Maybe a grren powder. Blend and drink down for breakfast. Have some fruit for snack. A bit for desert at lunch. An afternoon fruit snack. More fruit at supper. Some at night. Useful in this case to remember these facts about fructose: 1. Our body is not satiated by it: glucose, protein, fat we eat and feel satiety from it with enough, but not fructose, 2. It lowers our metabolism when we eat it. 3. It also causes an energy deficit when we eat it, so we want more! 4. It doesn’t affect our blood glucose level, but because it is only processed in the liver and we can easily overload the liver (don’t drink it!) it can quickly generate a fatty liver and pancreas because that’s what the liver does, is immediately convert most of it into triglycerides that are typically stored there. This raises insulin resistance. 5. A metabolite of fructose is uric acid, which drives up blood pressure. So it contributes towards preparing for times of low food and water by causing us to eat as much as we can get: this makes sense for survival with winters or similar where we gorge on fruit right before it as it is all in season for a short time, but we have the problem now that we can and do have it through the whole year, when historically that didn’t happen until very recent human history. Combine that with the artificially added sucrose (half of which is fructose) and HFCS, etc. in so many foods, the bigger wonder is how people avoid overdosing on it with “normal” food, especially even the “natural, whole foods” which includes fruits throughout the year.

The weight gain was significantly higher for this berry diet, than even the high fat salmon diet earlier in their eating cycle. I lost 40kg eating fruit and carbs in a caloric deficit. Since going carnivore I have put 6kg back on. One of my favourite meals was eating a cup full of mixed berries, a banana or apple, with Greek yoghurt and some peanut butter mixed together. For breakfast I would eat two slices of toast with avocado and an egg. For work lunches I roasted a bunch of vegetables, sweet potato, beets, carrots, zucchini, with steamed broccoli and ate this with a tin of fish. When I had my blood work checked everything was going great, blood pressure was great. I’m wondering if the majority of my weight gain is due to salt, and the potassium from these fruits and vegetables actually improved my health more than an almost zero carb diet has.

So I was diagnosed with NAFL right.. so there I go changing and cutting out every ounce of sugar from my diet. I did all that, lost a shit load of weight (fantastic) but I was still achy in my liver area. The only sweet thing I left in my diet was.. APPLES!! Juicy red mother fucking apples!! Because I cut chocolate and every other delectably tasting sweet treat that got me into this position in the first place, out.. I thought, well apples it is. They became my comfort food because shit, nothing else was comforting, anyways I’m eating at least 3 apples maybe 4 a day, my weights still dropping but the ache in my liver isn’t easing up. So I research apples, and for the most part, everything I came across said apples help to break down the fat around liver, so naturally I’m like, ok cool I’m on the right track, I’ll stick with it. Then I happened across another video that had loads of people commenting about cutting out apples because of the fructose and how the fructose is metabolised directly in the liver bla bla bla.. so I thought, geez I better stop apples then?! I didnt want to because they were my only sweet fix. So I tried it, and after about a week or so, I noticed significant difference in my liver ache. So now I’m off them completely which has depressed me because I actually fucking love apples and it’s doing my head in, because mostly people are saying yeeeeah apples are fucking great for you, EAT THEM!! and then a small group are whispering, don’t eat apples.. Safe to say, this change I made, helped a lot! The only fruits I eat are blueberries and bananas. Trial and error and figuring shit out on your own is hard, but you really have to be vigilant in your pursuit of wellness. Doctors can only tell you so much and at the end of the day, sugar for the most part is an absolute fucking poison!! God bless yall
