He planned to kill the boy from the beginning. After all, the cops would ask him if he could tell them anything about the kidnapper. The kid would have said "Oh, that was my uncle Hilty" What he wanted to do was collect ransom before disposing of him. But then he chickened out. This poor kid died for NOTHING and betrayed by a man he held enough affection for to call him uncle. Thank god for capital punishment in Texas!!!!!

Our oldest daughter’s writing instructor at SHSU was Tannie Shannon who wrote a book called “Seed of Villainy: The Hilton Crawford Story. Mr. Shannon interviewed Crawford multiple times while the later awaited his execution. Crawford was himself married and had two sons. But he was a con man whose schemes were catching up to him. He thought kidnapping the son of his friends would solve his financial problems. I don’t believe he intended to murder McKay. But in order to process the act, he invented a partner, who the police could never verify, who he claimed actually murdered McKay. He went to his death still claiming it was this mystery man who killed the boy. Crawford did not fight his death sentence and his family refused to visit him in prison. Two families destroyed because a man couldn’t accept being mediocre.

I looked this location up and it was a town of about 34,000 at the time, which was probably not full of crafty criminals, and this guy was in law enforcement in the 1960s and 1970s, a time when there were far fewer qualifications required. Had a similar experience with NSA. You probably don't recall the name. They were yet another pyramid scheme. The only customers, are the people recruited to sell the products. They sold water filters, and decanters. Nice presentation meetings though. I even went to two of them, they were so well put together. Met some interesting, if clueless, people at the meetings. Anyway, I didn't end up joining. I did buy one of their water filters and decanters. It worked well for about two years. So I guess it was worth it. Better to buy one of those things where you pour the water in, and it slowly seeps through the filter, into a water bottle. Cheaper and portable.

I've spent a lot of time learning about cults and how they suck people in. Partly for my own healing and partly in the hopes that I can help others get out. It starts with love bombing and eventually always relies on fear. Fear they won't be accepted, that they will lose community (or salvation) etc. It seems that a lot of the MLMs find people with a certain mindset. There's a lot of broken or hurting people in the world and they take advantage of them. There's very little you can do once someone is under mind control. It says a lot about your character that you tried though ❤️

Because, in many large cities, the people were protesting (some rioting) and demanding to defund or disband the police. Soon afterward, their demands were met by politicians, but it meant MANY less officers for highly populated cities. By setting a lower recruit standard, they now attract less experienced officers (w/less pay) to now desperately fill some of those hastily vacated positions. In turns out, many of the quality officers retired early or moved to smaller towns or more rural areas, where they’re needed, appreciated, and get paid accordingly. Consequently, crime has risen in most of the cities who defunded and laid off their police officers.

Reminds me of the Madeleine McCann case. Why leave young children alone for extended time periods?
@Rebecca-hc5ju
@Rebecca-hc5ju 7 ай бұрын
I agree. However, Madeleine was only three-years-old, and she and her family were on a family vacation in a foreign country. Smh I didn't realize until recently that her one-year-old twin siblings were also left alone with her. I stayed home alone when I was twelve and even babysat, but we had very close neighbors, and it wasn't never more than a couple of hours.

My parents were in Amway for a couple of years when I was a kid: it is not like a religious cult, it IS one, disguised as a pyramid scheme😂. Their meetings all include very lengthy church services and they make it clear to new recruits that Christianity is basically a non-negotiable prerequisite for joining.

I am a Christian and I was invited to an Amway meeting by my LDS babysitter, who raised Siberian Huskies in kennels on her property, too. The meeting was lengthy and boring. I recognized that it was a pyramid scheme immediately. So, I was not interested. There was no reference to my faith at all. I was a full-time university Medical Technology student at EWU and worked 1.5 jobs to support my kids as a single parent. At that time, I spent $450/mo. for childcare and $300/mo. for rent at $5.00/hr. Some things are just not worth the risk.

It's odd he would attempt to commit a crime in the same car he owned - thankfully, the neighbour was alert and got the details to connect him to the kidnapping.The parents leaving a little boy alone, without a guardian, is what made this man's "money making idea" seem more achievable.

This has got to be one of the dumbest ex-cops I've ever heard of. He just kept making the dumbest mistakes one after the other. First, using his own easy identifiable vehicle to commit the crime, driving up to the victims house in complete daylight. Second, involving multiple people in his crime that would be easy to tie back to himself. Such as using an ex-employee who already had a record, and was dumb enough to use her own phone to call the parents, demanding ransom. He revealed himself to the victim, meaning he would either have to kill him, even if he got the ransom money or be on the run for the rest of his life. I think the lesson is clear here.......Never get involved with Amway. It was just a bad idea all around.

This is so curious and so devastating that relationships end after going through horrific trauma. Not only spouses. When my little cousin ODed and he was my and my sister’s favorite (he was many years younger than us so he was the baby) when he passed away, my sister and I couldn’t hang out together. I literally couldn’t stand the sight of her and so did she when we were closer than best friends before. It took us years to reconnect. I wonder if there’s something psychological behind this and if you can make a video about it even if it isn’t your usual way
