Darius Rucker played this song in Djibouti Africa for us troops in 2013. Every soldier was singing at the top of their lungs. Yes, it made me miss home and my wife. It was the greatest gift we could receive. Thank you, Mr. Rucker. Thank you for supporting the troops!

Britt, Darius certainly does this song justice. However, you need to hear Old Crow Medicine Show do it. Also the fiddle and violin are the same instrument. Country folks typically call it a fiddleand they're usually played in a different style.

The song "Wagon Wheel" was written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor. The song has an interesting history: Bob Dylan originally wrote a sketch of the song in the 1970s but never completed it or officially released it. Years later, Ketch Secor of the band Old Crow Medicine Show discovered the unfinished Dylan song and wrote additional verses to complete it. The version popularized by Old Crow Medicine Show became a major hit and is the most well-known rendition of the song. "Wagon Wheel" has since been covered by various artists, further contributing to its widespread popularity.

Met that man in a hotel elevator in a small little port town in Texas. I just acted like I didn’t know him however we said hi and spoke to each other on the short ride and walk down the hall on the same floor. The next morning we sat across from him and his family during breakfast the next morning and I continued to act like I didn’t know him until we left and my phone rang playing a Hootie song and then I said have a safe and great trip Mr. Rucker. He smiled when the phone rang but even bigger when he realized I knew he was. Glad he just got to be himself and have a few normal friendly conversations.

@@rik4369 Thanks and likewise! It’s just their job. Yes it gains attention but they are no different than you and I. I have an uncle who’s country band made it big in the 90’s so I know first hand they love what they do and most musicians do it for that very reason. You have some of the more modern artists who do it for fame but either way they still enjoy their peace and free time just like anyone else. It was funny through, Mr Rucker was wearing and Country Music Television t-shirt the first day we met him. I’ve always loved the fact that he really enjoys all genres of music. He was a really nice guy. Always Faithful - I’m assuming you’re a Marine! My father was a Marine Vietnam Vet.

In his official video, (which is more interesting than this one), you would see The Duck Family was in Darius' dream at the beginning. Uncle Si was the driver in the antique pick-up truck and the family was in his bus when Darius 'woke up' from his sleep. Also, the bouncer was a member of the Duck Dynasty family. In case you didn't know, the Duck Dynasty 1) are the owners of the wooden duck calls for duck hunting and 2) had a TV show by the same name (funny too). BTW, this song at concerts or events, will rise up the crowd like a few other songs (like Red Solo Cup and Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue both by Toby Keith). Seems everybody knows the words to it too. ;) BTW, the couple drinking and dancing is the country singers Lady Antebellum kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZXTZXqCopymndE

My home town gets a shoutout in this song, though most people miss it because of the "nice long tolk" (puff puff) 😂 Also, I mean, almost all songs are about love of some sort, right? This one is just more cheeky about it! These lyrics started with BOB DYLAN - Old Crow Medicine Show carried them for a few years, and then Darius rolled it forward.
