Saw the movie yesterday, it’s really good, not as good as Fury Road but still a worthy addition to the franchise and better than most other modern movies. George Miller has delivered another all timer.

It was ok. I mean visually it was amazing. But it’s just fury road all over again. We don’t get anything new really. And we have even less compelling characters (other than Chris’s character and even he wasn’t that interesting). It’s a thin movie at best. (I enjoyed it but I wouldn’t give it higher than a C+ maybe a B- for the visuals. I would tell most people to just watch Fury Road. And if I had my choice between the two films (to see again in the theater) I would chose Fury Road

Saw it tonight in IMAX…it was fantastic. You can’t compare it to “Fury Road”. It’s a totally different film but has the DNA of “Mad Max”. It reminded me of how “Rogue One” and “Andor” were its own thing….but it lives in the Star Wars Universe. Can’t wait to see it again!

I think it being a prequel, and not being about Mad Max, are both things holding this back. I'm gonna see it because I thought Fury Road was good, but I definitely would have preferred an actual Mad Max sequel (with or without Charlize Theron)

91% on Rotten Tomatoes. My crew have not seen it yet cuz we couldn't get a good seat for several days in the packed out IMAX screenings. The seat maps show smaller screens are half empty. The AVX and IMAX screens are packed, but there's not enough of them. I only see a couple IMAX a year. Def not wasting my money on a smaller screen for this one. If they keep it on IMAX it'll have a good run.

Can't help but feel like they could've built on the success of Fury Road with an actual sequel with Tom Hardy. A spin-off with a new cast coming out 10 years later feels like a missed opportunity.

@@tomgu2285they are doing a sequel. It’s called the wasteland. When it will come out is another question entirely. It took 30 years for fury road to be made. This prequel film was conceived when fury road was being written and it took 9 years for miller to get to it.

I doubt George Miller wants to work with Hardy again. I think that tolerance for 'divas and assholes on set' has become mostly a thing of the past, especially now that corporations are running studios.

To me, it was the marketing when I watched the trailers for this movie. They look complete trash and absolutely ridiculous and I speak as a nerd who likes this kind of stuff, but the trailer just look stupid to me.

Deadline just said tracking around 30 million. In depth reasons why. It never has been multi quadrant. One insider said stop making the films or make them cheaper. Just watched a spoiler review. Definitely not my cup of tea. I really enjoyed the Mel Gibson films. Modern day fan boys want nasty violence. Many seem to be gamers. Considering what is happening in the world is that the escapism people want?

More emotional than Fury Road. Furiosa movie looked slightly cheaper but still effective. The acting was great and I would say I felt stuff watching this movie. If my theater was a look into Furiosa box office numbers…. Not looking good. It was me and 5 others.

Fury Road was amazing. But it was a bait and switch film. It wasn’t really a “Mad Max” film. It was a “Furiousa” film wrapped up and sold to the audience as a mad max film. Furiousa was ok. I mean it’s decent. But it’s just the same film as Fury Road. It’s long, it doesn’t really deliver a larger plot or world building. I kind of feel like I’d rather just watch Fury Road again (in the theater) it was better in every way. And I liked Furiousa as a character. But I didn’t feel any connection with her in this film. As a mad max type film I felt like this was the worst of the movies. I’m saying that as a world building film. We get glimpses of the fury road world, but not much else. And we don’t really learn anything new about them or how the Citadel was built or the chrome boys or anything. We mostly spend time with Chris Hemsworth, and Furiousa as a kid. Filming was epic but it was thin for everything else. A shame because I like the world of mad max and feel like it could have been something more. (All you have to do is look to zombie films /series and see how they tackle the idea of an apocalypse and see how they tell compelling stories).
