@HollyOak4 жыл бұрын
There are a couple of ways you can break that habit. You can see something you want and then give yourself a week before you buy it. Helps to work out if it was just an impulse or not. You can then see what you have at home that might do that task instead (if it's a functional item). If you want to really get down to understanding your habit, you can keep a log of everything you've bought, what reason (excuse) you gave yourself for buying it, what mood you were in, where you were, etc. When it comes to food, even look at how hungry you were when you went shopping. This takes a lot longer, but it helps to bring awareness to what is motivating you to buy stuff you don't need, so you can be better at interrupting the desire before you buy something. I've even at times put something I want in a shopping cart in a store and walked around with it for a while, then usually find I don't actually want it.

I've noticed the same thing - I think better in a clearer space. Minimalism has a huge positive impact on the environment in the long run +makes every day easier. I've come to using natural stuff as much as possible such as shampoos (powdered herbs),body creams (make them myself), dish washer or clothes washer (baking soda), etc. I even use baking soda for baths and as a deodorant as it really works. All of these choices bring me joy. Speaking of clothes, personally I've come to a capsule wardrobe last year when realized how tired I am of having things that don't belong to each other. Besides, when I was on a journey I realized crystal clear what I really need, and what I don't. I'm still in a process of learning how to create my capsule effectively, but this structure is what I was lacking before. Long story short: I'm glad to see a mindful approach on your channel. I love when people use their brains and follow their intuition. 👁👁👁🙏🌌👍 I'm glad KZbin recommended me your channel because not only it's pleasant to look at you, but to hear what you say as well. This is what I like. Stay inspired 🤟 I wish you a life full of quality, not quantity.

My teacher st school (like 30 years ago) said once, the state of your desktop reflects your state of mind. I looked down shocked at my messy desk. I sorted everything and from this day in my childhood I strive to live in an environment with less and where everything has a purpose, no random stuff laying around. It works, exept for papers. Thats still hard to stay in top of all the papers. The next lesson was, when I was a Student. Not having money let me question every time, does this add value to my life? If not, Im not buying it, even with food items. I still practise it, although Im well off.

Being a video game, comic and many other things, I find it very hard to just let go. Some of the things I have collected I haven't seen in many years, but they brought me joy at the time. Would you say that "temporary" happiness is a good thing? I'm considering selling off some things, because that with everything that I own, I rent a 10x10 storage unit to keep it all in. It's not necessarily "junk" though. Would you think that something like this could cause me stress, and hold me back, to obtain something else that could help me in this minimalist journey?

Is it necessary to have a fancy coffee machine and a lot of floor area in the house to be a minimalist?
@silkegehtyoutubegarnichtsa8924 жыл бұрын
IS that a fancy coffee machine?? I don't even know n/k. :o But that's the anti-minimalist disease, "You are not a minimalist, because you have x and/or y!" I'm not from the school proclaiming, "minimalism" and "roughen it", have to sleep under the same sheet, they can or might though, but basically they do not come from identical mindsets. You are allowed to be an individium, and just ("simply") feel comfortable, even as a minimalist.. "I would feel better with less space" though, that thought might occur to many eventually, and that's the high noon point of to-be-or-not-to-be - you will either rebuy things, or move to another place, with the freedom to choose quality, and/or location, instead of just some affordable large space!
