When my sister and I were growing up, my mother taught us to peel bananas and dip them in wheat germ, and then bag and freeze them. When we wanted a sweet snack, we'd take one out and eat it, still frozen.

And pasta, and bread, and potatoes. Refrigerate for 24 hours before using them. Bread works better frozen and then toasted (Dr Mandel explained that in a video: this process kills all bad effects of carbs)

TIP: get a baking dish lined with parchment paper and put your cut bananas there to freeze first. That way you can just pour/grab them for your smoothie. Also, allowing them to freeze in a bag causes a mess....
