***** Wow that's some heavy shit. I am part of the 3rd Budweiser mechanized unit, also known as the "6 packs". Have just got back from a search and rescue deployment, looking for a Sony ADP090 remote control lost during a 3 day James Bond movie marathon deployment. Was heavy going due to the heavy coverage of cushions and pizza boxes in the area. We had a couple of brief skirmishes with a local militia called Mr Tiddles a highly trained 2 year old tabby, but we recovered the remote in good condition. Be safe out there, its coming up to a busy time of year. At this time of year I always make sure my equipment is in good condition, extra batteries for the remotes, speed dial set to all major delivery services, TV guides current, emergency DVD supplies, extra haemorrhoid cream and PJs in full working order.

When he does, it's only to me and it's me that has to wake him from his nightmares at night. His memories are both painful and yet loyal to the blokes he loved , lost and those that survived. If he were to put on dress uniform he'd be able to name every medal without looking at their order. I so wish there was a law against this! I think it's disgusting to those that have served.

My dad was awarded a DCM for his bravery during the assault on the German bunker codenamed "Hillman" by the 1st Suffolks on D-Day. He has passed away now, but I went to loads of military events with him and it's amazing how many of these idiots are out there - from the re-enactment mob who think their all in the SAS desert patrol or US 82nd Airborne, to the ones who try to pass themselves off as genuine servicemen like this mug. My personal gripe is all the fake silverware knocking about. There are so many of these medal manufacturing companies, that your average punter can't tell a real medal issued by the MOD from a fake. A "Walter" like the one in this video could have 6 medals on his chest and they're all Franklin Mint rubbish and someone meeting this clown with no knowledge could be highly impressed by him. I remember one National Service fella who would turn up to the opening of an envelope, (and seemed to be at any event my dad was invited to) went over the course of a year from sporting just a General Service Medal, to a chestful of medals - including one for being on the artic convoys!

My late Grandad was a para with the Royal Ulster Rifles and involved in Pegasus Bridge on D-Day. He NEVER talked about the war. A few years ago I read the account of 1 Suffolk on D Day. The assault on Hillman was a feat of arms that has sadly been forgotten outside Suffolks / R Anglian. Also sad that the savage fighting around Chateau de la Londe - the most dangerous square mile in Normandy has been forgotten. I take my hat off to your father and his comrades. I served alongside 1 R Anglian in Afghanistan including B (Suffolk) and C (Essex) Coys and will always be proud to have played a small part in their history.

I have worked with hundreds of officers and certainly this is not one. In the first place no officer would usually condescend to explain his service record even if you are in uniform and that includes retired officers. I'm ex-Army and I can see through these people like a sheet of glass. Unless they have studied military decorations the type of medal, campaign, for what and for where it was awarded, and most importantly the medal position. You can be prosecuted for wearing decorations you are entitled to.
