Floor Jansen is one of the few people that make me see / feel the beauty of life. I'm 52 yo, and in my entire life I've meet only 3 other persons made me feel this way. 4 with Floor.

What I love about Floor is her ability to connect to the lyrics of a song and how she knows to translate this into her PERFORMANCE of it, instantly making it her own. She once said in an interview that if the lyrics of a song don't appeal to her, she won't sing it.

What I love most about Floor is her devotion to her art. She always gives her all, and has such a power and versatility in her voice. In Beste Zangers I've heard her sing everything from rock to ballad to country (About Love I Don't Know A Thing - another absolute tearjerker) and in her normal work I've heard her send all those 'pop divas' straight back home with her metal singing. From operatic to belting to death growls ... Been a fan of hers since 2000. BTW, she kept this version small and intimate, on purpose. In the last ep of the show, duets, she did a power version with Tim Akkerman. And a legendary version of Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort. Floor was sent to Earth by Odin to escort the fallen back to Valhalla, but decided that the easiest way to collect the souls of the fallen was to make everyone fall for her.

Love that Floor has become likely the most versatile singer, not only in the world now but probably of the last generation or more. It is not just about her range, control, her voice as an instrument, it is also the knowledge behind it, the good taste to know what to do or not do, and her creativity. This combination cannot be found anywhere else. Love that she found herself involved in what is now probably the best live band in the world after being basically non-functional for a year due to a major breakdown. She had quit music. Then Nightwish had some more of their infamous drama and suddenly needed a singer again; literally called her up at home while they were already on tour and asked her for help. The rest is history. Love that despite everything she is a genuine and sincere person and a real artist at a time when the word artist is thrown around too easily. She is not about the money and fame and while I don't know her personally, all evidence points to these things being true. It is hard to not love her and basically impossible to not respect her. ❤

Floor puts all her skill and personality into every song. The Beste Zangers performances are no exception, but they were like the gentle-spring-rain Floor. On the knob from 0 to 10, she's about a 5 in these songs. Put her back into her metal/rock Nightwish context, with her nose ring and black leather, let her move around the stage, give her the mic stand back as her prop, and she becomes Hurricane Floor. By the way, she isn't a partier-type, like you might expect from a rocker. She lives with her husband and daughter on a small farm, and they have some horses and dogs, etc. She really does seem like a very down to earth and wholesome individual.

She has perfect control, amazing technique, incredible range, powerful stage presence, a beautiful voice... but that's not that made me fall in love with her. There are other amazing singers out there. But no one else is able to make me cry like a baby with her voice. I can't explain why, it just happens. She just channels the emotion of the songs and hits you directly in your soul.

We have said sometimes like this: there are good singers, there is amazing singers, there is awesome singers, and then, there is Floor. We have said also this: there is good song makers, there is amazing song makers, there is awesome composers, and then, there is Tuomas. Cannot know do you like or not Nightwish music, but for me it is unique. Tuomas hears music inside his head and then write it down, so all their albums are born and will be born. Tuomas is also really unique person, maybe little introvert but musical genius. Many thanks for the reaction. Really like the way you articulate and share your feelings on this. Floor is a ridiculously good vocalist, and a supreme story-teller, among other things. It is that ability that most people find and adore in her, she is capable of not just singing a song but properly conveying the emotions and the ethos its lyrics and story encompass. She is not signing a song but living it, and thus the listener feels what she feels. There are many, many extremely capable singers and vocalists from around the world, but true storytellers are far more rare to find. Personally, I think she is one of the best in that aspect, and a truly inspiring artist and person. And a couple of suggestions. 1. I'm guessing that everyone has pretty much already told you to see Floor on her day job with Nightwish, and I'm also guessing that everyone has already suggested you watch "Ghost Love Score" (you will find out why when you see it ;) - another one that I think will suit your taste beautifully - judging by your reactions so far - would be Dead Boy's Poem. She is a cancer survivor that predominantly sings for her faith and to comfort/console people, not for fame or glory. She is also one of the best vocalists in Asia. A good starter would be something like Arirang Alone, a song talking about the re-unification of the Korean peninsula and the end of the civil war there. We all love her. Floor makes us all shed a few tears. She knows how to sing with emotion and if you watch her body language you will see her Musical Theater experience. It is almost as if she is acting the words out while she sings to all of us and at times Floor whispers to your soul. Wait until you her Floor and Henk Poort sing "The Phantom of the Opera". Epic! His name is Reuben Annink. Check out Floor singing his song "About Love I Don't Know a Thing". It is a song her wrote about his parents getting divorced when he was younger. Very Emotional for Reuben.

What do I like the most about Floor? That‘s a hard question, because I‘ve heard so much .. but one thing comes to my mind.
