How does this channel only have 1.87k subs, should be 187k. P.s. hybrid athletes are just crossfitters that haven’t had an injury in the last week.

@@TheInternetProductions he's one of a few isolated examples. Hence why I said generally - the majority of Crossfit athletes neglect endurance at that level - but ultimately that's because the sport doesn't require it in competition.
@ferguscrawley954 жыл бұрын
Appreciate that man! But I would argue against your second point, as CrossFit blends disciplines whereas hybrid training develops them concurrently as individual disciplines. But in their essence yes, crossfitters are a form of hybrid athletes, but I would say that hybrid athletes aren't a form of crossfitters - if that makes sense?

@@ftravis6840 I tend to agree here. James is a savage though. But you're right, it would be interesting to see how the athletes develop if the games/open threw in some long steady stuff! But right now it's not really there so it doesn't need to be focused on as much...

Just had this channel pop up recently and thought I’d give it a crack. Glad I did! I’m currently training for a sub 3 hr marathon and to join the 1000lb club for bench press, squat and deadlift plus I have an ultra marathon coming up. I’m a recent convert to hybrid athletics, and maybe a bit old for it at 37 lol, but I’m enjoying the challenge of consistent multi session training days!!! You’ve scored yourself another sub bloke. Watched a lot of your videos recently. I'm really inspired by the all around dedication that hybrid athletes like you have in excelling in every aspect of fitness. I only started working out a month ago and it's been exhausting both lifting weights and running. Definitely felt like giving up sometimes but watching these videos is really helpful. You also seem so down to earth and a general good dude. I hope your channel continues to grow, you deserve it.

i know this is an old video but just discovered your channel and really enjoying it. Interesting use of building fatigue session to session through the week to potentiate a bigger adaptation from less volume on a Saturday, never seen fatigue used like that before and I'd guess it's almost unique to ultra distance / endurance training. As an S+C coach I'm usually trying to keep fatigue to a minimum going into the weekend for a lot of athletes so cool to see it used in reverse.

Stumbled upon your channel this morning and been watching videos all day. I love the content! Can’t wait to see what you are training for. Since COVID restrictions started I’ve switched my training to be more cardio based with running and biking most days. Because I can’t go to the gym I’ve visibly lost a good amount of muscle mass. Do you have advice for someone who can’t get to the gym but still wants to build strength while continuing my cardio training? Thanks man, keep up the great work!

Thank you! I account for any weight sessions in my daily baseline intake, but in reality unless it's a Metcon style workout, you really don't burn many calories whilst weight training! So I only account for cardio when eating cals back.

How would you incorporate speed and agility for a rugby player into a hybrid routine? I’m assuming keep the weekly schedule similar as far as high intensity low volume at the beginning. And low intensity high volume at the end. I’ve just been incorporating the speed work before lower sessions.

I know what to and what not to do regarding my shoulder, but I mostly feel completely destroyed after crossfit-like workouts (as a part of cardio) but after a weight trainings sessions I have too much power left. Do you think there’s a point where the estimated calories is inaccurate? 7.5 k was a bit over 1000cals, while 22+k was only about double the cals, while the distance tripled.
@ferguscrawley954 жыл бұрын
That's down to intensity man - the data is based of HR, and the 22k was a much lower intensity and HR than the 7.5k! I only eat back 0.85-0.95 of the cals given to account for any inaccuracy/margin of error as it isn't a perfect formula!
@justuspinckney22344 жыл бұрын
Fergus Crawley that makes sense. Does it take into account the elevation gained or just heart rate?
@ferguscrawley954 жыл бұрын
Justus Pinckney the elevation will be reflected in the HR due to the increased intensity! Garmin (in this case) will take my age, height, weight, gender, and then the exercise type and intensity (reflected by HR data) to output its figure. It’s a reasonably accurate measure, but there doesn’t yet exist a perfect one so we just have to work within the parameters we have! Hope that helps 🤙🏼
@justuspinckney22344 жыл бұрын
Fergus Crawley it definitely does. Sounds like as accurate a measurement as possible👍🏻

Would you recommend being a Hybrid Athlete as a natural? I mean, can you really get bigger if you run cycle (quite a lot of miles), on top of weight training, if you are natural? If you already struggle to gain mass, would you recommend switching to Hybrid?
@SamuelDown854 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, great content. Quick question, when you eat 85% of calories burned doing conditioning/endurance work, above your BMR, was your BMR measured accounting for those endurance activities you would be doing or not? Does that make sense? Cheers.
@hayzlorro4 жыл бұрын
I’ve got the same question. A lot of the online calculators ask for activity levels when calculating calories - do you use one of them or one that purely calculates your BMR?

Haha! I'm afraid I don't really buy into 'splits' for this sort of training as there are so many variables to manage and so much is goal specific - my recommendation would be invest in a coach, or look into how to build a concurrent training split for yourself based off YOUR goals (Complete Human Performance has a lot of good resources on this).
