bombs imagine of much power a 3000 ton antimatter round flying at 4 percent the speed of light can do.

Battlefront 2 has better tactics than the movie. Using ion cannons to disable walkers, using the speeders to create smokescreens to hide the movements of the troops with the ion cannons and to use their larger guns damage the walkers while aa guns take out the TIEs to protect the speeders forcing the first order to deploy ground forces.
