Rare Old Lighter Restoration. This old lighter was found by a metal detector. The lighter lay underground for a long time. I saw such a lighter for the first time. I think that the lighter was made during the First World War. I decided to restore an old lighter. I removed the rust, polished the parts. I hope you liked my restoration.

Обожнюю дивитись відновлення, особливо механічних знахідок - як ця запальничка. Вже колись писав, чим складніший пристрій тим цікавіше дивитись за відновленням. Я розумію, яку титанічну роботу вкладено в це, чого лише вартує затирання всіх нових деталей, до потрібної форми, чи створення нової заглушки. Створення накладок на ножі, чи руків’я для сокири - звичайно не сильно легше, але там хоча б деталі великі, а не як тут 😊

Have you ever though of using a rock tumbler for sanding down multiple parts instead of a jar attached to a drill. It would move slower and not run out of power. Could have better results too.

Vinegars work. But if you want strong. Not much beats the original glass bottle Coca Cola. But you have to keep an eye on it. :)

I've always found trench art to be fascinating, it's amazing what the soldiers could make with shell casings.

A nice piece, but not true trench art. The lighter would have needed lathes and machine tools not available to the front line troops.

It's amazing that I knew what my First World War ancestors who were the British dough boys went through. In the very way, they suffered just by going through a water supply shortage. They had to use gasoline as a cleaning solution. For example, during 1917.

@@ReXtorer Це дуже цікаво з точки зору що пластики - продукт 20 сторічча, і їх розквіт це більше про його кінець ніж навіть середину чи тим більш першу третину. А в 19 соріччі і на початку 20го пластики були матеріалом рідкісним, і різновидів їх було вкрай мало. Це схоже на целюлоїд, найперший вид пластику. І справді круто і цікаво подивитись як він виглядав на реальних виробах тих часів. Жива історія технології матеріалів.

робота проведена колосальна, але сама конструкція запальнички не надто вдала, дуже маленький резервуар для палива, а ковпачок не щільно прилягає, її потрібно буде щонайменше раз на 3 дні заправляти, а то й частіше. хоч зрозуміло, що ця річ вже не для щоденного використання, а скоріше музейний експонат.

@@ReXtorer я ж не висловлюю претензій))) виглядає оригінально, а після реставрації взагалі - краса, хоч є багато більш вдалих конструктивних рішень. мені подобаються варіанти з додатковим резервуаром для бензину, було б цікаво подивитись на таку запальничку, якщо трапиться

3:40 тому що різьба з іншого боку! А якщо треба було штіфт витягти тоді тільки їого і гріти. Шкода оригінального пластику. Мені з дівану та після того як побачив результат ой як видно! Дякую за контент!
