Had to come back to this when I learned of Sir Stirling's passing. Rest in peace you legend!

We need role models for young men these days. People like moss, hill are just a rare breed we desperately miss. Thank you. I remember watching you at brands when I was young so that shows what era I was from.

Tiff's videos at Maranello and cheeky swipes at the Ferrari are always funny. But they keep in inviting him back!

The 612 and 599 are the Ferrari to buy right now before the gonna hit the roof!

The prices of the 550 & the 575 have already jumped up since last year..extending past my $$ limits.

Yes. Only the SA Aperta, Alonso and 6-Speed M/T 599 are like half a million buks...
@BlitzkriegRap7 жыл бұрын
Why? They made a NA 12 cylinder F12 Berlinetta after that, and they are still making it with the 812 Superfast.

why what!
@BlitzkriegRap7 жыл бұрын
What what? I mean they are great, but since they are still making new V12s I don't think the prices would go through the roof so fast.

Gees, could've given Sir S a go behind the wheel - I'd love to see that. He's a bloody good reviewer though, even if he tests cars I'm not likely ever to even see.

Tiff - ex review as always. I actually own one these, and I love it. However even with the handling package, this is still a VERY hairy ride. The back just wants to let loose at the slightest twitch of the throttle. Unless you're a very experienced driver, it's a real handful and pretty scary at times.

never drove this car in real life, but I drove it in GranTurismo 5 with a wheel a DFGT, one of the cheaper ones, that is however as good as the real thing, why ? I'll explain. The game has the 599GTB with the handlng package & much to my surprise the result is the same as tiff says right here. It understeers, this can be converted using throttle input into mild or snap oversteer, but its not as managleble as other rwd cars or its stablemate the 458 italia. I recal doing an online synced time trial on monza staged polyphony the choice of cars was the "base" 599 GTB & Lambo gallardo lp 560-4 and. I figured with the long straight & milder bends of the mid to last section of the track the 599 with its bug v12 & horsepower advantage should win. the weight was similar due to the lambos rwd system, however my fastest time was consistenly in the lambo as was most of the other contestants who chose to use the lambo. The ferrari being my preferred & non engineperformance modifications allowed, due to performance bracket limitations I tries tuning the handling with racing spec suspension. Not being a Ferrari engineer & just a self taught, what does this do tweaker, using extremes to gauge functionality of each modifier, i was able to tune out some of the under-steer, however the traction in the exit & low grip of the gallardo was too much for the hundred horsepower advantage of the 599 to make up. plus using the gallardo & doing the same kind of tune & changing the front rear traction balance to 25-75 or even 20-80 had a better effect without inducing to much oversteer. In short the car desperately needed the HGTE tune that ferrari introduced, Its good to see that Ferrari has ways of making their own do what is needed when they don't go as instructed from the factory, nice to know with the HGTE kit the handling of the 599 went from a 5(by ferrari standards) to a 7, with the 599GTO being a 9 on that level. Its doesn't has the awd of a lamborg & doesn't needit, that HGTE package is like the straps his suspenders, it pulls it all together & make it decent overall package. a long gone car, however the lineage & ferrari's willingness to fix things when needed is impressive. they did the same with the california in the mid cycle first gen refresh, by adding power & tweaking the handling. cheers to ferrari my supercar brand, no contest really, however in the competition in question the lambo got me into the initial top 200 ranking. the 599 not so much, in the hands of a more skilled drover & with a better wheel who knows. but the experience the 599 was more fun

@Jimbo80123 жыл бұрын
Cars have come along way in the last 10 years and do you really think the 599 is a proper track car?! It's a 1 3/4 tonne front engined rear wheel drive GT car with a 6.0 V12 up front. It's not going to be last word in handling. If you want a track car, you pick a mid engined supercar/hypercar or a track version 911.
