Heh. Mining the spawners is surprisingly effective. In fact, rushing and clearing bases before the pollution touches them is also surprisingly effective. Starting yellow science last night resulted in the first bloom in my default world large enough to warrant setting up turrets around my factory. Mining outposts had em, but my base hadn't been touched. PDLs made short work of those bases though, lol. I should do a death world.

​@@giin97 My first instinct when playing Factorio was to destroy the bug bases by hand because I hated seeing things get damaged and "wasting time and resources" (lol) building walls and turrets and filling those turrets with ammo. It's definitely a valid strategy to bust those nests if any significant portion of your production is going towards combat resources. I haven't played Factorio in a while but I'm definitely jumping straight into a death world next time I play it.

How to complete "There is no spoon" achievement in 6 simple steps: 1) Launch an interplanetary spaceship with all the stuff required from your other base; 2) Wait for it to arrive (from 6 hrs to 30 days depending on the other base's position); 3) Find the cargo and pick it up (a car should be sufficient); 4) Build the silo and supply it with materials; 5) Launch the rocket and win the game; 6) PROFIT!!!!!11!1

i've been playing on my own ridiculous challenge lately, maybe that could interest you : trainworld mode (ressources are very far apart, biters don't spread) expensive recipes try to clear as few nests as possible (you have to clear the first ones, otherwise you will deplete all of your ressources in making bullets) and then the best rule : play as inefficiently as possible 😂 for example, i _could_ make a big steam power plant and send long distance cables, but no-no-no, I take a train and ship some steam to my outposts (or i could ship water and coal i guess ? can use solar panels too, but remember : expensive reciepes !) oh also i avoid making a main bus and generally try to spread my activities. for exemple i could deliver iron and copper to my chemical plant (which is not anywhere close to my oil patch btw), but instead i'm going to ship raw sulfur somewhere with one train (possibly in a place with no water), and other trains will deliver the rest, while a last one will take the finished batteries somewhere for further processing i think i'm like 30 hours into it, and i'm barely setting up chemistry. i think that could make a hilarious playthrough 😉

an other way to formalize it : one location, one activity, then you have to take the train again. and extracting ressources is already an activity 😅

Depending on how far out the outpost is, sending power via steam may be a good idea, as long as you have a couple solar panels at the outpost as backup in case of a blackout.

@@ryan3212 yes that's usually what I do, at the very least you need one solar panel to power the pumps that pull the steam out of the train. But I like how unrealistic and inefficient it sounds 😅

I know how to reliably do There is no spoon, but I'm waaaaay off from any WR chances. This run is mostly meant as a guide for the achievement, I'm making it because the actual strategies used in the WR-class attempts are very different from what is required for a 'simple' 8h attempt

It's in the options when creating a world, also you can use a console command, which is not considered cheating and allows achievements to be unlocked

Once you unlock blueprints in any of your games they stay unlocked for every future map you play. EDIT: Also as the other person said, you can unlock them through a command which doesn't disable achievements.
