They want the next great American player that can fill the shoes of MJ/Kobe. Hence why Tatum got comparisons a couple of years back, Booker in 2021, and now Anthony Edwards. The media wants to see a flashy athletic American guard with killer mentality and a handsome smile win the championships and MVPs. They're convinced they can't market a less-athletic European center in a smaller market. It's killing some of them that Jokic is proving them wrong time after time and climbing the all-time ranks so quickly.

Shaq is a good example of player who had a chance to become all time great but choose to be lazy 'dominant' . Dominant in my book on center position is Wilt , Hakeem and Moses Malone. If you watch young Shaq and then Laker's Shaq you will see the difference he was basically just dunking and pushing players with his elbows/ offensive fouls to score in restricted area. When he meets a experience opposition like the Jazz and later the Spurs he was nowhere to be found. I love Shaq in TNT and glad that he is good example of guy who saved his money and now is billionaire but on basketball level he is not a thinker as Kareem , Wilt or Russel.... To be dominant means to impose your will on the opposition not just physically but mentally aka Kobe , MJ , Bird and etc...Shaq was not that he was physical specimen which with the time started to break down due to not taking care of his body. Kareem and Wilt both played longer then him /Wilt continue playing volleyball competitively till he was 44/ on high level and won in their respectful fields. Jokic if he continues to win titles and MVP's will pass Shaq on the ranking which is what Shaq is afraid of...In my book is enough to win one more title and finals MVP for the Joker to be above Shaq. My reasoning is simple check how many all stars Shaq was playing with /all times greats/ and check Jokic's team mates.

Man signs of how the stretch big was take over the Center position IN MY OPINION was that matchup in the 2004 NBA Finals between Okur and Shaq. There were signs of how a center whose got range can go toe to toe with an inside scoring monster like Shaq. So shout out to Okur for giving a glimpse of how a stretch Cnter can work in the NBA. Years later we now a a perfected specimen of this prototype in the form of Jokic. Not only can Jokic stretch the offense, he also can initiate the offense and make plays.

I personally would've had luka as my mvp due to the fact he was carrying his team the majority of the year to 50 wins while putting up a 34 point trip dub and while most of his team was either hurt or added later in the season. It's ironic to me that jokic won an mvp because he was carrying a depleted roster but it's held against luka lol. That 73 point game tells you all you need to know, for they needed every single point from luka to make the game competitive against the mid ass hawks With that being said the disrespect to jokic is crazy.

100% logical. Backs up all his sh#t. Total respect. I could go for SGA too even though Joker has the best stats. My sense is if you win it year after year you gotta keep upping your game to something special even for yourself. Otherwise we give it to next deserving guy who had a special year. I mean Lebron could have won it tons of times if we just go stats. So I’m down with kinda spreading it if Joker doesn’t go above his prior years.
