A timely video, Thank You! VERY new to figs and of course fig trees. We were unsure as when to fertilize them and what fertilizer to use. So now some solid information and doing it to it!

looks like the artic blast coming is going to burn my figs back to the ground. might have to take some cuttings before that happens just incase.

There are hundreds of varieties out there. I know growers that have way more varieties than I do, so I get cuttings and add to my collection.

Thanks for the informative video. I am in northern Ohio and have moved my figs into the garage for the winter. I have been watering them about once a month. It is going to be getting VERY cold here in the next week or so. Temps down to 5F. I wonder if they will be okay in the garage. My water bucket in there did freeze just once last year when it got down that low but other wise it stayed liquid. Do you think my fig trees will be okay in the garage? They are just 1 year old but in 25 Gal pots and really grew pretty big. Any help would be appreciated.

do you have any figs that will grow well in zone 5? would they need 5o be planted in a big mobile pot?

Yeah up there a pot is going to be your best bet.

Might not hurt, but a pot is a little different than in ground. Since it's contained, you can shoot the juice to it much easier when it breaks dormancy.

They'd all probably get burned back to the ground each year. I think a big pot is your best bet.

Travis will have Malta Black and I believe it does.

Yes, there are several. But as Matthew mentioned, Malta Black is an excellent one.

We have a variety called Salem Dark and one called Brooklyn White that supposedly grows in Pennsylvania.
