There is actually a good reason for that. You can only give out each score once, so someone will always get a 9 and someone will always get a 2 (from each singer). Diana's performance last week for the Grammy category really motivated everyone by setting a bar. The result showed this weekend. I thought everyone did much better overall as there were some really solid performances. Especially from Julia (who won the day), the older lady (who Diana gave a 9 to), and the dude who sang Stay. Haven't quite learned all their names yet. I recognize the Cyrillic for their names but not yet the phonology for them. Fortunately it's a phonetic script so I'll get it eventually. Originally I was just going to watch Diana's performances but since they are uploading the full episodes to watch and some of these people are starting to show their true chops I'll be watching the full episodes. This will be good for Diana to not have a free win (people need to be challenged). Will also be good for the other singers. There is one "your choice" category. It will be interesting what Diana picks because she really likes the road less traveled. Could be really ethnic/tribal with her yodels on full display or something else entirely. With her love of the 80s based on her previous covers (Bananarama, Scorpions, A-ha) I wouldn't be surprised if we got something involving the electric guitar. Ever since she did that Scorpions cover I've been waiting for something like that.

Diana is a pure contralto (thicker vocal chords, of course). She has the lower voice for women so she goes in all areas of a male tenor. Also, Diana has a lot of skills manipulating her tongue, palate and larinx to open more space and reach lower notes with extreme power and ressonance and has a broad range for her voice, reaching unexpected high notes.

Skill, training, and the same gift Cher has...except, dare I say, Cher doesn't have this young lady's vocal range. I hope she keeps herself surrounded with some people that are honest, and have integrity. You can compare Diana to many other singers, but no one of this comparison will be true. It is not only her vocal range what makes her stand out, you can add many more other qualities to it: unbelievable stage present and acting abilities, tember, emotions, polyphonic sound. Skill, probably not the right word. TALENT and hard work.
