I dunno. I've had this for about 4 years now, sometimes I worry that I'll go into cardiac arrest. Sure, it's all in my head but the fear response and adrenaline shot it very real. My heart is usually pounding like a jackhammer when this stuff happens. Add to that the lack of quality sleep and it seems like it could affect your overall health negatively.

I have had this syndrome chronically for about 3 months...and also every once in a while it does still come back. It was awful, scaring me and waking me all the time. At one point I had the insight it was my subconscious releasing deeply held stress, once I had this realization and started to welcome it as a release and relax and NOT RESIST emotionally the experience of the sounds it went away like magic. Give it a try! its free and body and life affirming!

My usual EHS is the loud bang, like a shotgun right next to your head! It doesn't hurt. But oftentimes, it can be like an electrical arcing sound, sci-fi laser guns, a voice, etc. The worst part about it, well it wakes or scares you up! It's really intense. But then I feel stunned by the experience.

Does anyone else's episode have a gradual build up of loudness (4-6s)? Also, in my case, whatever is happening in the ongoing dream, everything goes black before the noise amps up to the max, becoming so loud it wakes me up. Worst cases of it I had were when I'm in the middle of a nightmare, running or hiding, then being found and woken up by it, woken up right into a sleep paralysis episode. Once had 3 instances in a single night... I also found the occurrence more likely to happen when I'm ill (cold, flu, ear inflammation, etc.)

I can totally relate with the gradual build up of sound. It’s like a loud electrical humming that builds up to a deafening buzzing in the brain. It always rattled me awake and if I was sick with a fever it was more likely to happen. It used to scare the hell out of me until I learned it was harmless. Now if it ever happens, I just ride it out by trying to remind myself that it’s not real. (Which isn’t always easy:)
@oliverlinehan8701
@oliverlinehan8701 4 ай бұрын
Yeah for me it’s definitely longer than 1 sec. And it’s almost always some extension of my dream. I will be dreaming, then everything will go black, I’ll have some thought related to my dream, sometimes with a slight visual image, then I’ll feel a quick electrical feeling in my head before a loud voice (usually my own) yells something. The first time it happened was the scariest. “LET GO! LET GO! NOW!” Other kinda scary ones were “NO! SHUT THE FUCK UP!” and “IT’S REAL! IT’S REAL! IT’S REAL!” I’ve stopped trying to fight my way out of it when it happens because it doesn’t really scare me anymore. I just let it play out to see what I say to myself lol.

I also have this… it’s on and off for me usually just once a night. I hear shotgun or a voice screaming random words on my ear. It’s super loud and I normally wake my husband up and run to the front door to check outside because it’s so real. I normally can’t go back to sleep after that…and next day I’m a mess, super tired.

EHD happens often with me too. About 80% of the time it's the sudden jerk, but can be door slam-type sound or someone yelling as well. I've has sleep paralysis since I was 9 or 10 (I'm 49 now) also. I'm prone to bouts of bad tension headaches either on one side (usually the right) of my head or across my forehead area. Had a series of migraines about 15 years ago, they've never returned.

For me, it happened after I extracted 3 upper maxillary tooth (2 of them inside of the maxillary sinus), I fell asleep, and let's say 1 hour 30 minutes later, I woke up as if a grenade had exploded in front of my head. Little did I know, I was already developing debilitating tinnitus back then, so I think they are very much related. So far, 4 months after the procedure, I'm still sleeping under drugs. If anyone from Treble Health sees this, please, I need help. Thank you very much.

It's a common antidepressant discontinuation symptom that can mess up your sleep seriously. Health forums are full of people suffering from it. Oh, and being chronically sleep-deprived from this $hit is not benign. It's often disabling and costs people their social lives and careers.

Most of the time(like last night) the beating sound in my left ear occurs when I lie or when I’m asleep.It almost always happens when there is an outside factor like a radio playing or a need to go to the bathroom.I wonder if this can be related to this video (Medical checkups have found nothing for me).

Ive recently started having this and its just like 2 saucepan lids being banged together just one time. It immediately wakes me, but I can get it just as I'm nodding off. Ive got an ICD and I initially thought it was that firing off, but it isn't (Ive had it fire before and its a different sort of bang) and after a bit of research was amazed its actually called Exploding Head Syndrome! Who thought that up? - very apt, lol. At least I now know that it isnt dangerous, and its not just me. Thanks for your video. From Birmingham, U.K. 🇬🇧

It sounds like you're dealing with multiple challenging symptoms, including sleep paralysis, ear pain, and tinnitus. A visit to your local ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist) can help identify any underlying causes and develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Before these episodes I had once experienced someone sitting on my chest when I was having fever…it was so apparent that moment I closed eye I felt someone sitting over me even when light was on…maybe sometimes later I first experienced EHS. It was mostly when I was exhausted physically…I was scared for years…but slowly I realised that it normally relieved my head…now after the neurologist did not solve my questions regarding such exper and having done a CT scan I relied on Dispirin or some muscle relaxant whenever I felt this could happen…But in nineties I reported my incedent on internet forum where some other lady had also reported..I felt relieved and frequency of events slowed and so the fear
