It was recorded before Thriller (1981) but released after Thriller (1983). Also La Toya is in this because she and Michael were get close (especially around this time) and because she was a fan of Paul so he invited her along and have her a role. Also some of the scenes were filmed at a ranch that Michael would end up buying and naming Neverland

During the filming of "Say, Say, Say," MJ visited Paul Mccartney who was staying at Sycamore Valley Ranch. A few years later MJ bought the Ranch and turned it into Neverland. MJ’s vocals are unmatched he’s Thee Greatest Music Artist Of All Time/Vocalist! For a great reason too simply cause of how versatile the man truly was/is he super soulful gotta check out more of MJ’s discography he’s done World Music,Pop,R&B,Hip Hop,Disco,Funk,Soul,Heavy Metal,Rock,Country,DubStep,Opera etc. he’s phenomenal and dominated the music industry from Childhood To Adulthood And MJ’s vocals are unmatched I prefer the MJ alternate version with most of the parts being sung by Michael himself Long Live The King Of Music Forever! MJ influences are James Brown,Jackie Wilson,Fred Astaire & Sammy Davis Jr. so his default vocal performance is to always go raw MJ is incomparable!😇🙌🏽👑💕💫(And yes that’s MJ’s sister Latoya who is playing his love interest at 8:15 in this Short Film it’s just acting also he was giving her a opportunity in the music industry being the lovely brother MJ truly was/is btw this song went straight to Number 1 it also came out after the Thriller album was released in 1983.)

MJ was first informed that the ATV/Beatles catalogue was up for sale in September 1984 by his attorney, John Branca, who had put together Jackson's earlier catalogue acquisitions. Warned of the competition he would face in buying such popular songs, Jackson remained resolute in his decision to purchase them. Branca approached McCartney's attorney to query whether the Beatle was planning to bid. The attorney stated he wasn't; it was "too pricey." According to Bert Reuter, who negotiated the sale of ATV Music for Holmes à Court, "We had given Paul McCartney first right of refusal but Paul didn't want it at that time." Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono had been contacted as well but also did not enter bidding and was said to be happy that MJ acquired the catalogue. >>> MJ is too nice for his cruel friends,and a savvy businessman man!✍🏽👑🎯💯

@debjorgo
@debjorgo Ай бұрын
Paul wanted to split the purchase with Yoko, because it was Lennon and McCartney songs. She was the one who did not want to pony up the price Paul thought they needed to bid. Meanwhile, Michael, who Paul had recommended to buy into music catalogs, bid way more than the catalog was worth. (Some say Yoko, she and son Sean were friends with Mike as well, told Michael what he needed to bid. Yoko thought she could manipulate Michael easier than Paul and get her way with the catalog.) Paul was upset but says he thought if Michael owned the music, he should ask for a raise. He certainly did not say anything bad about Michael, after he had died. He said he was a very lovely man, and he was sad that he had passed.

Latoya was a big fan of Paul's and Michael needed to find a way to get them to technically work together and the reason why the Jacksons weren't weirded out by this is because they had a variety TV show where they did skits as well as dancing and singing and in some of those skits they would play a couple for the 2-minute sketches but it would never get out of hand

It was so great to be alive and experience the genius of this Man-child and the wonders he brought to this world. Keep in mind that the BEATLES did the SAME thing in the '60s, when it was BEATLEMANIA and even with MJ, there hasn't been anything as manic as it was from 1963- 1970 during the Beatles career together. I was there and I saw it all. T The day they arrived in America for the first time on Feb.7, 1964, it was ALL over the TV news, even interrupting afternoon TV shows to show the Beatles' press conference at JFK airport after they arrived. Thousands of teenagers lined the observation deck to see them get off the plane. In all the NEWSPAPERS across the country, they were FRONT PAGE NEWS the day they landed. One city's newspaper the headlines were in 3 inch high thick black letters that simply said, "THEY"RE HERE!!" It didn't even mention their name. The whole country KNEW when and where they were arriving. Their first single in the US "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" was released on Dec. 26, 1963. That is when I first heard it, and I was immediately struck by it's sound. I didn't even know who it was and hadn't seen a photo of them yet. I was already loving what I heard. They were in the U.S for 2 weeks for 3 consecutive performance on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW. The third was taped the afternoon of their first appearance and then played that 3rd Sunday. The Beatles had already returned to England earlier in the week. The thing was, they were in the newspapers EVERY DAY while they were here, reporting on where they were and what they were doing. They also performed their first concert in the US on Feb. 11, 1964 (2 days after the first Sullivan show) at the WASHINGTON COLISEUM in D.C. On Feb. 12, the did a concert in CARNEGIE HALL in NYC. They were the FIRST rock group to perform in that prestigious hall. Before that only symphony orchestras. operas and ballets performed there. The Ed Sullivan theater only seats about 700 people, there were 25,000 requests for that first night's appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show! They stayed in the newspapers almost daily for that first year and continued to have articles written about them all the way through their career. I know because I used to go through the 2 daily newspapers in my city and cut out any articles or pictures about them, I have a box full of those clippings. Still have them, but there are so many, it would take forever to put them all in scrapbooks and I would need an entire room of shelves to house them. Their music STILL sells today and it's not going to die out any time soon. Many people are still discovering and loving their music today. We original "first generation fans" LOVE watching reactors, here, going down the Beatles' "rabbit hole " and watching THEM react to the Beatles music the same way WE did when we first heard every new single and album, with pure joy. ALL these reactors of every race, age and nationality, have become fellow Beatles fans, also referred to as "Beatlemaniacs" They are loving them and often say they WISH they could have been around back in the '60s. What also attracts these reactors is how versatile their music is, covering all types of music and some can't even pigeonhole their music into a particular style. We always tell them, they were their OWN "genre"! They never stayed the same and were never boring. We couldn't wait to see what they were going to do next. They are the most influential band ever, changing music, fashion, hairstyles, attitudes, everything. When they arrived here, it was like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz going from her black and white world, and opening the door to a world of color in OZ. They are the soundtrack of my life. The music I went to when I was sad, and needed comfort, cheering up, relax to, or just dance. It will be 60 years on Dec. 26th 2024 since my 16 year old ears first heard "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and have been listening to all their music as the Beatles and each of their solo music after they broke up, ever since. I have NEVER tired of it, I always feel like that teenager and in my early 20s whenever I listen to their music.

To make it complete: they did 2 songs for the McCartney album Pipes of Peace (this one and The Man) and ofc they did The girl is mine on Thriller. Even before that MJ covered McCartney's song Girlfriend on Off the wall and from the Beatles music rights he covered Come together which was mostly a Lennon creation. The Jackson 5 did some Let it be covers during performances but never on the record.

If you're gonna do the Beatles (and you should), you should start at the beginning of their catalog and work your way forward. Maybe not every song, but a good sample from each album. That way you'll get to hear, feel, and understand not only their growth as a band, but really the growth of modern rock/pop music. They were (are) SO influential. Some will say their early music isn't as good as the later stuff, but i don't think that statement holds up. The early stuff isn't quite as revolutionary as the later stuff, but still always on the leading edge of the evolution of popular music.

The narrative of the video is reminiscent to the street hustle. Similar to what was known as 3 card molly during the 80s. The hustle was to lure in unsuspecting gamblers who liked to gamble. The ploy was to get ppl who were just standing by to intrigue passersby as they viewed someone winning. Not knowing that the winner was actually part of the crew. So Latoyas presence in the video was supposed to be a new venture they were going to be on. Shes recognizable because thats what they wanted the viewers to know. She was going to be in on their new hustle. But the video plays it out like a love interest but it's us tgat are the ones being hustled and confused just like the actors in their first hustle. Thats all it is.

Michael asked Paul if he would mind if he bought the catalog. Paul and Yoko were going to buy it together but decided against because it was so expensive. That’s when Michael moved forward. I think their falling out was more due to the fact that Michael allowed a Beatles song in a commercial. Paul didn’t want that to happen feeling it will be overplayed but Michael allowed it anyway supposedly telling Paul, it’s just business.
