And Superman turns out to be a humble person, and still gave Aquaman and Wonder Woman the chance to deliver some hits to Steppenwolf while he watched from the back 😂. Justice League has so much potential if done correctly, but WB is too impatient to outpace Marvel. Its a pity, I feel that many of DC's standalone movies like Wonder Woman, Man of Steel, Aquaman and Shazam are better than many of MCU's standalone movies.

There is just no point with a movie where Superman can beat anyone in one second. He can fly around the world in a second, and is strong enough to destroy the Earth if he wants to. He is invulnerable. Why would he need allies? How could he possibly have enemies? They all pull out kryptonite, which is absurd - pieces from a planet that exploded far away and went through space randomly, and dozens of them somehow landed on Earth. But why would that stop Superman when he can just fly high in the air and throw rocks, or freeze a kryptonite-holding enemy with his breath? They have to constantly nerf Superman by making him extremely stupid. Landing in front of a villain to talk. Moving far slower than he is capable of. I see no point in paying anything to go see such a character.

That‘s why they let him life and go to jail. I think we will see the vulture again with the sinister 6 in Spider-Man 3. Sony wants to bring Venom into the MCU/Spideyverse, i could see something like: Green Goblin, Vulture, Shocker, Sandman (survivor of the elementals in Far from home), Mysterio and Carnage vs Spidey & Venom + someone like Falcon and Winter Soldier in the last battle. MCU understand one thing far more better than DCEU, people love cameos, they love collaborations! They love that it all paints a bigger universe. I never understand why they don’t took flash from the show..and gave for example Cyborg a mini arc in it like 2 or 3 episodes. You would have got a Flash everybody likes + a Cyborg people outside of DC fans know. For example, MCU needs someone the can mash up with a new hero? They can always take Quake or Ghostrider from AoS because it is the same Universe.

You made some valid points but you missed the biggest reason why Marvel succeeds and DC doesn't... Marvel is more patient. That's right. Marvel built up to infinity war for a decade, starting with Iron Man. DC did very little character building. They should have had a Flash movie. They should have had a Cyborg movie or two. They should have sat down and planned out every movie before shooting the first movie. That's the truth.

@Tory Livingston They were simply mentioned there, just a cameo. They had no characterization nor build up. That's the problem, you can't rush these things. Iron Man had like 3 solo movies before Infinity War, so did Captain America. Thor, Hulk, and the Guardians got their own movies too, Spidey did too. The other Avengers movies gave even more development on their relationships. Heck, just about everyone got their own movies.The point is that we got to understand these characters and grow attached to them. We watched their struggles and accomplishments in their respective movies, so when the time came for all of them to meet, it ended up being a storm of emotion. We know who these heroes are, not as characters, but as people. Say there's an upcoming football game this week and you're going. If some stranger just approaches and tells you he's playing, you wouldn't care for them. However, if your bestfriend, lover, or sibling happens to be a player for the game, how they would do is gonna be as important to you as it is for them. That's the difference between DC and Marvel; DC rushed it and tossed everyone in, while Marvel took it slow.

Marvel: Let's craft a ten-year plan to tell the biggest superhero story ever put on the big screen. Y'know, do what we did in the comics, but live action. DC (Warner): We want the money that Marvel is making. That's the problem, along with everyone else trying to jump on the shared-universe bandwagon. They're not doing it in order to craft a huge story, they're doing it because they've seen Marvel make tons of money doing it and want a piece of that pie. They're not willing to put in the time and effort to develop it slowly, because they want the big bucks now. Avengers was the big money-maker, so they want to skip straight to that one, ignoring the fact that is was the build-up that made Avengers successful. Its like someone looking at the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Oh look, Return of the King was showered with awards and made lots of money, let's find ourselves a cool fantasy series and skip straight to the last part. What, nobody liked our film? I don't get it?

Exactly! But,The sad part is... DC COULD have "caught up" easily. and they botched it. I'm talking about BvS. At first ,People were rushing in to see freaking SUPERMAN and BATMAN on the big screen together for the 1st time. It was bad and word of mouth slowed it down. If it was actually good it would have done really well. All they had to do with setup for TWO CHARACTERS . TWO CHARACTERS

@megamage911
@megamage911 6 жыл бұрын
Justin Aguilar I mean, ofc they're doing it for the money, they're a business, that's how businesses work, but at least Marvel were smart enough to actually do it properly. And as had been mentioned, and this is what I've been saying since BvS, DC seem much more focused on trying to catch up to where Marvel is now, than actually making a proper universe that the fans will get invested in. It's fucking sad when even die-hard DC fans have to admit that Marvel is actually doing it better. Hell, it kills ME that they're botching it like this, cuz I fucking love DC. I grew up with the Bruce Timm shows, and those were absolutely amazing, and they were technically one of the first versions of a shared universe like this, though I think the Marvel shows with X-men and Spiderman were a bit earlier, but my point still stands, they were able to create a proper and good universe back then. Hell, they've been crafting a great universe in their tv-shows with the Arrowverse for years now, so obviously somebody working at DC knows what they're doing, but for some reason they can't translate that into their movies, idk what the hell is going on! Sry for my ramblings, I'll cut it off here xD
@G_-ue9bq
@G_-ue9bq 6 жыл бұрын
Took the words right out of my mouth. Marvel gave us time to familiarize ourselves with the characters and we grew to love them. DC kinda just jumped straight into the team up films, shoe horning doomsday into batman v superman and killing off superman way too soon. They were desperately trying to catch up with marvel and that was their downfall.

Quinn Dang No, DC's comics absolutely translates to film but they aren't inherently dark. The problem is that each character has a big personality and are completely separate from each other. Batman is the dark brooding type, Superman is the hopeful ray of sunshine, Flash is the comic relief, Wonder Woman is the powerful combat expert, Aquaman is the stoic takes no bullshit guy, Cyborg is the tech support newbie. The way these characters interact with each other is what makes bringing them together interesting. Unfortunately DC just goes way too dark for everyone and then doesn't even capitalize on their differences. I honestly couldn't stand watching more than 10 minutes of JL before turning it off and I love these characters. It's the world building that's already been set up that makes these characters less appealing. It's the shortcut to a Justice League film when only Superman and Wonder Woman have had a movie to build up their characters. It's lazy work plain and simple. Marvel earned it's team up film and capitalized on it's characters. DC on the other hand just wants money and it shows. Justice League movie only after 1 Superman film where he's introduced to the world and a half assed sequel that focused more on Batman who's fucking older by the way so we have a brand new Superman and an aging Batman who haven't even developed their relationship yet but we're supposed to buy that they respect each other by the end of BvS when they still have no actual meaningful interactions with each other. Hell even Superman has yet to have meaningful interactions with anyone besides Louis yet we're supposed to believe he was some beacon of hope. Show don't tell. I was never shown how Superman was a beacon of hope seeing as how his first film took half of it's runtime to expose him to the world and it's sequel just glorified him immediately as though he's been doing it for years. Wonder Woman was an out of time film so it doesn't do much other than inform her character but also creates inconsistencies considering her arc in her solo film doesn't line up with her actions in BvS. There just is no consistency. WB just keeps running around trying every fucking idea but then gets in the way of the creative freedom of it's investment which ruins the original product. Suicide Squad was a shit film because they took a gamble on a company who exclusively edits movie trailer to cut the entire film and that absolutely shows because it's complete shit. Way to ruin the director's vision. Reshoots for JL changed the tone and direction of Snyder's cut which probably wasn't all that better but still one singular vision. Too many hands in the cookie jar. If you hire people for a job, LET THEM DO THEIR FUCKING JOBS!
@Lockn3s5

Quinn Dang Initially every character was pretty dark. Imagine what Synder's original cut would have been like. The lightheartedness only came in after Joss Wheadon came with reshoots. That initial statement I made was in relation to BvS where both title characters were practically no different. Both equally somber and brooding with no inherent differences between the two and no idealogical differences. Their conflict came down to hating each other for doing exactly what the other is doing. They are the same and are bitching to each other for doing things they both each do. It was fucking retarded to watch. Superman wasn't hopeful he was like tired and annoyed. Carrying the weight of the world that didn't appreciate him. Batman wasn't hopeful, carrying the weight of the world.... you get what I mean. The movie didn't capitalize on their differences and expected it's audience to just love that the two characters were in a movie together.

DC needs Dr. Manhattan. In the DCEU, they should just chock the creation of the DC Universe up to Dr. Manhattan, and introduce live action versions of the different universes. If they follow the comics out now, they'll do well.

I love DC Comics but the DCEU Movies are just bad from a Cineastic standpoint. They are just bad movies. Full Stop. DC is chucked full of great characters and storylines, but time and time again the modern DC movies are rushed to death. They feel the need to pump out something to compete with the "epicness" of an avengers when they haven't spent a decade establishing every single character with an own trilogy. Imagine a DCEU based on the Dark knight trilogy. 1 dark Superman movie and then a BvS with Christian Bale Batman returning to Gotham. Then maybe first an Aquaman movie. THen a Wonderwoman. Then another Superman movie. And THEN you let them team up and introduce one or two new ones like Flash. But instead they base their Universe on one really shitty Supermanmovie (seriously, if you can't see that MoS was just plain shit then i don't even know what we are talking about here) and then cram down a Justice League with characters we haven't seen before without any emotional attachment. Thats the difference. When people went to see Infinity War, they spent time with a Tony Stark they have known for over a fucking decade and have seen in a dozend movies. You care about a character like that. You don't give a flying fuck about "Cyborg", that robo-dude you learned about 6 mintues ago who sticks his CGI hand into some CGI box. Great story ark...

AVENGERS took 10 years and 15 movies before infinity war. Properly introduced every character. And slowly built it's roster, and the big reason. THEY FOLLOWED THE COMIC BOOK SOURCE MATERIAL! (Mostly) Justice League was a rushed project with 3 independent movies before it. Wonder Woman was really the only good one. Man of steel was decent, BVS was trash. Plus, no Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, or Martian Manhunter. The real real villians of the DCEU are the writers, and the CGI team.

Infinity War > Justice League for many reasons, but here's one that stuck out to me: Thor = is the strongest Avenger, and is a GOD. But has NEVER been shown actually defeating any of the other members of the group. Iron Man...Captain America...Hulk... all have held there own. In doing that, Thor doesnt make ANYBODY on the team seem useless or far inferior, despite being a god. Also, the beginning of Infinity War shows Thor DEFEATED........ Thor does show up to save the day but at the very last minute... but not on his own strength, he needed a new weapon... and he fails! Superman = Is clearly the strongest of the JL. and has been shown to be just as fast as the Flash, strong enough to defeat the entire team in less than a minute of being resurrected, and throughout the movie depicted by Batman and the group as the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT person needed to defeat the villain. AND he does it barely breaking a sweat without any help, and showed no growth as a character at all!! so... whats the point in having a team? basically, Thor is a supporting character and is not the only reason the team fails or wins. He just plays a part. On the other hand, all is lost with the Justice League without Superman. THAT is a huge writing error.

therealrickytan no, that's where you're wrong: Superman's superiority to Steppenwolf wasn't a writing error, it was spot on. Life isn't always fair, and sometimes the bad guys get their asses kicked. The Justice league still saved some other people or held their own while Superman saved people's lives, which if you think about it, is all everyone but Thor and Hulk did in Avengers 1. I think Thor could have eventually defeated that entire army and Loki, but NY would have been nuked. Superman is the most powerful super hero ever written. That's his thing, and that's why people love him. I would have been pissed if they made superman a bitch.

This is my biggest complaint about JL as well. Why call it justice league when its literally just operation revive superman so he can do everything while you guys watch and are useless. Its supposed to be a teamup movie but the team is useless. Also superman couldve easily won it before the team even got there but he was dicking around with lois while the world was being conquered. Basically superman was way too op in this and made the team feel useless, which makes the movie feel pointless since it was based around the team the entire movie. It just maks the viewer wonder wtf was the point of this mess. In the animated shows superman isnt depicted this way, in the other depictions of the justice league superman isnt just completely carrying the team, the team is working together to save the day, and thats what this movie misses entirely. and thats not including the countless other blunders. Its just wrong in so many ways.

Big difference is the comedic moments. In Marvel the jokes are more subtle & are seamless to the story. And are actually funny. DC follows the Star Wars comedy theme. Simplistic & silly on the level of fart jokes for three year olds. The choice of actors is far superior as well. Marvel gets good actors that are baby faces while DC just goes for baby faces that can’t act.

Difference is in the characters. Most of the MCU cast can laugh, has gotten their demons behind them, it´s in character to kid. Iron Man is never seen NOT being sarcastic, the guy always jokes, established and canonized. Spidey is a teenager with no big trauma behind, joking is to be expected. Captain America has few quips, but more restrained as he grew more grumpy. Look at the DCEU, Batman should not EVER joke in the position he is. (the dude is on murderous rampages against crime, sure he can laugh?) Superman is seen to either be thinking, sobbing or fighting, not much fun there. (good thing he didnt kid around) Cyborg is a depressed Teen, turned into a cyborg by a space Lunchbox. (He never was too happy) DCs cast should stay more dark and gritty, instead of being forced to joke and fool around, it´s just out of character and stupid if they are.

One thing i don't see mentioned a lot, and it's one out of many reasons why Justice League freaking sucks balls, is that in Infinity War there's hope. The entire movie you feel that the heroes can actually beat Thanos. Sure, maybe you think it should be clear they can't beat him once you put some thought into it; sure, he is indeed _very_ strong and each stone makes him even stronger; but it never _FEELS_ like he is invincible. He gets a new stone, we think "oh well, it's done now" and then we see the heroes actually making an effort that looks to be working. On the other hand, in Justice League, it is established - way too early, by the way - that nobody besides Superman has a slight chance against Steppenwolf. Every time Steppenwolf is on screen - except for the scenes after Superman shows up, obviously - he's kicking _EVERYBODY_ 's ass with ease. He's not even struggling. They can't "make him bleed", they can't make him have to change his plans on the spot, nothing of that. He just moves them out of his way like pebbles and does his thing. Which makes it even worse once Superman gets his shot at Steppenwolf and we see that it's a fucking breeze. He can deal with the big baddie with a single hand. God, that movie fucking sucks...

What DC really needs is that consistent vision, they need a Kevin Feige, and not just someone to run things but someone actually given the power to decide. Not someone to put a name and then studio still tries to interfere. Look at how Disney runs Marvel, sure they own Marvel and they got rules, but Kevin Feige is still left alone with considerable power to build his vision with his filmmakers. And even when the films broach different genres and subjects, you have one guy who is moving all the films into position. It’s long term planning, consistent vision, and a studio that’s willing to step back and let their people do their work. WB has consistently been meddling with DC properties and having panic attacks every five seconds. They’re so busy playing catch up that they don’t even have a plan or a tactic and even if someone did, they never follow through on it because they freak out and change their minds at the drop of a hat. Every time someone didn’t like a DC film, WB and DC makes some swerve to try something else, whereas Marvel has had their fair share of hiccups along the way yet they stick to their vision. They aren’t letting public perception color what they want to tell and they follow their roadmap while gently course correcting with each film. You don’t see Marvel panicking and throwing up all their plans all over and freak out. Marvel is calm and collected, they keep their heads down and do their work. They built this universe step by step, brick by brick, there was a good foundation of films to hold the world together. DC was too busy trying to please everyone to stick to their vision and build their universe step by step to create that foundation. You can’t make a house if the foundation is shaky. DC and WB is having the same problems that all these modern cinematic universes are having and why they’re all failing, because the mentality is all wrong and the tactics are all wrong. Yes everyone wants a cinematic universe but don’t announce 24 films ahead when you haven’t even set a foundation. Focus on the one movie out of the gate and make it good and if that works, then announce the next one and the next and then slowly build the universe. Kevin Feige literally gave the most important advice for creating a sustaining film universe, which no one seems to be taking to heart, focus on that one movie and make that good, the rest will come later. Marvel did not come into this all “we’re gonna do 20 films and infinity war woo”, no they started with Iron Man and it was all about let’s make this movie work and we can think of the rest later. Building a universe was not the center point of Iron Man, the story of Iron Man itself was the focus, anything else is icing on the cake. Marvel has laid out the ways to do it right, but everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too that no one is willing to be patient and wait and earn that payoff

Snyder had a plan; WB wanted money and started intervening the moment feedback came in for Man of Steel - I still don't think Snyder has what it takes to helm a franchise like this - the man can't tell a story in a single movie, let alone spread across multiple movies - but it's telling that the DCEU's big success story is the movie that had least studio meddling...

Another thing to point out is Marvel had many more movies to set up the character arcs and build towards this final confrontation, even when they weren't explicitly doing so (and probably didn't know whether they'd be able to pull it off). This makes the viewer investing more into each of the heroes, and also creates consistency. More round characters, developed and believable goals and stakes. I think JL got hurt from the lack of planning and editorial vision of the DCU. Their origin stories were so dissimilar in tone and theme, that even if the execution had been on par (DC cgi still feels cheap to me) Marvel was years ahead to create a memorable crossover event because of that consistency and character development.

My two cents: Infinity war was focused more on Thanos than the heroes, and I was fine with it. I already knew who the heroes were due to prior films (My family owns most of them) So I didn't need an exposition dump about them. I honestly can't remember anything about Steppen wolf or any of the JL other than (Spoiler for Man of Steel) Super man kills Zan, Zon? dunno. I knew who the main cast were, not the villain, the part of the film that we're supposed to be afraid of. What did Steppen wolf want? domination? (I forget) let me just roll my eyes for that cliche. What did Thanos want? Spoiler for Infinity War. Thanos believed that by killing half of the universe he could save the other half, and saw it work on a smaller scale on just a single world. I can see that line of logic and it terrifies me. Sacrifice the few for the needs of the many. It's wrong but it can seem so right at times. Thanos scares me, not because he's so powerful, but because his motives scare me. If someone truly believes that what they do is right, there is no redemption as they're not necessarily evil, there is no convincing him as he already believes that he's in the right and has already deemed that the current process doesn't work anymore or will end in suffering and failure. Thanos was even willing to sacrifice his adopted daughter, it brought tears to his eyes and the movie focused on it in a very believable way. I will be remembering Thanos for a long time. Steppen wolf I will not

Another point to the MCU is how REALISTIC Thanos is, especially with the current political and economic climates all around the world. What Thanos is doing may seem crazy in theory, but the core of his actions are actually something happening, right this moment, in real life. There are actual powerful figures in OUR world hurting countless, faceless innocent people, not because they’re evil, but because they genuinely think they’re doing what’s best for the majority. For Thanos and for these-who-must-not-be-named, what would’ve otherwise just been the ramblings of a mad man became a real threat because they have the power and resources to put actions to word. Meanwhile-how many real life people ramble about out-and-out world destruction anyway?

That's what I love about Thanos as a villain. People can understand his goal, or to their horror, even agree with it. @@TwelveK No, they weren't. You can't just shoehorn characters in with a fucking email and expect the audience to get excited it understand what's going on. DC's biggest issue is their assumption that these characters are so famous that no introduction is needed. Cinema doesn't work like that, you need to establish these characters in the films without the preconceived notion that everyone already knows who they are. That's why Iron Man had 2 films before Avengers, Thor and Captain America had one film and so on. It's also why Black Widow is basically co-lead in The Winter Soldier, because even though she's been introduced before hand, character expansion is needed for the audience to get invested. That's why there's a third Spider-Man series too. You can't just put Spider-Man in such an impactful role in a film like Infinity War and expect the audience to be emotionally invested because it's Spider-Man. Doctor Strange and Ant-Man are so obscure and even though have their own films, that are great at again, establishing the characters before they become important in the bigger films, especially Doctor Strange. DC has to understand that making $300 million Superhero films without establishing the characters, no matter how famous, is a terrible, stupid idea.

Spider-Man was shoehorned into the MCU without any establishment or a solo film but people still enjoyed his performance in Civil War. Same thing with Black Panther because I don't know who he is or how he's able to kick Winter Soldier's ass but he still got a standing ovation from the fans. None of the Guardians of the Galaxy characters had any solo films and yet, they were still properly established (although we still know nothing about Rocket Racoon or Groot and we had to wait till Infinity War to know Gamora's story). Meanwhile, Flash already has a TV show that explores how he got his powers and what his characteristics are so he already has his establishment. We all saw how Cyborg was created in BvS and I wish Warner Bros. hadn't cut out so many scenes from Justice League that could've showed more of his story. Lastly, I will admit that Aquaman should've had his solo film out first before Justice League was released.

What makes infinity war so good to me is how well it balances an excess of probably like 30 different characters and still everyone has at least one moment to shine and make their presence known. In the 3rd act it all condenses into 2 parallel conflicts: the crew on Titan trying to protect the time stone and the crew on Wakanda protecting the mind stone, and both have enough stakes and stuff going on each one could honestly maybe get their own full length movie, yet they’re intertwined in such a way that works because they have the same objective and tone while featuring completely different settings and characters. Infinity war is just so good man. Since its release it’s become possibly my favorite marvel movie ever, including the non-mcu movies.

There are several things wrong with DCEU 1. The prioritize Big name casting over actual talent casting. 2. They rushed their universe to make a group movie like the avengers. 3. They relied to much on us knowing who the characters are already. But just cause they are recognizable names doesn’t mean we know the DCEU versions of these characters they should’ve gave each one their own movie so we could grow attached to said characters. 4. DCs characters tend to be over powered and have over lapping abilities which makes for boring action. You honestly don’t need any other super hero other then Superman. They have very few weakness so them comming together just seems like putting a hat on a hat ... doesn’t add anything.

1-Give me just one example of that. An i may remind you that we have someone like Johansson playing Black Widow. 2-Not true, just because some people did not liked the structure because it did not ripped off the mcu that does not mean is bad, did they rushed it? A little, but we never saw the actual Justice League but a butchered mess, so we dont know if it would have worked or not. 3-This point makes absolutely no sense. May i remind you that Black Panther was introduced to mass casual audiences in another character movie. 4-This point makes absolutely no sense, go read a comic book.
@houndofculann1793
@houndofculann1793 6 жыл бұрын
Et Cogito Ergo Sum 1-I agree with you, none of the JL cast are that big names 2-I think what most people mean by the rushed DCEU is that instead of making a few solo movies of the big heroes to build up the characters and the world before their team-up, they made 2/3 solo movies and 2 team-up movies (SS is kind of more of a solo movie like GotG since those characters in those settings aren't meant to be alone, but a team) without actually building the background of anyone else than Superman and WW 3-Introduced, yes, but his backstory was made clear and further built upon with a solo movie afterwards, like MCU Spider Man. None of the DCEU characters get that treatment aside of the two mentioned above 4-Although a bit misguided, his point does make sense. It's not so much that the overlapping powers are an issue, the real problem is that the writers of the DCEU seem to not be as imaginative as the MCU ones and have a tendency to only showcase the overlapping powers of the heroes instead of their unique ones.

"4. DCs characters tend to be over powered and have over lapping abilities which makes for boring action. You honestly don’t need any other super hero other then Superman." No,That's like saying Thor doesn't need the Avengers. It's about being stronger together as a team. The chemistry,etc./ just doesn't know how to balance their heroes like Marvel. I.E Bruce ,Tony,Shuri, & Strange are both smart in their own way. DC put Cyborg on the team,So Batman stop being the tech savy guy. Meanwhile,Comic wise it's the reverse. Cyborg is on the team,but Batman makes him pointless. Often times no one is allowed to be smart around Batman. It's not powers,it's DC at times,doesn't know how to make characters share the light.

Not really, MoS was pretty good, and BvS was good (yes, it was, not perfect, but good) SS was awful because of poitnless editing by not teh director, WW was generic and mediocre, and JL was terrible because of reshoots. The mcu on the other hand has been pretty uneven, we got good stuff, but also really bad movies like Iron Man 3, Thor Ragnarok, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man and its sequel, etc, the problem is that disney keeps everything very childish, very mainstream and with mass appeal, Infinity War was the closest they got to making an actual Marvel movie and it still had stupid shit in it, like dumb, forced, out of place, out of character jokes.

So I know I’m a bit late to the party but I think the reason thanos was such a good villain (other than what u said) is that we can empathise with him. While killing half off all life is a not so great idea, we understand why he’s doing it and where he’s coming from. If he had acted differently he could have been the good guy in his attempts to save other planets from what his went through. The fact that he took it so far is what makes him bad not so much his original underlying theme.

Ego isn't compelling at all and is probably the main reason I dont like Guardians 2. The twist is not even that surprising. Also there's a big problem that he wasnt even the main villain until the 1.5 hour mark which is exactly 2/3 though the movie. And its way to drastic of a shift. Even though it was pretty obvious that Ego was going to be the villain, they wanted to make him super evil, and so he goes from a guy that takes naps. and plays catch, to someone that has murdered thousands of his own children, and that fact is simply glossed over.

About each character having their own motivations, though, this only worked because of years of MCU leading up to this. Including Infinity War, off the top of my head: Iron Man has had 3 movies appeared in 7 Hulk has had 1 appeared in 5 Thor had 3 appeared in 5 Captain America had 3 appeared in 6 Guardians of the Galaxy had 2 appeared in 3 Spider-Man had 1 appeared in 3 Doctor Strange had 1 appeared in 3 Black Panther had 1 appeared in 3 Black Widow appeared in 3 Scarlet Witch appeared in 3 Vision appeared in 3 War Machine appeared in 4 Falcon appeared in 4 Like how many new characters were introduced in Inifinity War, and how many of them were heroes? Leading up to Justice League we've had: Man of Steel, Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad (which featured none of the heroes unless you count references to them), Wonder Woman, and then Justice League. This alone explains a lot of the problem. How do you spend any time developing a villain when half your heroes have just appeared on screen for the first time?

Hulk had 2 movies. With Bana first, then sequel with Norton. Spoodey's backstory was basically stamped into people's minds with previous movies, which are not MCU but those are the main reason why Marvel refrained from repeating all that Uncle Ben's death shit third time. Homecoming was more like reminder of who this guy is, there was no need in deep introducing. And just for nitpicking = there was one scene with Batman in Suicide Squad.

You still got world building for the main characters in Marvel’s favor. Whence they were able to have a 6 man roster with way fewer people getting confused than with JL. Also a villain who is likable and had a pretty clear motive. Steppenwolf is bland and generic. A fair comparison would Thor the Dark World. It’s a team of heroes, most of whom you don’t care about, and an OPed leader in Thor. And the villains between both movies are totally interchangeable.
