Imagine if the series was about Vivian being a normal girl seeing all the crazy shit in Dimsdale, and suddenly freaking out. Hard freaking out, refusing to leave her room because one of her teachers is obsessed with faries, another seems to constantly be in a state of mildly orgasmic sadistic glee, and there's *some weird-ass texan with a giant hat* running around. She basically quickly spirals down into a pit of homesickness and despair, knowing that she's trapped in this asylum of a town with nobody to reach out to. Her parents are loving it, and her brother is wrapped up in his own antics so that he doesn't think "it's *THAT* weird, right?". She's completely isolated. Then she gets Cosmo and Wanda somehow and over the course of the series she starts to acclimate, becoming as zanny as everyone else. First it's through backfiring wishes to try and make everyone else more "normal" that result in her needing to bend her own rigid worldview to the flow around her Later on it becomes more about trying to change herself in ways she thinks will help, only to realize that it's important to stay true to herself in some regard. Basically it's a story of a somewhat prudish girl learning to come out of her shell, but with magic. Or something. I'm not a writer, I'm just some guy on the internet.

All on a budgetless, pop culture-laden non-show made to maybe entertain the few tweens that might watch it and no one else. Got it. @Adamkalb12 жыл бұрын
To quote Mr. Enter in the #3 entry of his Top 10 Worst Cartoons of the 1980s, "This shirt is what happens when you do not care!" Nick just wanted to make a live-action Fairly OddParents series for Paramount+ with no thought whatsoever put into how Timmy passing down his fairies to a younger kid would violate the rules and lore of The Fairly OddParents, not just because we never heard of a Fairy Permission Scroll before that allowed somebody who outgrew their fairies to choose which new kid gets to have them, but mainly because nobody writing this new show put any thought into Vivian as a character, what she is like as a person, and what makes her miserable. She just doesn't need her fairy godparents for anything most of the time, which makes this premise for a live-action animation hybrid sitcom an even bigger waste of potential than Imaginary Mary. A more interesting premise for this show would have been if it followed Timmy's kids who were seen at the end of Channel Chasers. I mean, think about it: Timmy became a loving but somewhat oblivious parent. He knows something is off about the Vicky Robot but can't put his finger on it because he had much of his memory wiped after losing his God Parents. As a result, he unintentionally puts his children in danger and causes them misery. Soooo, Cosmo and Wanda get assigned to be the God Parents of Timmy's kids (Which was CLEARLY the case given the ending of the movie) and they can help him raise his children while also coaching him to be a better parent than his parents ever were from the sidelines. We'd get to have Timmy in the show and expand on his character in adulthood, we'd get to know some newer characters who were already introduced to us and are at least somewhat miserable, and overall the whole show would make more sense.

Roy's character would've worked if he used his energetic and always happy nature as a facade to cover up how miserable he was, and being self centered would be his way of self reassurance, this could've been interesting to explore, especially given he's a kid and for a kid. But given this show they wouldn't explore that. They could even go with the popularity thing being all a lie and everyone pretends to like him for whatever reason. Also a Fish out of Water story (while very typical) could've worked in this type of show if Vivian was actually miserable too. What worked about Cosmo, Wanda and Timmy in Seasons 1-5 was the family dynamic. They were suppose to be the family he desired to help make his life better and the wishes just came with it. Plus whenever Timmy made a wish Wanda would read out the rules to make sure that Timmy knew the rules of the wishes he made, some were debatable. But his implusive and selfish nature naturally had him live out the consequences of said rules until he decided how important the rules were.

Or Remy Buxaplenty, who was his polar opposite and his fairy, Juandissimo?! The world became so boring once I noticed the sudden lack of unique, diverse recurring characters. Arguably the best episodes were the ones that showed how selfless Timmy was for his friends! But nope. Let’s replace them with bland, gimmicky characters who had zero relatability or charm. I feel like it would of been so so so easy to make Vivian miserable but in different ways than Timmy, ways that might be unique to her experiences as a teenage girl -Make her step brother just a normal kid who doesn’t have the fairy god parents but he’s still perfect and a local town legend which makes Vivian feel inferior all the time, especially if he’s still a jerk to her all the time. -Her dad cares a lot more about her new step mother and step brother than her, he doesn’t care about her interests and always wanted a son. -Make her at least a little unattractive and make her very insecure about it, even if it’s the bare minimum of giving her glasses and a pony tail it would still work better. -She’s picked on by almost everybody including that mean girl popular bully, the main reason everyone hates her is because she’s so serious and isn’t in tune with all the other Dimmsdale weirdness, they make fun of her for just not understanding how things work because she’s not from around here. -Instead of having bad grades she could want to be an actor so she joins drama club, but her teacher just hates her so she never gives her any good parts, she’s often just a tree. (Bonus point if her mean popular bully is the teachers favorite, you could even still use Vicky if you want.) Maybe you could even include more FOP characters as adults to really flesh out the town more (some of them could even have kids of their own to be vivian’s class mates! Maybe Trixie tang had a son that she has a crush on!), I’m not sure how her connection to Timmy could be improved, maybe she’s still his cousin but instead of giving Wanda and Cosmo away to her, Wanda and cosmo miss Timmy so much that they chose to help Vivian because she reminds them of him. You could even have Timmy come and visit from time to time for extra drama. when weird stuff happens he can mumble about how it all seems oddly familiar but he just can’t put his finger on it cause his memory is wiped, maybe Vivian and Timmy don’t have a very good relationship but Wanda and cosmo fix it by telling her stories about when he was a kid (insert episode references here). I feel like this premise was kinda wasted an could of been massively improved on :(.

The odd part is Viv could have been like Hazel, seeming more normal but her misery is underneath the surface. Moving to a new place, self isolation, having a brother who always steals the spotlight from her, a step mom who always negs and belittles her in subtle ways and a father that turns a blind eye to all of it sounds devastating. I think the problem is that unlike Hazel, whose anxiety and overthinking were always explored, the show just presents theses ideas but never really explores them, making it seem like it doesn’t effect her at all.

You’re idea about having the godparents be for Timmy’s child could be so good if done correctly. They could’ve still had Timmy’s memory wiped, but have the first episode be about him discovering his kids have fairies, and specifically cosmo and Wanda. Seeing them again after sharing so many good memories could reawaken his memories about them. Jorgan, sharing a special fondness for Timmy based on his past experiences, would simply look the other way, but give Timmy the condition that he’s not allowed to let his kids find out that he knows, and he’s not allowed to have his wishes granted. Timmy could grapple with the fact that he knows he’s doing what his parents did with Vicky and causing his own children misery, but changing things would cause cosmo and Wanda to disappear. You could have whole episodes dedicated to timmy, and other episodes dedicated to his kids, meaning old fans looking for more mature themes could only watch the timmy episodes, and the kids could watch the other kids.

@tiablue91062 жыл бұрын
yeah when I first saw vivian I thought she was an older chloe. the ideas of the later seasons weren't doomed on arrival, the executions were just not good. sparky literally returned to his home planet, they wrote him out of the original after 1 season w/ no in-universe explanation. It could've been nice having an older poof. (edit: but ig according to the drake bell movies he'd still be a baby since fairies rlly do age that slow) And if they wanted to keep things connected to Timmy, they could at least give a brief explanation that--unlike Timmy--Chloe outgrew the fairies, got her memory wiped and maybe could be a side character in the series or say she moved away afterward if u don't wanna include her. Better to at least handwave than pretend these characters never existed, esp when they started the show w/ a recap of the original where they easily could've explained these things
@barelyhere72002 жыл бұрын
@@tiablue9106 exactly. Seeing an older poof with his own God child could’ve been interesting but they don’t even acknowledge his existence. Like would it have been been so hard to get Tara strong voice him again). I actually didn’t mind sparky (and then the writers just got rid of him the very next season without any in universe explanation despite how easy it would’ve been to make an excuse for his absence). Season 10 though…… that is when the show became truly awful in my opinion. I just like everyone else hate Chloe. And because they completely wrote out Sparky from the show and poof only appears in one episode of the season Chloe gets almost all the attention. To take the cat out of the bag, this show was made to be so cheap, that there are some problems which I can list down here: Plotholes throughout. In fact, Vivian and as I like to call him the "Let's go!" kid don't have miserable lives like Timmy. They have saccharine-ass lives without any abusive parents. The monster costume during a film set was a Godzilla inflatable suit the creators bought from a nearby Party City. On the subject of the animated segments(and to a lesser extent, Cosmo and Wanda), they look worse than the flash animation used for the final 13 episodes of Fairly Oddparents. It looks like an NFT cartoon, and feels more stilted than the last! Little to no mention of Poof, Foop, Sparky, Chloe, Trixie, Tootie, Chester, AJ, Sanjay, Elmer, Frankie, Crimson Chin, Catman, Negachin, Juandissimo, Tooth Fairy, April Fool, Cupid, Dr. Rip Studwell, Principal Waxoplax, Binky, Mama Cosma, etc; nor Timmy's kids Tammy and Tommy. The humor: bland, unfunny, stale as dried toothpaste, and jokes that pander toward kids of the modern generation. Mentions of theater musicals(as a theater fanatic myself, I find them to come out of nowhere, and didn't laugh once), Tiktok, yelling YOLO and flossing, pop culture references, Absolutely disgusting! They got Butch Hartman back to work on this despite his actions after leaving Nickelodeon having major consequences. Sure, Butch isn't a creep like John K, Chris Savino, and Dan Schneider, but he's a complete scumbag every which way. Let alone have they said no to bring back Jimmy Neutron so it can be faithful to the source material(in a similar case to KND), but continued to ruin the Fairly Oddparents since it's already a zombie franchise!

Alternative Idea: Due to mishaps, Timmy leaves his fairies at school and Vicki finds them so they become hers. Over the season they teach her to be a better person as she makes wishes and through seeing what would happen if her cruelty could go as far as she wants, she starts to understand why she is wrong and learns there are consequences and begins to care for others, starting with Cosmo and Wanda. She finally apologised to her family and Timmy (who came home for Christmas break) and ends as a good teacher who looks after the students. There is a final goodbye to C+W and the series ends.

As someone who wants to make animated films, instead of making a sequel series taking place in the future, I would make a great big epic finale for the original series. The story would begin with a retelling of the story "Boots and his Brothers". This would present a world where humans and fairies use to coexist on earth. An evil fairy queen would put a curse on the fairies who sided with humans, which results in the anti-fairies. The story would reveal the origin of Fairy World, why the Pixies are the way they are, and Poof and Chloe's true nature. The evil fairy queen would reveal herself and summon her army of dark fay, many characters would be "killed off" and the universe would be plunged into malice. Timmy, Cosmo, Wanda and an Earth Fairy would brave the post apocalyptic world searching for survivors and forge an army of their own in order to fight the Dark Fey and the Queen. It's most definitely going to be darker than anything from the original show, dealing with themes of Fascism, Revenge, Trauma, Camaraderie, Love and Forgiveness. The filmed would be over three hours since there would be so many characters new and old and world to flesh out.

@@verstamech I think that's why I hate this show. All of a sudden Cosmo and Wanda love each other again and are mad at Timmy? Why?

Season 1 was probably the only time where Cosmo was both an idiot but Wanda still loved him, and he had good but silly ideas. Like the time travel episode.

Personally, instead of the whole scene with Cosmo’s ex we’ve never seen or heard of before, they couldve given Poof a cameo instead - to explain his disappearance. Have it so that he’s off to school or being taken care of by Mama Casma or smthng. Also, with the entire reboot being known for budget cuts at this point, why did they even bother animating the flapping action of the fairies’ wings? They didnt used to flap their wings in the original series. The fairies just sorta, floated there.
@GeteMachine2 жыл бұрын
They probably got rid of him because he was dragging the series down. People didnt really care for him as a character.

Roynochio should have been Poof visiting his parents and his parents ask him of what he is doing this days. Also, have Poof met Vivian and Roy.

Since Wanda hates Brandy-Lynn, don't you think Wanda's hatred of Brandy-Lynn is similar to Timmy's dad of Sheldon Dinkleberg, except her hatred of her is more rational.

Regarding the "I wish this boy would kiss me" wish being against the "can't wish someone would fall in love with you" rule, I wouldn't say the two are necessarily in conflict. Someone could be forced by magic to kiss someone else, but that doesn't mean their feelings for the person they're kissing would be changed. Spot-on with everything else in this review though!
@GeteMachine2 жыл бұрын
I cant think of if that wish is legal or not. She could have just said she wished she knew how to get that boy to kiss her. Where she'd have to do the work herself but find out what he likes in girls or something. But she tries and it backfires in some way and the boy ends up liking her a bit because it got his attention, while the wish isnt actived. Like after she's covered in the mess she made.

6:35 - 6:47 Omg I would've love to see that, imagine Timmy gradually grew up through out the show & the finale end with him becoming a great adult while Cosmo & Wanda move on to be godparents of Timmy's kids like in the end of "Channel Chasers" That would've been a great conclusion for Timmy character arc

I've heard enough about this show to know that the writing isn't all that good. At the very least, I think the characters could have worked if the writing were tweaked a bit. Here's what I'm thinking: *Timmy Turner* Like the show, Timmy has to go to college. However, both he and the fairies are saddened that their time together is at an end. After Cosmo and Wanda leave, Timmy forgets that he had fairies until he finds a note and footage that proves that he did indeed have fairies and that they are now gone. While he's heading for college, he spots Vivian and her family moving into a house in the neighborhood. In the years since the original show, Timmy was this cool, older brother kind of guy who would sometimes visit her with his family and goldfish. He's been in touch with Vivian enough to know that she's been having a hard time lately and is really looking forward to moving to Dimmsdale. Unfortunately, Timmy didn't realize that he was moving out on the same day Vivian was moving in. He has the unenviable task of letting her know that the main reason she was excited is literally moving away. Still, he goes through with it and tries to comfort her, maybe even promising to come visit during the holidays so that it won't be that bad of an experience for her. As he's leaving, Timmy manages to overhear Vivian getting fairies for the first time. He listens in and realizes that the fairies are none other than Cosmo and Wanda themselves, which both he and the fairies find to be an interesting coincidence. In the show, Timmy would continue to play the role of the cool older brother Vivian (and Roy) never had, but can only do so much because a) he has college and b) he can't let Cosmo and Wanda know that he managed to remember them. Still, that ain't going to stop him from trying to help her (and eventually Roy) in any way he can. *Vivian Turner* Vivian's sort of George McFly from Back To The Future in this version: she means well, but she's essentially a living doormat who needs to stand up for herself or else she'll be miserable for the rest of her life. She gets roped into doing tasks and homework other people were assigned to do, even by her step-brother, she goes along with most anything because she's worried that nobody will like her if she doesn't, and her parents are neglectful in their own ways. Her new step-mom barely acknowledges that Vivian exists and her own father still treats her like she's still in elementary school. Whereas maybe she could speak up against anyone else, she can't bring herself to tell him the truth because she knows he's genuinely trying his best and doesn't want to lose her connection with him. If she does have a relationship with Timmy, then he'd be the fun-loving older brother she never had. Now that Timmy's moving away for college, especially since she was excited to move to Dimmsdale because that meant she could spend more time with him, Vivian's kind of in a bad spot. Throughout the show, she would learn how to stand up for herself without becoming too selfish. Maybe some of her initial wishes are made for others, but even Cosmo and Wanda recognize that this isn't really making her life any better due to how much of a toll it's taking on her. *Roy Raskin* Much like his actual show counterpart, Roy is an impulsive kid. He acts on pretty much every thought that crosses his mind. However, this stems from being neglected by his mother. Since both his mom and step-father acknowledge Vivian more than him, Roy's been left to be raised by television and the internet, which isn't always the best way to raise a kid. As such, to feel like he has any sense of value, and to feel any form of being liked, Roy has taken on the persona of the Impulsive, Radical, Hip With The Kidz Cloud Cuckoolander. While this has somewhat helped him, this has resulted in him feeling worthless if he doesn't take on this persona and being unaware of when his antics hurt others, usually Vivian. Unlike Vivian, Roy would have to learn to be a bit more considerate and acknowledge that some folks will never like you. Perhaps one wish manages to screw over Vivian so much that she finally snaps at him and shows him that his actions don't just impact him. Cosmo and Wanda may also try to warn him about some of these consequences, which may or may not get ignored, depending on whether or not Roy thinks that the consequences are severe enough to heed their warnings. As for the others, I think you can figure how the parents would work in this version, Poof would be written off as having been tasked with helping another child who is not in Dimmsdale, Vicky no longer has a thing for Mr. Crocker, but still works with him to catch fairies, as even if she doesn't expect to gain magic to torment kids, she at least learns new ways to make kids miserable, and Mr. Crocker, much like Cosmo and Wanda, is pretty much the way he was in the original Fairy OddParents (first five seasons). Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. Have a nice day!

You know, Invader Zim is my favorite Nicktoon and my all over favorite cartoon, and I'm constantly sad it got cancelled so early- halfway through an unfinished second season. Still, when I watch videos like these and think about how FOP and IZ aired their first episodes on the same night, I'm almost happy Invader Zim got canned early as opposed to turning into a vapid, shambling zombie of a cashcow like FOP. It's honestly sad to see.

I mean, Jhonen Vasquez was involved, so I don't think that was a major risk anyhow. He's the sort to pull the plug when the time comes, whether that means things have come to a conclusion and it's time to write a finale, or just putting it out of its misery so that his name and stories won't be associated with the mindless filler that parents use to babysit their kids.

@@benbarnett5743 See, I don't want more Adventure Time/Regular Show/Gravity Falls, and I only ever wanted Invader Zim to be able to actually have the full second season. But we have Enter the Florpus now, so that's wrapped up too. No, what I want is a creative new show from Jhonny V, or someone else capable of achieving that kind of depth without sacrificing entertainment to do it. It's not just movies that are on infinite remakes/sequels/prequels/spinoffs/etc. It seems like nothing gets made now unless it belongs to an existing IP or brand - I can guarantee that something like Oppenheimer was only able to be made because it was attached to Christopher Nolan's name and associated brand recognition. Of course, what I _really_ want is not just more original works from the greats, but creative new works from new artists. It's damn near impossible to establish yourself as an artist the way the existing creators did in decades past.
