I love the idea of Trinimac being banished to the ash realm and slowly building the perfect stronghold all alone as he contemplates what he is now. Eventually emerging as Malacath and having the code as how he sorted his life out, so he shares it with his people.

To me it also shows a issue of trauma, and how survivors can have a struggle with where someone will drag themselves out and how when trying to apply their lifestyle hoping to make a safe place for themselves and others it winds up hurting others perpetuating the cycle of abuse and damaging one’s life and goals in the process

One of the most interesting things about Orcs is this: In Skyrim, say you start out as a Breton and become a Vampire or Werewolf the other races still consider you a Breton with only some hints of otherness (afraid of sunlight, fur out of ears, etc) but still consider you a Breton. While if you start as an Orc the Orc Strongholds accept you BUT you become a Vampire or Werewolf then they consider you an Outlander just like any other race. That is very interesting how they are the only ones that change like that. Additionally my theory about Orc Origin is that there was an original mixed group of Goblins and Orcs such as what Topal saw, but then the Malacath incident happened and they intermingled with that original group forming the modern Orsimer.

One thing I've never heard mentioned about Malacath that I think proves his former identity as Trinimac beyond the shadow of a doubt is a glimpse of a hidden part of the Ashpit from the novel Lord of Souls. Circa 4E 40, Sul and Prince Attrebus Mede enter the Ashpit, and find a garden of slender trees, "vines festooned with lilylike flowers" wound about the trunks; a "multitude of spheres moved, deep in the colorless sky, as distant and pale as moons". Malacath describes this place as a "shadow of a garden", and an "echo of something that once was". That this place still exists in a corner of his realm seems so tragic to me.

It is important to note that it was said that a Daedra's realm of Oblivion is a direct representation of their own power as the realm is the Daedra itself. The state of the sphere itself is their condition. Thir best way to understand the Daedric Princes would be knowing what their weaknesses are. The most popularly quoted one in the videos is Jyggalag's pursuit of order when he would reconstitute himself from Sheogorath during the Grey March, never deviating from how he plans to remake his realm, eventually reverting back to Sheogorath every time. Peryite's weakness as the Taskmaster would simply be if his followers didn't pursue the objectives given, or if they cut corners to "accomplish" their chores. No one likes doing chores because people eventually realize that with all the time they spend doing his work, they could've been doing something that's more productive, ironically enough. So when his worshippers start doing other things that don't contribute, he suffers directly because, ultimately, he's actually at their mercy because he's without means to take tasks upon himself--a stark contrast to Boethiah and his followers, who act as his arms. All Daedric princes have supposedly infinite power, but somehow he has "less infinite power" than his brothers. However, it also seems that Peryite is cognizant of this. I could go on and list all the weaknesses of the rest of them, but that would take too long to write on mobile youtube. So it's easier just to explain what's actually wrong with Malacath. Malacath is practically a literal plagiarism of all the other Princes, except by his origin, he wasn't born from the spilled blood of Padomay. What makes this worse is that he's an amalgamation of all of their negative traits, with only a few of their neutral ones. He has the ability to inspire ambition a la Mehrunes Dagon, but he lacks the follow through. He wants to see his children succeed through methods he teaches them, but in the words of Gaiden Shinji, the best techniques are passed on by the survivors; because he knee caps the population by implementing governance of cultivating eternal power struggles down through generations, it could only really survive by word of mouth until someone decided to actually write things down. He gives them tasks to follow so they can insure success, but the chieftains he blesses with these tasks only live so long because of traditions also created by him. And if you go against him, he will throw you out in the same spiteful manner that could only serve to flatter/ annoy the hell out of Azura over him ripping off her style while being smelly. He's made his children very domineering, but definitely not in the way of actual competent military strength. The way you'd tell him apart from other Daedra if they were all represented as clouds with the same voice is that his is the most undisciplined of the bunch, no matter how loud he yells at them.

On the topic of mantling, it requires that the entity being mantled is *missing*. The HoK only mantles Sheogorath after he's already turned into Jyggalag. So, if Malacath is to be mantled he must first become Trinimac, or otherwise be removed from the Aurbis.

TBF Malacath is considered as one of the most powerful of the Princes by Sotha Sil because he was called to take part in the Coldharbour Compact. Mephala, Clavicus Vile, and Nocturnal presumably didn't agree to the compact because they were already planning to assume control of Crystal-Like-Law.

Last time, i gave you all a little more on the origin of the Asir. Today, we will discuss their relation to the scrib. Ants are everywhere, even on Nirn. But the ants that fled aldmeris were special. They made a pact with kynareth to grow to the size of mer/men in order to protect their colony or enforce kynareth's will. Of the 12 colonies that fled, one made their way to Vvardenfell. There, this group interbred with the local population. This interbreeding, is what allowed them undergo the unnatural changes. After peryite added his essence, it started to morph any ant related to the pureblood Asir. The Asir, had more of kynareths essence than local or wild colonies, as each god added their essence at about the same time. The ash plus peryites essence is what forced the change. This was part of peryites plan. Kynareth had not forseen the changes in the creatures she claimed as hers. And due to the corruption in wild populations, kynareth lost control over nearly all ants. And due to Kynareths essence in the Asir, peryite could not control the Asir. Antanea, quickly gained sentience and godhood, and was able to control the purebloods, and massacred any native species that dared cross their territory. For years peryite tried to manipulate the Asir, but eventually settled for the ability to directly control 1 drone at any time. This was due to kynareth. It took a lot of concentration to control just 1. However, peryite could see and hear anything ANY of the corrupt species could perceive. And although they were easier to control they didn't have any intelligence so even simple commands were diffucult to execute. So the next time you encounter the paralyzing scrib or a fire ant in the alikir desert, remember that the gods are watching. Next time, which may be the last, i will discuss the Asir current standings and their future. We have discussed their origin, their exodus, the building of their culture, their relation to other similar creatures. If you have any questions or input on the lore, let me know.

I feel like there's going to be a "Malacath, Trinamac, or both?" situation the player has a hand in when TES 6 drops. I also feel like there may be a wildly different idea or two about Orcish governance introduced then. For instance, Orsinium could be ruled by a counsel of some of the most powerful Orc chieftains of the area working together, or having a female ruler claiming to be a wife of Malacath who is preserving the pride of Orcish chieftains by simply not being defacto best chieftain, or something even as crazy as truly not having a recognized government at all, and the people within are free to worship literally whoever and do whatever as long as it doesn't piss off the strong individuals within the city. I like the Wife of Malacath idea and the idea of there being no recognized government the best. It would be in line with the eventual fall of Orsinuim. Either no proper woman can replace the Wife and so it falls, or it just becomes so lawless that either someone else takes it out due to the nastiness there or it becomes so bloated with criminal activity that proper orcs leave and it collapses under the fact that everyone left doesn't care about it at all. Also really like the idea of lawlessness meaning there's a good Nord population supporting Nord-Orc relations because they don't give a shit if you're worshiping Talos, there's bigger fish to fry if you want to have your own version of a stronghold inside the city walls. I mean, Talos and Malacath AND Trinamac have some intense parallels, it's not going to be something that is actively discouraged given everything else that might be happening as far as Orc-on-Orc issues are concerned, they can rationalize leaving the Nords who aren't in their business alone with what the similarities are.

We need Spriggan Lore. A full explanation of Fae in the current timeline would also help with this. The fairies seemed to have been retconned completely so any lore explanation to their disappearance would be a massive help. Also I reject the idea that Kynareth rules Spriggans. I say its Y'ffre who made Spriggans and its the wood elves that become Spriggans after they invoke the Wild Hunt...

@arifhossain9751
@arifhossain9751 4 жыл бұрын
@@the_corvid97 a few reasons. 1. Kynareth is a sky god, yffre is a nature god. makes more sense for yffre to turn people into half tree abominations than kynareth. 2. The Green Pact between yffre and he wood elves was created to protect nature, which the Spriggans tend to do innately. 3. Yffre and Hircine have always been diametrically opposed to each other ever since Yffre got betrayed by Hircine that one time. more info on the UESP lore pages. so it makes sense that if Hircine can have beastfolk, yffre would have plantfolk.

@the_corvid97 4 жыл бұрын
@@arifhossain9751 Thanks for replying, isn't Kynareth also a nature goddess in a sense? In her Nordic variation of Kyne there is a large emphasis on wildlife. Also, the Green Pact was set up because according to Bosmeri Tradition Yffre gave them the Pact to halt the constant transformations the Bosmer were having, hence why they detest lycanthropy. Then again, the transformations of the Wikd Hunt only has a description of being a constantly changing orgy of carnage so maybe it's both plant and beast.

9:30 I think there is more to the different orcish armor styles in each game than just real life human artistic interpretations. The Cyrodillic Orcs were influenced by the Imperials to make armor befitting the Legions, and perfect that The Morrowind Orcs were influenced by the Dark Elves to take their style in an extreme foreign direction. The Skyrim Orcs were influenced by the Nords to just make armor that works and forget about ornamentation. It kinda makes sense if you think about it that way

When I first played these games, after a long time, maybe a decade, away from playing games in general, it was during a period of stagnation in my life. As such, I read pretty much every book in the game I was playing (Oblivion), then found the UESP wiki and read all the books from the other games. The impression I always got from Elder Scrolls is that you're supposed to almost assume everything that wasn't witnessed by hundreds of living people is essentially a religio-political lie, as most of the civilized governments in the Elder Scrolls universe are faith-based oligarchies. What I took to probably have happened, since there's no real historical instance (pre-ESO) of Aedra directly interceding on behalf of anyone (playing a role in the game more similar to Earthly religion), was that followers of Trinimac attempted to halt or stop, or maybe even alter, the course of the Chimer exodus. Whether these Trinimac followers were part of the Exodus who thought they should embrace their new Deadric gods while still holding onto their Aedric beliefs (as these elves clearly were already ok with the worship of demi-Gods, like Trinimac), I'm not sure. I assume this is probably the case, as the Aldmer wouldn't have had a whole lot of reason to care about the Chimer exodus, and didn't intervene in any other similar Aldmeri exodus, even those that involved curiosity in regard to Deadra worship. So, the only reason belief in Trinimac would have been an issue to Boethia would have been a case that mirrors the Golden Calf story in the Old Testament. The dudes were on-board, but didn't want to just abandon their old beliefs. Boethia and Maphala attempted to show that they had greater power than Trinimac, even speaking to these followers in Trinimac's voice, but they weren't having it. So, Boethia turned the leader, probably a priest, into a primitive looking monster, to match his "primitive" Aldmeri ways. The elves who were in the "let's also worship Aedra" camp were unmoved by this display, siding with the priest. I think Boethia tried to up the ante by banishing the priest-monster to Oblivion, with the symbolism being that the plane was made of nothing but smoke pretending to have form, but the supporters of joint Aedra worship were unmoved. Annoyed, Boethia just turned them all into monsters, much like Azura did to the Dunmer. Rather than banish them all to Oblivion with their leader, he let them exist as living symbols of what happens when you "smear yourself in the dung of Aedra worship" and interfere in Deadric dealings, cursing their souls to that plane of Oblivion upon death. Over time, these cursed elves started to turn the original priest into a Hero-God, and ironically replaced their worship of the Aedra and Trinimac with worship of the monster-priest, Malacath. The Orc way of life evolved into what it is out of necessity and resentment, as Malacath, his mind corrupted by the nature of Oblivion, encouraged it and his own worship. I don't believe Malacath is actually Trinimac in an objective, literal way. I think he's an Aldmeri priest, or extremely devout priest-warrior of Trinimac who was eternally banished to Oblivion and then, as his mind was corrupted by guilt (over the change of his fellow Aldmer into Orcs) and the nature of Oblivion, made the best of it. Aedra, if they exist, always make their presence known through vessels, rather than in their own form. There's no real reason to think Trinimac ever made an actual appearance, other than through the faith of some follower (as is typically the case).

Malacath isn't the weakest Daedric Prince. Him being Trinimac is the proof of that. What we don't see is the manifestation of that power. Why? Because he doesn't have the same villainous motivations as true Daedra with him being Aedra. The tribes of Orsimer are in disarray. So first things first. He has to whip the Orcs into shape, unite all the spurned and ostracized (not just Orcs) and then erupt across Tamriel...with righteous purpose. I say righteous because Malacath stands in deep contrast to the other Daedric Princes, except maybe Azura and Nocturnal. So the Elder Scrolls has some work to do to bring us the true purpose and power of Malacath.

i think a really interesting part of the lore is that malacath calls ogres his little brothers and orcs are his people or children but goblins he doesn't acknowledge or perhaps sees them as vermin, all of this is to say that goblins are far removed from orc's and also are the orcs and ogres able to communicate, or breed, or do they ever work in unison

If Deadra are their realms then consumption and excretion could refer to Trinimac being forced into Boethia's realm and then expelled changed from how he went in. Perhaps Trinimac went through experiences capable of changing him forever similar to a veteran developing PTSD from traumatic experiences.

Still, the orcs are such powerful warriors that far exceed the physical prowess of most if not all tamrielic races. It's sad though. Orcs are so powerful that by the time they reach their teenage years they can already beat trained warriors with their brute strength and skill alone. Orcs have even proven to be just as capable as mages; Urag Gro Shub. Imagine if Orsinium United all orcs together and actually had a smart strong and competent leader. They are built for battle and they are amazing smiths as well. Just imagined the race at their full power and strength as the races of tamriel bend to the wills of scorned, the race that they disgraced and forsaken only to realize that they had vastly underestimated the periah folk.

I want a DLC in the next Elder Scrolls game where you travel to the realm of Malacath. My theory is that if a "champion" beats Malacath in combat ,in his own realm, then he becomes the next "Malacath".Like the orc tradition of the chieftain succession.And if the champion defeats the Daedric prince by using a "divine" artifact of Trinimac, then part of the "corruption" in the new "Malacath" is "cleansed" and this new god is the "true" outcast god.He is both a Divine and a Daedric prince and represents both the aspects of Malacath and Trinimac. Also the orcs are effected and get back parts of their old culture and appearance ,but they remain orcs.

These podcasts are amazing! Thank you so much! May I suggest a podcast on "alternative" forms/schools of magic? Like blood magic (such as we see in ESO siphoning skills, vampires and tsaesci), light magic (as used by the ayleids), sun magic, shadow magic, reach magic (sort of a corrupt form of druidic/nature magic, idk), shapeshifting, serpent magic (used by maormer) and such. Even some schools like soul magic and flesh magic which you already covered in other videos could be revisited, since a debate between you could shed some new light on it. I'd say there's a lot of ground to cover and it's worth a podcast. Thanks again

The Sworn Oath means to not spurn the already spurned. The Bloody Code demands justice for the truly wronged and punishment for misjudgment. Great podcast! I might be biased though, for I RP a dedicated Orsimer Green Warden. It's nice to hear some of my favorite TES lore with fresh, new perspectives y'all offer! And really just all your content makes for some nice youtubing. Thank you :) To get into it a bit, I believe Malacath and Trinimac are very much two sides to one coin. I praise Y'ffre, Hircine, Akatosh, Sheogorath, Azura and even Boethiah and Peryite. And I've always felt strangely about the Ash Pit, Malacath's realm of Oblivion. It seemed unjust that simply because I was born an orc I would be doomed to this... unpleasant plane. It troubled me for awhile, and even I wondered if being a werewolf would draw my soul into the March of Sacrifices instead. I pvp rp, and 'street rp'. That is, practice RP in somewhat inconvenient places. I play ESO and in my two years have fought extensively in the Three-Banners-War. I ponder the meaning behind things like honor and mercy, retribution and madness. The harmony of justice among chaos, with actual other players, has shed much light on this. There seems to be a very distinct and poetic karma that blossoms on the battlefield, in the living now. I believe this may be an orcs path to Aetherius. Zeni [gra-]Dek'ar says: "The Ashen Forge is only another test for a soul that has proven themselves worthy to be there. It's said that the Stronghold of Malacath spans into infinity, extending even behind the stars to Aetherius, granting access to every worthy Orc who crosses from this life into the next. This is reinforced by that fact that Malacath is a non-typical Daedric Prince thanks to his being an Aedra (as Trinimac) when forming the Mundus. So it operates more like the Nord's Sovngarde if you ask me. As an orc and green warden residing in the now, I spin a story of life and of war. And if I should ever find myself in the Ashen Forge I will try, and I will fail, but I will strive to be one who is not defeated. I will learn, and grow, and teach... I will pursuit what I see as justice and exercise restraint when I believe the situation is worthy of it. Y'ffre be praised, the scorned be honored, and the arrogant be punished." en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Ashpit

Personally, I prefer Skyrim's orc armor to Morrowind, since I'm not a fan of the more samurai theme that it was going for, and preferred the former's more study look. It also doesn't looked patched to me, just more harden and intimidating. They could have Trinimac return through the Thalmor learning about Sheogorath returning to Jyggalag and deciding to try to return Malacath to Trinimac by worshiping the latter and taking away power from the orcs at the same time, which could be fitting in a game where the character is suppose to be an orc or (more fitting) a high elf. I can see a TES game focused on the orcs either having them become popular and Malacath needs someone to put them in their place, or that they're in great danger of being wiped out and Malacath chooses a champion to stregthen his people to save them. And I hope that TES6 has a Monty Python reference with the numbered of failed Orsinium.

I think you’d guys love the Ogre Kingdoms of Warhammer fantasy. They mostly worship a giant Maw that fell from space. When it crashed on the planet it mutated the ogres to be forever hungry. They ride giant snow beast and are somewhat related to the Yetis on the nearby mountains; mutated Ogres that adapted to the high snow elevation. Some Ogres worship a living volcano, in which their priest slowly consume more and more fire over the years, even lava, granting strange flame powers.

"According to legend, Malacath was once Trinimac, the most powerful of the Aedra, the Altmeri ancestor spirits. During the Merethic Era, Boethiah began appearing in visions to the prophet Veloth, instructing him to create a new sect, who would eventually become the Chimer. This was blasphemous to the priests of Trinimac, who threatened to exile the dissidents. It is unclear exactly what transpired next. In one Orcish telling, Trinimac confronted Boethiah for creating the dissident movement and challenged her to a battle. During the fight, Trinimac was about to strike down Boethiah when Mephala appeared; the Webspinner stabbed Trinimac in the back. As Trinimac kneeled helpless, Boethiah invoked a ritual to scar and twist Trinimac's appearance, then banished the Aedra to a place of ash. In a rage, Trinimac cut open his chest and "[tore] the shame from his spirit", being reborn as Mauloch" Mephala being the princess of lies and boethiah being the princess of secret plots of murder. i am 100% sure this is the right account of what happened and those 2 lying whores were trying to defame the Pround Aedra in order to turn away his followers from him !!!
@barkasz6066
@barkasz6066 4 жыл бұрын
Trinimac was also lying. The good Daedra taught the Velothi that existence is a test, and that they must perservere and overcome the test to rejoin the heavens. They taught Veloth that Lorkhan loved mortals and constructed the Mundus for them, because he wanted the mortals to surpass the Daedra and Aedra, which is only possible if you are not born a god but become one through great effort. Trinimac was spewing lies about Lorkhan, how he tricked the Aedra and how the Mundus was a prison, when really, he, like all Aedra was just jealously trying to guard their power.

There are plenty of people who hated Trinimac. First, the races of men hate him, because he was the champion who lead the elven armies against men. He even killed Lorkhan. Second, the Chimer would dislike Trinimac, because Boethiah disliked the lies he was spreading about Lorkhan. Third, the High Elves would hate him for being corrupted from their ideal of raci@l purity. Maybe the Wood Elves and the Wood Orcs live well together, because they don't have the above issues.

I would say his domain of "revenge" deals heavily with his origin as Malacath after his defeat by Boethiah, who was _avenging_ Lorkhan against his and Auriel's betrayal and continual lies. Because he had betrayed and lied and was brought to justice, he now demands of his followers that they be true to their word and ensure justice. It seems Boethiah's lesson stuck, and he is genuinely penitent. I mean, even his realm is called "The Ash Pit," and ash is frequently tied to repentance in ancient human cultures the world over, especially in the ancient Near East. One who had perpetrated a grievous wrong, in order to repent, would often clothe themselves in sackcloth and put ash on their head and body as a sign of genuine grief for what they had done. So, I see Malacath more or less as still fully Trinimac, but he is now forever in grief over what he had done and is in perpetual repentance, and he teaches all who would learn from and follow him not to follow in the footstep of his former, prideful self but instead to be truthful and honorable.

My favorite Elder Scroll character type is orc/spellsword. Though they don't have any casting advantage, their natural martial prowess allows them to focus perks into casting skills without diminishing their malee capacity much. I do apply perks to single handed weaponry (sword specifically) and light armor (which I prefer as a mage); my melee is obviously bolstered by enchanting. Safe to say, an orcish spellsword (or swordmage as I like to think of it) is not one that stays in the strongholds to stagnate as a warrior. So my player character is a more dynamic, sophisticated, variety of osimer . . . a "city orc" as they'd say.
