So glad to see a real work out video that is easy to follow and effective! I was searching to find one to start with tomorrow. I use to run 5K's, worked out, did weights, all of it. Life situations have slowed me to a stop but it is better now and I look forward to starting a healthy life style again; I do genuinely miss it!

I decided to return to step aerobics after 25 years and looked at a lot of into/beginner videos to get back into the terms and the movements. This was the one that worked. It is really clear and easy to follow. It was still a good challenge for someone who hasn’t regularly exercised in so long - especially the last move. And Marischa is fun to follow and you don’t feel awkward. I did it for a couple of weeks before moving on to one of your 30 minute videos. I still do this if I have a time crunch. Oh - and don’t forget to squeeze your glutes!

130-240 calories
@mightymight3652 жыл бұрын
Depends on your size. A 7ft 320lb person will burn more than a 5ft 120lb for the exact same workout. Also depends on the intensity of the workout. A person working out hyped up and explosive will burn more calories than the same size person going lazily for the same exact workout. Don't worry about OUT calories, just get your workout done. Worry about IN calories though if you're counting. Hope that helps.

I gotta be 100% honest. It’s a testimony from years ago, that might encourage using a stair to exercise! I had spent hours at a gym. Jogged, power walked 7 miles a day (10 mph pace) and starved myself to death. Yes I was younger... mid 20s and have always been thin. BUT this time was different! I had just had my first child in late August. I gained over 100 pounds!! (My daughter was a 10 pound child at birth & I was 2 weeks overdue). So..I put on some serious weight. I had a wedding to be in December 30. So basically I had five months to lose 103 pounds. And I had to eat healthy because I was breast-feeding… Crunches were out of the question because my abdominal muscles were stretched out. So my aunt loaned me an old stairstep work out and her plastic manual stair. I could start w the stair all the way flat , pull a peg and adjust 3 levels of difficulty. To make matters funnier... it was a CHER workout! Lmbo! Old 90s Cher tunes and Cher wearing the most fantastic latex g string 1 piece body suit w fishnet tights leg warmers and white kix. My hubby had fun w that one. I felt nerdy as all hell, but gave it a shot. I was instantly ashamed . Cher was considerably more fit in her older age than my 20 something yr old butt. Cher put me in my place with in the first 20 min. It was an hr work out. I eeked thru my first hr and promptly threw up. Although I couldn’t walk the next day, I refused to quit. Especially if Cher could do it! lol No pain no gain. After my first week I couldn’t believe how my body was starting to adjust. I was easily able to get through the hour without having to throw up. Not only that, I was ready to raise the step up an inch. Week three & I had the step at its highest level… It was kinda fun, despite the music. I refused to weigh myself because muscle makes you gain weight and I could clearly tell I was putting on muscle, but getting smaller. And I was “somehow” toning my entire body without trying. I was new to exercising routines and didn’t realize how much muscle could actually be gained without using weights and without spending the money to use expensive machinery. I was just physically moving my own body. Using my own weight. I guess what I’m saying is this little plastic stair and a one hour video in the privacy of my own home made me lose more weight and tone my body WAY better than any membership to a gym or any piece of expensive workout equipment I purchased. It wasn’t just making it through the work out video that help me lose weight. Even after the wedding I continued to do it… All around it boosted my endurance and energy and confidence! I found myself doing the workout video for an hour then go jog 7 miles later on in the evening. And I could eat! I mean eat a lot.i ate far more than I ever had before in life. It seemed like I was ALWAYS hungry. I didn’t follow any particular diet. I have a degree in Biology,,, I’m NO DIETICIAN, but I’ve always felt like when the body is craving something AND you’re working out and you’re expending energy... THEN your body probably needs what you’re craving. I had NO GUILT eating what I was hungry for. BUT I RARELY craved crap food! I WANTED fruit, water, rice, VEGETABLES. I never liked red meat in the past, but suddenly wanted protein. So I grilled chicken breast s every marinade imaginable. Lol! The cool thing was ,,, the tighter my abs got, the more uncomfortable I got if I ate too much. So I ate more often, just smaller amounts. I swear hands down that stair workouts REALLY DO WORK! I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t been a broke 20 something yr old and had no other choice. I’m older today.... and have never had to lose 100 lbs since, but I still rely on it for a quick back in shape makeover! And it still works. I know people w fitness and dietary knowledge will say I’m wrong. I’m not. This is a personal experience that may vary for others. I still swear by it. I still eat w it. I still enjoy it. I’m also a biologist. The more you know the more difficult things become. If you dissect exercise and diet it takes the fun out of it. Exercise to have fun... eat because it made you hungry. Use common sense. Have fun.

@@FitnessType Thx for the reply. I'm gonna stick with this routine even though I'm heavy. I'm all stiff(uncoordinated)) and not bouncy like your movements. I have a hard time with the leg lift steps.
