I made quilts for 7 grand nieces and nephews for Christmas. The fronts were pieced and the backs were interesting panels with simple borders. This made them reversible and one side was like a playmat. I have plenty of panels and some quilts used pillow panels in block form on the front. The large panels are pieces of fabric-usually 36×42. Just add large pieces to make it quilt size. Racetrack and village panels have been in my stash for a while.

Thank you Maureen. I have Tucker Trimmers. Thanks for showing this use for them . Also my church keeps giving me panels to make kids quilts. I like the book panels for quilts lots better than making the book. Sometimes we buy a book to go with the quilt.

Another great video, I have the Deb Tucker ruler, even if I didn’t I can’t see paying that for a ruler that you don’t use that often. April is also funny with her bloopers.

I love the Tucker Trimmer. I never thought about it for fussy cutting; I don't fussy cut very much, but it's a great idea! The Glow Ruler is an ingenious idea, but $57 for a ruler - no thanks. Rulers that don't do anything extra are pricey enough and to be honest I have too many, but I'd rather spend my money on fabric!

A “little pricey”? That’s crazy!

I did that with my daughter's wedding quilt with the very same Tucker Trimmer. I'm also using it to see how smaller little prints will end up on a half square triangle, accounting for seam lines before fussy cutting it. I also don't usually fussy cut because of wastage, but sometimes it is fun to do. I love how that floral panel turned out too. Cheers Maureen. xx

Oh, the Hoffman panel quilt immediately caught my attention. I'm off to browse checkers dist. And where can I get a Tucker Trimmer? Nothing beats Mondays with Maureen!

I honestly believe that new quilters are being duped into thinking they need a special ruler for every quilt they make. I think we had a lot more fun figuring out how to do things. The Tucker trimmer is great and proves you can make do with what you have if you just know how to use it.

Just another small tip for those - like me - are on a tight budget: Often the fabric companies have free patterns. There are several that also promote their individuel panels, e.g. Robert Kaufman ... Take care - Europe :tulip:

Thank you. I'm a sucker for rulers, but $57.99 for a 6" ruler is one I'll pass on. Deb Tucker's is just fine.

Fussy cutting special ruler? I cut a window in poster board and mark my images, then remove the board and use a ruler and rotary cutter.
