Laura, the way you (and Dad) have restored this house with authenticity and respect for the integrity of the building is so refreshing to see for this architectural geek. I get goggle eyed over baseboards and window trims and find the clean lines you used to be so respectful of the houses early days. You did not even cheat in the bathroom, using a period appropriate sink allowing us to still see those fabulous floor boards! Enough gushing.

LOVE the black fixtures! Those mirrors are awesome also. For the future I suggest you look into wall anchors to hang stuff on drywall. They are incredibly easy to use and can be found to hold from a few ounces to several pounds. ✌💚

I use the wall anchors for lots of things, just when I showed the mirror to my dad he thought the anchors wouldn’t hold it. So I’m trusting him on that one hahah ♥️😂

Y'all totally did what I would've done with the subway tile!! I just love the initial lay of the tile and that darkness before white grout goes on. Awesome!! Oh and how that second bathroom looks so huge compared to before. Neat!

Hi Laura, I do love what you have done with the bathroom , the shower is fab , the enclosed part looks like its always been there . the white tiles are great .They contrast well with the wonderful floor tiles , I am so happy that you didnt consider going for the popular tiles ( used on many rehab shows on tv) that are black and white, yours are much better , and certainly give off a warmer atmosphere. You were brave hanging the mirror , i wouldve needed a mate to help me .

Hi Laura love house. Y’all have done a beautiful job. My comment has to do with decorating your home , wall art specifically. When you did your initial walk throughs you had taken some awesome pictures. There was a picture of a fireplace pulling away from the wall. There was also a picture of the barn. I think if you could get those printed in black and white and framed that would be such Great Wall art.

New subscriber. I'm so glad you are in and able to control your own door so to speak. Thought for hanging heavy mirrors and pictures. When your house was built it had, along with crown moldings, a particular molding that you could put hanger hooks on. These had wires attached to them that went down to the picture or mirror that you wished to hang. No holes in the walls! You sometimes see these in old mansions that have been turned into museums. Good luck finding all the fittings that you need to make your home your dream.

It is called picture rail. I have it in my old house living room. I got the hangers and rope online, I think at Classic Accents maybe. It’s great not having to put holes in the walls!

Wow, I thought my restoration of a 1960s California Split-Level was involved! Yours is a true transformation by comparison...and the history you have is incredible. Also jealous of all of the land you have. Here in Mill Valley, California (8 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge/San Francisco), space for parking (etc.) is always at a huge premium!

If the paint doesn't stick well you can try either Old English scratch cover or shoe polish. I cannot wait to re-do my bathroom, I love the white subway tiles you did, I want to do the same thing. I'm on the hunt for an old washstand that we can make into a sinkbase with a vessel sink I found. It looks like an old fashioned wash basin but it has a lip big enough to have the faucet come over and not splash. I love to hunt for certain old things and when I have everything then I'm ready to put it all together into a unique look that always seems to look right. I'm just in love with everything you have done to restore this beautiful home that chose you to be there as it's Steward.

I believe the really small bedroom upstairs is meant to be a baby nursery because it is so close to the large bedroom which would make sense so that the mother can check on the baby.

Put some gold with brown on other areas of the mirror frame to help blend the damaged parts in. Go to Joann's or Michael's and find gold paste in small jars. Easier to use. You can use a coffee brown oil based antique stain over the entire frame (use a sponge brush) and wipe it down with an old t shirt then give it a spray with mat varnish. The folks in the craft store can mentor you through.

just came over from your 'live'.. didn't realize I missed a video..came to see the bathroom reveals....l❤️ve the way they came together - we have that same faucet set - and do NOT doubt your self and your abilities..ya did a wonderful job with the touch up on the mirror 👍❤️ [just a small mention about something I noticed as I know that you obsess about the details (as I do🤔) for your heat registers.. either look @ Lowe's or HD they do sell wrought iron/like inserts to fit most standard sizes...orrr if you want to.. lightly sand, prime & paint the existing ones (stove black- white whatever fits the room decor...to help keep W/your farmhouse, historic look as ALWAYS we find it both admirable AND absolutely fabulous that you put such care and thought into preserving the past !#!

Soak the rusty treasures in clear vinegar get an old tub with a lid fill it with vinegar place rusty objects in check every 24hrs rinse scrub with a wire brush. then use the vinegar to kill weed in the yard.

I'm not sure what happened in the live feed but I commented that Johnny's Selected seeds and High Mowing Seeds are good for finding plants. High mowing has a huge organic/heirloom selection of seeds and plants. Also Farmtek is good for equipment and supplies. Online ordering is excellent for all three. I worked for a Non-profit organization that does urban farming. We ordered often and it had to be better quality stuff than you'd find at Home Depot, ACE, or Lowe's (Not for everything but certain things had to be more heavy duty). The prices are about the same.
