Here's a recipe that a lot of you are not familiar with. It's a dessert usually made when babies are born. This is a recipe my grandmother always makes for my cousins and I. Here's what you'll need to make it:
2 cups of flour
1/4 lb of ghee
1 tbsp Chatak Halwa Massala
1/2 cup whole milk (stayfresh milk) + 1/4 cup water
1 tsp elychee or cardamom powder
1 siliment/bay leaf
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 can evaporated milk 1 tsp cinnamon
Like, Subscribe and Leave me comments- I want to hear from you!
Love,
R.

wow i think distance and time has made halwa evolve into something we Indians (India) cant recognize. in a good way. here Halwa is basically aata (flour) or sooji , ghee, sugar and water. No ginger or halwa powder. and i am from the part of India where your ancestors were from... well near. And we don't eat it with dosti(friendship) roti. but poori. But great job.

I guess people have lost some customs. But these spices are coming from India. We don’t know the names but in Guyana we got them. In NY, we get some but not the good whole spices.
