Love your vids, Topher. So many reviewers and commenters knock the Civic Type R for still being FWD. I love the fact that Honda don’t just throw an AWD system in to say “oh it’s fast.” Anything with 3XX BHP in this size category will be fast. It’s been engineered to be fast through skill and product development, which really holds true to the Type R name. But more importantly, it’s probably one of the most driver-centric driving experiences you’ll get below buying a Porsche! Keep up the content man. Love from the UK ❤

Fun in the snow for me is predictability and confidence, not damaging the front or underbody of my expensive vehicle. I’ll give it some power in a turn to slide a bit for fun once in awhile. I’m good with that. With winter tires and no more than a 2-3 inches of snow on the road, I think my Si is great. LSD has to help too. Run a little bit lower tire pressure for some extra traction in icy conditions. Maybe 26-28 PSI, rather than 33F/32R.

Fellow michigan Type R person reporting in. Im on the best (west) side and drive mine 100% daily. I use continental dws06 plus and it does fine. It's not great but it's fine. Perfectly acceptable. We've had 6+ inches in the last few days and it's fine. Full on stock size 265/30R19. No problems. :) Maybe they arent as good as this in the winter but the DWS06 are doing me just fine and maybe they're better in the dry. Just take it easy in the winter, go out less, introspect more, and reverse when its nice lol

It's great to see tis car in action in the snow. I'm tempted trading in my 4Runner for the CTR. However, in this recent ice/snow storm in Atlanta, and the hilly terrain of this city, and seeing an FK8 CTR having issues traversing the hills here, it's given me a slight pause on the purchase, despite how much less often the winter weather. Cities where it's flat or right at sea level, I'd trade my 4Runner in for this, no questions asked

Hot hatches should come with UHP all seasons across the board. Off track, I don't see why you would want the absolute maximum dry summer grip at the expense of ride quality, tire life, noise, and all season performance. A little less grip is more fun on the street.

My elantra N is plenty of fun in the snow. With traction on it feels like its awd, the e-diff generates a crazy amount of grip. With traction off i dont even need the hand break. Its such an oversteer prone chassis with the giant 25mm stock rear sway bar. It feels like a rwd car with how easily it'll oversteer. With the handbreak you can slide and do really long drifts, not what you'd expect for a fwd car.

Have certain performance all season tires like these ones and the pilot sport a/s 4 made dedicated winter tires somewhat unnecessary? Especially for someone on a budget. Would it be a waste of money to keep having to replace 2 sets of tires when you could instead simply have one set of do it all tires? I mean, most of the performance summer tires now have become incredibly capable beyond what most folks would even need for daily driving anyway. And this new trend of using a mix of track tire compounds on some of these ultra-high performance tires is a bit silly and painfull to both your wallet and paint job as they have terrible longevity and literally throws rocks at your car, not to mention getting them up to temps for optimal grip is basically impossible on public roads rendering them almost useless to begin with And they literally! Tommy gun your cars exterior with every rock stone pebble gravel them tires touch to then turn into ammo, lol. I will never again. So long story short, I'm thinking I might just pick up a set of Bridgestone potenza sport a/s.

All seasons are driveable in snow but you need more attention to speed and grip levels. Also Michigan seems flat, it gets more fun in the mountains with twisty roads and uphills. I don't recommend them unless you only get a couple of snowy days per year or never plan to drive in snowy packed un plowed roads.

I think these are ugly, bulky looking, heavy with that said I think it has a great engine decent power could be better and great transmission and gear box but way over priced for what your getting im just not a fan of the over all design and price.. cars are outrageous these days. If this costed 33-36k id say it's a great deal but for whatever they cost 50k plus dealer mark ups is absolutely ridiculous and criminal..

Man, that car is way too overpriced. I would rather buy an m3. KZbinrs are buying them coz they are getting ton of discounts from manufacturers/local dealers due their presence at their launch event. They hold value really well. Front wheel drives are understeering kings and suks at launch. No to mention, gotta change those front tires often due to over work.

@ any track car is not about reliablility. You can drive a prius too if you are worried about it. Its a shame that youtubers are getting a ton on discounts on these cars and get to wash your brains for free and making it seem like dream car. Its same like the woke culture. just because a few people believe that its worth over 50k, it isnt. Front wheel drive launch suks and understeers like a pig. Do you think type R lasts over 100k miles?

no handbrake makes this miserable in the snow honestly. all i ever think about in a type r is how much i wish it wasnt front wheel drive. you MUST have a handbrake to get through snow safely in an FF and maintain any semblance of speed. how can you adjust your line while fighting all that understeer? still cant forgive honda for that absolute cardinal sin.

Be careful with those reverse doughnuts in a front wheel drive you will ruin your cv joints.
