Just found your channel by accident and it's really refreshing to hear a young man with some good sense. I much closer to your dad's age than yours and it makes me feel good to know there is some good young men out there. Keep up the good work

Absolutely love the sentiment for your Dad’s retirement. You should also highlight all the times he was absent from your events. Living out of a suitcase for 30-50% of your career is a hardship. Your father had grit.

While your dad's career has come to an end, one good thing coming out of this is you just moved up one more spot in seniority! Congratulations to your dad and wishing all the best in his next chapter!
@teacher5555552 ай бұрын
well yes he did and no he didnt. his dad flew airbus 320s and 321s, garrett flies the boeing 737. they are kind of similar aircraft in terms of size but the flight controls are way different.

@@teacher555555What’s this gotta do with this comment ? 🤣
@teacher55555525 күн бұрын
@@mahamedahmed-yw6ui i highly suggest you read the entire comment. well if you listen to garrett explain it, you have to go thru training to be certified to fly the different types of aircraft before you can fly them. garrett can fly the 737 which is made by boeing and has the traditional yoke in the middle of the pilots legs when flying but the 320s and 321s that his dad flew until recently are made by airbus and have what some people and gamers call a joystick or HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) system where the plane controls are to the sides by the windows of the pilots. there is one less pilot flying since his dads retirement but that doesnt always mean that the ones below the retiring person get bumped up in seniority, they have to train if they want it. and now with garrett flying, making videos and owning his own company that makes drink powder, he is going to have to decide what he wants to do more because there is no way he can be able to do all three at the same time when his uncle tried it with just 2 a few years ago and shut down the business to return to flying full time.

Would like a sit down series with your dad and his experience firsthand as a pilot. He would be a great storyteller.

I’m 26 and just finished my first solo XC flight and am looking forward to hopefully one day being where you are and the eventually where your father is. I’ve been an “AVgeek” my whole life but didn’t pursue it as a career until a couple months ago. As a representative of the first generation of pilots in my family, I thank you for all of your content. Very inspiring!

Congratulations to your father . We used to go to Carolina beaches in the summer and connected on Piedmont in Atlanta . Remember flying both on the YS-11 and 737-200. That was a long time ago. The Rolls Royce dart turbo props were unique .

Thanks for the video Garrett and congrats to your Dad on a great career! Wishing him a happy retirement. When I was still flying as an FA, on one flight I was working the back on a 737 with my colleague setting up the service carts before boarding. The Captain on our flight popped into the galley and introduced himself. The turn we were doing was his last trip before retirement. He told us he had worked for Eastern Airlines before coming to our company. A real classy guy, I'll always remember that.

Congratulations on your dad’s retirement, as he is ready to embark on the next leg of his life journey. While, you had your dad as guidance when you needed it, where you are right now and where you will go are all results of your efforts and hard work too. Those exams did not pass themselves. Looking forward to more content.

My father was not an airline pilot but he was a veteran light aircraft pilot and examiner. He learned to fly in 1935 in the RAAF (Royal Auxiliary Air Force) and when WW1 broke out they made him a flying instructor. After the war he went back to his job but flying was always his passions and main interest. He was still examining up to the age of 81 and although I say it myself he was a legend and he was highly respected. He taught and examined many budding flying instructors who went on to have successful careers with the airlines. I too went on to be an airline pilot including training captain over 45 years of commercial flying. My father taught an attitude and I owe to much to his experience and guidance so I identify very strongly with Garrett's message here. Garrett my congratulations to your father's service with the airlines - he must be very proud of you as I am sure you are proud of him.

Nepotism... the pilot community in the west are mostly white male.. White pilots get hired easier because many training captains who are involved in hiring process are also white. I 100% dont discredit your hard work, but hard work needs to meet the right opportunity, it's just unfortunate that many non white male were not given such opportunity. And because of a family of piloting, you also get more insider knowledge and skill that others dont. Again, im not discrediting your hard work, just voicing out that you had more opportunities than others
