When have you overcome anxiety in exams? Well...when I actually didn't give a shit about the result

(I m sure this is gonna have A LOT of grammar mistakes but yea 🤠)well I have strict parents and they put hella pressure on me to get good grades (good grades = A+ in all subjects even though I have been attending online classes for a year) they expect me to read by myself and ask doubts in the internet and my siblings if the teachers aren't good and for them it doesn't matter if I m crying or some over my exams or results, they just go 'u obviously didn't try to study harder' 'you are a failure' and stuff. And when I don't talk to them they ask me why am I not active like OTHERS, I m tired of being compared to someone in everything I hate it here. I have a math exam tomorrow it's 11 pm rn I just finished revising, I didn't have time to prepare completely bcuz right after 5 weeks of offline classes my final exams were announced and a week before that we had a 'pre-test' which had COMPLETELY DIFFERENT lessons from the ones we were having for finals FVCK MY LIFE. I want to be you, u r low key my role model from now on 💀✋

How to deal with symptoms of anxiety 1. Problem-focused coping. Identify exactly what is worrying you. a. Is it something that you can control? Put together a to-do list to make it manageable and bite-sized. b. What is worrying you about your exams? What areas can you control in that situation? 2. Manage emotion around things we can't control. Maintain a sense of calm around it. a. Distraction. Think about something else entirely. Do something you enjoy. b. Remove yourself from the stressor or source of stress. c. Face problem or situation head on. Plan for this in case it pops up again in the future. 3. Reflect and learn on the things that worked for you in the past. When have you overcome the same or a similar situation in the past? Use points of achievement when you start managing anxiety.

Hi Taeh Elise. It sounds to me as though you need to speak to a psychologist as you may well be suffering from anxiety that is less situational in nature. Start by speaking to your doctor and ask for a referral, if you're not sure where to start :)

Exams anxiety is really annoying. I have a phd entrence exam next Tuesday. It writing an essay and then verbal part. I know I know my topics, but Im 28 now and pressure to enter now and not another time is killing me. I spent two years of prolonging and now that im back on track the fear of failure is constantly in my mind. I cant think of the feature (not even if I can be able to see with friends next week) because in my mind is always "but If I fail, ill lock myself home and will be desparate". F.. this sh.. really.

We worried too much because we fear the unknown and then we start slowly automatically exaggerated it and we don't want to do it but we have to do it and you see yourself in the first person perspective so we don't know ourselves that way if we're able to do or not and then the time goes fast and our worries grows over time, so we're completely stuck and unable to make a decision and you compare yourself with others and hate yourself even in more and then the exam starts and you're stressed and then the result is the ultimate breakdown

Hi Nabrina, There are a couple of things that I would suggest to you. In truth, dealing with 'brain freeze' starts when you first map out your revision. If you think to yourself, how did you structure your learning? What were the keywords/subheadings that you used to break the topic down into bite-sized pieces? These then act as your sign-posts for your memory. I would suggest making a one page sheet with all of those keywords/subheadings written down in a chunked list (or flow chart) - a bit like an Index Page of all the subtopics. Then, practice looking at a key word and using it a bit like a drop down menu for all the things that you can remember about the topic. Some people do this as a map and others use a map of their house and imagine subtopics 'living' in different rooms of their house - walk into that 'room' and recall as much as you can. The cool part is that this works in line with your memory which loves word association and linking chunks of information. The day before, do a mixture of reviewing your Index page/map, to boost your confidence, and something exercise-related for your body. Exercise is great for your brain function as well as a good distraction! On exam day, remember to have a decent breakfast and give yourself enough food to get your blood sugars up in your brain, then have a balance of 'zoning in' to your Index page/map and 'zoning out', going for a walk and chilling out. In your exam, when you see a question, just think to which subtopic it belongs and allow your brain to 'drop down' the information - which it has been so practised at doing. Good luck! :)
