I was so involved with the game that I ended up as a mod for SVB and even became an OW eSports coach for a local college. It was a bad time of my life for me and OW was a crutch that I leaned into. At the same time the community was awesome and I was a part of it. Now I can rarely play Overwatch for longer than an hour or two. I miss the days when the game felt dynamic and the community came together to game and not just to question dev updates.

I dont know your rank, but in metal ranks (high gold-low plat), he is still very feasible. I literally instalock him on every KOTH-like map, and I can still do shiet even agaisnt Orisas, Maugas and Rams. Is so fun to just menacingly walk towards the enemy and side-screen smash em to pieces. Thats the only moment I have legit fun as tank

My partner hated when they stopped focusing on the story (me too tbh but I still play) and he lost the connection to the game. It was so exciting to wait for the new cinematic releases and lore drops. Now it’s just MAYBE a cinematic release and new heroes/maps. I miss old OW bc I miss the friends I made and how it felt back in the day. I guess I’m just nostalgic for the old days lol. I met my partner on this game! I wouldn’t be the same person I am today without OW and it’s sad to see how much it’s changed from how it used to be, how the community used to be

I think this happens in 2 scenarios. 1. You left in the middle of a game and so its just compounding the rank difference from the game you left and the game you just won. Or you got demotion protection which just means you lost your rank but its not telling you and you won a game but it wasn't enough to get you positive

When I received no indication of change, my SR meter was above halfway between the divisions, no demotion protection and no leaving middle of the game.

There are 2 scenarios where this seems to occur. 1) after demotion protection, which keeps you at your rank at 0% even though you are actually at a negative % 2) The previous results screen was skipped and the one you are shown is actually a combination of multiple matches

My friends and I were in this boat for a while, but I think we've finally decided that we are done with overwatch. It was a good game but it no longer is. Once we accepted that and started playing other games we started having so much more fun. Overwatch to many people is a toxic relationship, once you finally kick it to the curb things will improve a lot. Only reason I'm still watching OW content is because I find many of the OW content creators themselves to be entertaining.

The problem with this whole "pressure" system is that you dont get anything out of it. If someone is outbeating the pressure system it's obvious they dont belong in their current rank, right? Ramp up their rank progress so they can get out of there.

At 9:38 to that point, I don’t really play anymore. I enjoy the content from like Flats, Emongg, Frogger, etc. but I just don’t have the heart. I do however watch the cinematics all the time and after I get so pumped to play (Rein’s gets me every time 🥲) and for a moment I think about the fun times I *used* to have and I think, “oh maybe I’ll have fun this time.” Spoiler: I make it like 3 games. I have even gotten to the point I’ve enjoyed Destiny again. That’s how much I’m disliking OW rn. Used to play religiously and now I just watch from the sidelines as everyone else gets depressed lmao. Anyway sad to see the state of the game and I miss the lore so much. Cinematics were peak, literally just make a show arcane style, the story is there and I’d watch the shit out of that.

I used to love playing overwatch and I used to really jam with it. Despite the higher rate of toxicity it had in OW1 it kept me coming back, winning felt rewarding I was actually ranking up and actively solo-queued on my own. I got a lot of help from the rank reset. For a long time I heard a rumor back in ow1 that if your first placement is bronze it's gg your mmr is cooked get a new account. That was true for me forever even into ow2 I was bronze 5. Rank reset hits and boom silver 2. That like 1200 sr or something that I got bumped up lol

I stopped playing at like season 3. Then tried it again to play the first prop hunt which was actually fun. But after that was onver i stopped playing and haven't tried it sense. I join overwatch at the end of its life so i didn't get a real chance to fall in love like og players. But overwatch 2 just took the fun out of it completely. Not only did i not have fun, i lost the tank role. I was an off tank player, which with one tank you kinda become main tank. But the role itself just wasn't interesting enough for me to want to play tank anymore, and with how badly tank roles are worked on i just had no reason to play.

Aiming in OW is super hard? Really? Go in practice range and test at what distances McCree's shots register a headshot without the crosshair even being on the target. His "bullets" are the size of a watermelon... Same goes for Hanzo, but that has always been this way.

this season I've learned that any meta flats talks about isn't real for casual quick play roll queue players, since reinhardt is supposted to be unplayable, but I find myself winning more with rein than any other tank this season, and loosing a lot agaisnt reins, plus loosing a lot playing hog, orisa, zarya, etc, for my experience rein and junkerqueen are the better picks this season, most fun and rewarding gameplay

Yeah I'm a mid diamond player in low plat but I haven't been bothered climbing since the reset I've just off roled with some mates when I have free time which isn't too often. I can understand for plat players or even gold players on the enemy team that I'd be completely unfair to play against me just because I haven't decided to climb yet. I've also had a couple games against masters players who are diamond now and haven't climbed and I've even 2 gms who deranked to masters before the reset then fell out of masters since they were still playing against they're elo. I felt burnout and fatigue early on and when ow lore got slashed, characters got ruined and have an entire role feel so redundant even if you have to do so much just pushed me to leave. I quit Overwatch 2 due to NUMEROUS broken promises, things we were promised were coming when they initally announced the game. (cough, pve, to name a big one). The game is literally being milked for every penny it is worth, yet the OW community continues to let themselves be strung along with "OMG WE ARE SO BACK" changes the dev team puts out to keep you hooked. Overwatch 2 isn't overwatch anymore. It's call of duty with cartoon graphics. There are games I've been enjoying more, that have developers that actually listen to their players, rather than doing whatever the fuck they want because they know they can and people will still gobble up their bullshit.

if you haven't yet, try smite, it leans away from the standard hero shooter, and is more of a MOBA (if you don't know what that is, think league of legends or dota 2) with a more flushed out role system than OW or paladins. It's also free so you won't waste any money if you don't like it.

My silver dps friend in OW is ascendant in val, and peaked at Immortal. The natural fast pace of Overwatch, dealing with tracers who can blink around you with ease, Genjis break dancing all over you, Lucios wall riding over, under, next, to you at any given time makes you have some horrible time tracking them, but if you're good at it you're gonna have some god tracking.

Every match maker in every game aims to have 50/50 match-ups. In other words, balanced games. That's what 50/50 means. If you consistently win despite that, you climb. Which means your games get more difficult. Because your rank is higher. Climbing means that you are good enough to beat the odds. When you win 10 games in a row, the match maker says "this player must belong in a higher rank. Their games are obviously way too easy for them". If you aren't able to perform in the following harder games, you've proved the matchmaker wrong. So you de-rank. If you manage to sustain your winrate at 50%, you belong in your new rank. The whole point of a match maker is to make your winrate 50%. Which mean you are in the correct rank, that is where you belong. It does not mean the system is rigged. 0 being the lowest skill performance and 10 being the highest level: Let's say you're gold, and everyone performs at a level of 2/10. Then you win 10 games in a row because you performed at a level of 4/10. Or you were lucky, or you were in the zone that day, or any other reason. The match maker then tries to give you games that are also a 4/10. If you aren't actually a 4/10 player in reality, you're gonna lose a lot of games. There is no secret conspiracy. Focus on yourself and improve at the game. Think of ranks as the level of difficulty. ANYTHING other than aiming for 50/50 is bad. Not the other way around.

In response to the idea that big name streamers catch on quicker than the masses, there's some truth to that. However, I think it's more so true that you guys have been playing the game for a LONG time, on top of the fact you play for like 8 hours a day compared to the average like 4 or some shit. There's also the fact that if you get burned out 3 months before everyone else as a big streamer you're then spreading that energy for the next 3 months, coincidence that everyone starts to feel that way when all the big streamers are dooming? I think not. I'm not saying there's no truth to the idea, but I think it's just easier for vets of the game to get caught up in all the possibilities of what could've been rather than focusing on something more relevant like what can happen.

It's crazy to me how flats thinks new armor is a nerf. Remember Bastion? That mf was PRO META for at least 3 seasons. The new ranked meta has been to just to pick tracer as a anti tank hero. Reper also traditionally was seen as a 'tank buster' and that stuff catched on, especially at lower ranks where tanks get brutalized. I get that Pharah and Cassidy do more damage now but that is a different problem that can be fixed with balance. The obnoxious shoutgun the tank playstyle is pretty much gone* and that is a huge W. *if you're lucky enough to have armor to begin with

yeah but realistically they just moved the tank buster role to other dps with the tank changes. heroes like pharah, junk, cree, sojourn, just completely delete tank's hp now. not to mention heroes like bastion and reaper still do a wild amount of damage, i saw something like a bastion in config deletes a winston in 2.5 seconds instead of 2 lmao

Na people don’t understand how good Steadfast tank passive is, as a Lucio Main I used to make main tank unplayable, every pin goes into a wall, or boop back when hes about to rush in low shield, forcing a reset, Winston just reverts back to his jump spot from old old boop, Rein Shatters into a wall, hog boop into the team from above his head, saving literally every hooked teammate, forcing tank swaps, now when I boop a tank it makes them slide 2 cm, it’s literally a throw for me to try it now, when before it was the biggest game winning play that doesn’t show up on stats, it was actually nuts

So I have 1400 hrs in Overwatch, and I'm high plat... EVERY player on my team acts like they're stuck on the tutorial still. They get 2k healing after 8.5 minutes or 10+ deaths... The only way to "fix" it is by running a four squad; so the random can't duo with anyone. I've played support and had perfect stats! I went dps and also perfect stats. And I go tank with perfect stats... But yeah, Blizzard shows some information after a game and calls it fixed. But nobody is talking about the MATCHMAKING!

I can play EACH ROLE and do better than them! I would hit diamond if I didn't have dps die before the fight starts, I would hit diamond if the tank knew basic positioning skills and counters, and I would be diamond if my supports could do more than 4k heals after 10 minutes. But no, you're right. I'm plat... how would I know? Not like I can just watch my team run to their death, doing damage instead of healing or a tank diving by themselves into their death. @@Smol_PC Stats do not translate to the amount of value you're getting or how much of an impact you have in your games. A 7/7 cassidy can be bringing twice the amount of value than a 12/5 widow. You think you are way better than everyone else because your stats are better. Which makes absolutely zero sense. If it's actually TRUE that you always have way better stats than your team, and you're still stuck, it literally means the value you get while having 3-5 deaths is THE SAME as your team mates that respawn 10+ times. Really think about that for a moment. Your 10+ death team mates are STILL bringing the same amount of value as you. In reality though, you're lying. Or you're just entirely forgetting when your team mates actually do well / carry you, and only remember when they play bad. One of those two. You do not always play better than your team and your team is not always worse than the enemy team. You're just a delusional plat player with an inflated ego and don't actually know how the game works at all. Focus on yourself, stop blaming everyone else, learn how the game works. And you'll climb. Or keep comforting yourself with the idea that it's not your fault. That's up to you.

@wicked5999​ Stats give a good look into how your team or enemies are performing... BUT when a dps goes 5 and 14 or 0 and 9 the whole game, and then you have me or my duo going 25~ and 4, you can see something isn't right y'know. Let's talk values then: My supports focus heals on our tank only OR they just dps OR they love the spawn room so much that they keep coming back OR they miss and have horrible heals. None of that is valuable, but maybe you'll say that they helped win a fight or kill some way, or maybe it's just one game? My contribution: But what did I do to help? Well first of all, I don't die more than I have to, I also know when a teamfight is lost so I'll regroup, I know when a fight is won and preserve ults, I make callouts throughout the entire match, and I get consistent kills and an average of 5 deaths, I know not to focus the tank and kill squish targets, I track abilities too. I've been stuck in plat long enough to know when somebody doesn't play on the same level, like even low plat or high gold players aren't even that bad in comparison to these randoms. Another issue I found: One game me and my duo won a game and decided to stay as team, BUT when we tried to start a queue it said it was wide match for all roles... then one player left and then became: "cannot queue because a player has too big a difference in rank" So why am I getting low rated players in my games that don't belong there? Like I said, Blizzard said they made the comp system better, but they never touched the matchmaking. To be honest it feels worse.

The point out of all this is that the matchmaking sucks and needs a rework like the comp system. I also have a discord server that I collect overwatch hero/game guides from top 500 players for my members to get better. What's your rank then?

So I don’t get this, if you add more knock back reduction to tanks, which should objectively be the ones that knocking back is most effective against, why not just remove knock back cc, Lucio boop and etc. already barely do anything against half the hero roster. Environmental kills save for Rein, Hog, Doom and, Orisa which nearly incontestable knock back/CC abilities because they all do the same thing; Stunning. More things that make knocking back and attempted environmental kills pointless are the continuously increasing amount of hero’s that can easily save themselves or would be victims of being CCed. At this point, just get rid of knock back CC for everyone but tanks because they’re the only ones that are consistent and effective.

Is it really so hard to stop playing a game if you hate it so much? I think the biggest problem with most ow content creators is they're just completely burnt out and instead of taking a break they whine 24/7 about every miniscule part of the game. Flats even has some great constructive feedback from time to time but it's heavily undermined by the constant and often incorrect complaining. Like, for example, because of these people brig was fucking gutted and almost completely lost her identity and they still act like she's this super busted terribly designed hero. Just take a step back man. Anyone would hate literally anything if they did it for hours upon hours everyday

@@spoopyboi1882 i am diamond so your point is not valid and when it comes to fighting against aimers, its all about playing into reins strength as there is no way to win if you play on the aimers Battlefield.Rein is good at holding corners and is deadly in close range.This game is all about taking point so the only thing that needs to be done is to take over point and stay close to a corner.If the enemy team wants to take it they need to get close and thats is were rein plays at his best.THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!!!
