Ordered some dubias hoping i can get my new baby to eat. Ive had him this is day 3. I know it some times takes them a few days to get acclimated to new surroundings. I was weary about feeding live anything since the whole ( live feedings makes them aggresive bs) but i am trying all your other socializing methods and theyre workings so here go!!!

If you only have one monitor and it’s your main pet… can a monitor have separation anxiety say when you go to work or if you go away for a few days

Very useful, thanks. For how long do you leave the roaches with the monitors? If there are uneaten roaches and no other monitors to eat them (e.g., you only have one monitor), can you return the roaches to their bin or will they die because they're covered with calcium?

I generally leave in for a few hours...when I am done with them they can go back into the colony until needed again. If i put too much calcium on the roach via container they can desicate or get smothered.

I bought a baby Asian water monitor and he'll only eat live food such as minnows,crickets,roaches,mealworms,superworms but if I feed things like turkey,salmon,chicken he'll only eat like 2-3 bites also he will not eat around anything like humans or other pets

As babies maybe every feeding or every other.... feed insects 3 to 5 times a week when they are small!

If they need calcium.. maybe you should feed Whole prey. A properly planned animals diet doesn’t need supplementation, they don’t get it in the wild, means they don’t need it.

Ophelia Buxton they are captive born not wild caught. It's not always easy, one thing to pay atte tion too is their diet, because they could possible end up with parasites or getting sick.

Wild monitors get minerals out of drinking ponds, mud, and rocks in the wild..that is something they don't have in captivity.
