Don't EVER put duct tape on the painted surface of a car! If it doesn't pull paint off, the adhesive will still be a bitch to remove. Instead, use the original Scotch blue masking tap. They now sell other versions of it, including one that supposedly is even easier to remove, but it has less adhesion and the fact is that the original version, even after extended application, and even after being subjected to sun or rain (yes, water) will not only do the job intended but will almost always pull off without adhesive left on the surface. But it will virtually never pull paint off upon removal.

I thought you learned this lesson last year......plan ahead bring sorted cars that are sought after. Not auction flips from the last month. I'd have expected something wrong with that wrx too purchased from an auction. They don't have problems selling normally especially a 2018. I'm not too the results yet but the cars at mecum have to be older or special. Even foxbodies have to be super pristine low miles or a special edition to make money. Same with Mercedes.

I personally am at a loss as to why you chose to use the type of tape you did when there are several other varieties available at Walmart. Then the way it was removed pulling straight up rather than pulling forward after sitting in the sun for a bit later in the morning. it is not that uncommon for a painter to allow the base coat to cure a bit too much before applying the clear coat, severely reducing it's adhesion ability to burn into the base coat and become one with it. I thought that you appeared to have far more miles on you in that dept. to know better. Especially with little - no time to cure the more than possible results. But the results did create film content , whereas here on this platform ,can result in being more valuable than the loss itself.
