Dragons' Den

2 жыл бұрын

Gut friendly food for cats and dogs, is the business idea that Croydon couple, Aneisha Soobrooyen and Jack Walker are hoping will win over the Dragons. They’re asking for £60,000 in return for a 10% stake in Scrumbles, but are they ready to rumble with Scrumbles?
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

"Turning down Deborah's offer was a CATASTROPHIC mistake......" to quote one comment, and the general feeling from the rest. It also serves as a motivator for the entrepreneurs to work hard to make the business thrive. They usually have a deadline to pay the money back. And a lot of the time, having the person highly motivated to make a successful business, is more valuable than keeping an extra 5%, in a less successful business

The company was in debt and making a loss and you have your dream dragon valuing your company at £300,000 which is triple your revenue and you turn it down. Biggest mistake of their lives. I was expecting Deborah to be asking for 50% with their numbers. Divorce is definitely on the cards now I’m afraid pal.

Interesting to listen to the language and watch the dynamics of the husband. He unilaterally made a decision to reject Deborah's offer and his reaction in the lift afterwards was almost dismissive of the wife's reaction.
@CoercedJab

Well she did stick the decision to him by ordering him to **”You do it”** when returning to Deborah with the counter… If she wanted a yes she should have made it clear or interrupted him to show her passion towards a work partnership. Also what he says in the lift is indiscernible to me so please quote whatever led you to believe it was dismissive because I see a Hug happening there…

The very naive answer “That would never happen to us” (to Peter’s question what would happen to the company in case the pair would fall out and get a divorce), should be enough to NOT invest in whatever this couple is doing! Because that just shows the overall ignorance that these people have over themselves and will undeniably bring into their business decisions!

The only explanation for the rejection must be that “cornered by yourself” situation, where you have backed yourself into a corner by your own negotiation, leaving you too embarrassed to go back from the position that you claimed was ‘necessary’ to induce your acceptance. If so, then that’s placing “embarrassment avoidance” above commercial sense. That will cause way more pain in the long run.
