Of all the characters that don't get a POV, I would have liked to get the POV of Viserys (No, I don't really want Littlefinger or Varys' plots revealed). I see him in a completely different light than most people. From the beginning of the book, nobody treats him respectfully or kindly, aside from Daenerys, and if it counts, probably his mother and Willem Darry. He is quick to anger, arrogant, and cruel; though nowhere near as horrible as Khal Drogo. He makes a deal, in good faith, with people that have no intention of honoring the deal, and who do not even attempt to accommodate him. Jorah, the handmaids, Drogo, and the blood riders treat him with disdain. I don't think he was a great guy, but if we look at all characters as shades of grey, like we are so often told to do, you have to feel for Viserys. Even after his drunken outburst before he is murdered, he calms down when they tell him they will honor the deal they made.

of the characters that are still around, we really want a Blackfish POV...I feel like that guy was right in the middle of everything that went down during Robert's Rebellion...Viserys would have been interesting...if I could have been in any characters head throughout the earlier books I would have loved a glimpse into Tywin's head

The Blackfish would be great, assuming he has more to do in the future. Edmure might be interesting as well, is he really as inept as Cat's POV implies, or is everyone just inferior to Robb in those chapters? We only see the Riverlands and the Vale from the POV of outsiders. I would lump Tywin with Littlefinger and Varys/Illyrio. There are a few characters that I would love to know what they know, but it probably ruins a lot of the suspense. It also makes them seem more intelligent, much like a magic trick is a lot less impressive when you know how it works. I think Tywin, Littlefinger, Varys and Illyrio, Doran, Roose and Ramsay, Stannis, Euron, Mance Rayder, and possibly even Manderley would give away too much in their inner dialogue... which is, incidentally part of the reason I don't like the most common Jon Snow parentage hypothesis, as we have a ton of Eddard Stark introspection.

Right? Wouldn't it have been easier for Viserys to escape pursuit, for years, without dragging his (pre-teen) little sister along with him? Yet he didn't abandon her. However, over the course of maybe a couple of months, she allows him to be ridiculed, alienated, and then abandons him. The guy was an arrogant jerk, and would most likely have been a horrible king, I just think he got a raw deal, and very well could have been set up by Illyrio and Varys to fail.

Sophia Wilson that's what I'm thinking. maybe she was really trying to help bring drogo back but the eggs in the tent interfered with the success of the ritual and mirri mazz played it off because drogo survived.

I've wondered about the "ruby" shard worn by the red priests. Why did we so quickly conclude it's a common ruby? I have an idea that it's not a ruby at all, but a piece of a giant red comet that fell to earth and is the source of the dragon magic in the shadow lands beyond Asshai. Exploring this further, Could the red comet be the souce material for another legendary sword of Valaryia? Such as the original "Lady forlorn" (used by the 1st men against the andal invaders ) or "blackfyre" the sword of Targaryen kingship. Lady forlorn would be an especially well suited name if this sword can kill Danyerys .She constantly states, "fire cannot kill a dragon". The red comet is the opposite of the blazing white star that fell at Starfall and a portion was forged into "Dawn". Maybe the red god Rhilor is a huge red glowing meteorite enshrined in Asshai! Here's the last and most mind blowing part of this line of inquiry. If "Dawn " and blackish green obsidian can be used to kill whitewalkers, Can the red shards of the comet be used to kill Danyerys and the dragons? Is the red comet Danys Kryptonite? Maester Marwyn might have that knowledge and the book that( faceless man) "pate" seeks "the death of dragons" holds the secret. Thanks for your work QOT.🌹 🌹 🌹

This is getting even better. I hope you guys also address the significance of Mirri Maz Duur having some training in healing by Archmaester Marwyn, one of the only Maesters who possess a link for studies in the higher mysteries. His immediate attention to Dany in Dance leads me to believe that the mages\’s encounter with Dany was not by chance. After all Mirri Maz Duur was necessary encounter to wake the dragon.

I'm very interested with where this is going. Can't wait for your next video. On a side note, I've watched hundreds of theory videos and read more posts than I care to admit about GoT. Your theories are original and make sense. I particularly liked the theories around the King's Guard from the TOJ. IMO Some of the connections in the text you're using to link them to Mance and Qhorin and Tormund are a tad shaky, but when you look at their motivations and how they've basically given Jon a pass and protected him at every turn it all starts to come together. I've read the books three times and would never have made that connection. I'm warming up to the idea that the Children of the Forest are the true enemies too. Question...... Sorry I'm putting this here and not on your Winged Wolf video. I like the theory about the winged snake being released from under Winterfell. The observations about the amount of damage that was done makes sense. But what are your thoughts on where that creature is now? Where did it go after it destroyed Winterfell? There's plenty going on in the North, why hasn't anyone seen it? I'm on my fourth read through right now and half way through ACOK. After one of your videos I started noticing mentions of the black stone built into some of the castles. Very interesting. Did you guys mention in your video, or notice, that when Dany arrived at Qarth that the third and innermost ring wall was made of black stone? I'm wondering if it's the same thing. Anyway.... at this point I can't wait for the next book just to find out which of your theories are true. I think it would be pretty incredible if you took the hundreds of, what I would consider, major characters in the story and we started to find out over time that some of them are one in the same. I know this massive world GRRM has built has to start to get smaller, and it's all got to be connected somehow. He must have a huge wall in his house with names and pins and strings connecting them all. Man I'd love to see that. Keep up the great work. Theories are well thought out and thorough. You guys really catch little subtleties and nuances that I would have glossed over in the past. It's pretty amazing, really. I can't imagine how much time you guys spend researching your theories. Thank you so much....we presented all three of them together for that very reason...any one of them taken by themselves with what little information we have isn't convincing, but when all three of them are presented together it makes sense (or at least we think it does)...we were talking about where the winged snake went after it got out, and the fact that no one saw it again really leaves too many possible answers with nothing to really go on...I missed Qarth having a black stone ring fort but I would guess that all these really old places have them for the same reason...we are dying to get our hands on TWOW...i'm pretty sure he does, and thats why his wife made him buy the house down the street to do his writing in

I know Loras says later he buried it in a secret place, and I can't think of what he could have done with it otherwise. Is this one of those rare times what GRRM can be taken at face value?

Awesome, Awesome, AWESOME! Love this video!! But then again, when don't I love your videos?💕. Upon my recent reread of the series, something struck me as odd about Drogo's death. I feel like it was 100% preventable, and what killed him wasn't something off about the poultice. It was her ability to use Drogo's pride against himself that killed him. Mirri gave Drogo the specific instructions; she orders him to keep the bandage in place for 10 days and 10 nights, and tells him not to drink wine or milk of the poppy, to keep his body strong. Drogo, being the pride-filled Khal that he is, cannot let a woman considered so low in station give him orders in front of his blood riders, so he immediately says he will drink what he wants since he is Khal. By ordering him not to do something, Mirri virtually guaranteed that he would do it. Similar to the trick Cersei employed with Robert, ordering him in front of everyone not to partake in the mêlée, thus ensuring his participation. And sure enough, Drogo ripped off the poultice before he was supposed to, and had been heavily drinking milk of the poppy for 3 days straight. Her manipulation worked, and led to the events which culminated in his death. Which is too bad, because Drogo was one bad ass dude. And a handsome one😆.

great stuff as always .the intro music volume nearly blew me off the couch.:) I don't see Mirri Maz Duur as harmful . she gave specific instructions that were never followed witch lead to bad shit . then knowing her life was forfeit she said what she thought would get here a quick death I do think she was there to win Danny's trust and to hatch her eggs. she was way to experienced to be a small village healer but with Drogons death her plan had to change do to the fact she no longer had time

I think it's possible that Mirri's intention was not so sinister. In her defense, Drogo fails to follow her medical advice about properly dressing the wound. In addition, as you mentioned, she warns that no one must enter the tent as she works. Sure enough, this is ignored as both Jorah and Dany enter as she works on Drogo. Perhaps if her instructions had been heeded, the outcome would have been different.

in terms of Drogo, the app says that she wanted revenge and her actions were to get revenge, and also says that he should have listened to her advice, so that seems to indicate that she treated him in that overly complicated manner in which he (a Khal) would have to follow her (a Lamb woman) instructions, which was incredibly unlikely to happen...a maester would have cleaned and bound the wound and moved on and he would have been fine...Jorah said the wounds he suffered were of little consequence...in terms of Dany's baby, she even admits that Rhaego's live was the price for Drogo's live so that seems pretty cut and dry and it also indicates that it was her magic that induced Dany's early labor, and Targaryen babies born prematurely all seem to come out looking like freaky dragonish looking things and die, so that part seems true and had little to do with Jorah carrying her in there as it already began before he did

Great video as usual but there is one thing I disagree with...kinda. When Mirri MD (great initials right? Malpractice suit anyone?) bandages Drogo she gives him a strict set of orders to follow most likely knowing he wouldn't but she did give him the opportunity to get better. It was Drogo's arrogance towards the Lamb men and lack of respect for MD when she cautioned to follow the orders that killed him not Dougie Mirri MD's bandage.

Your vids are always insightful and original... Many of the others give their little twists on the same narratives, over, and over. I may give ya'll a hard time from time to time but when you're coming outta left field so often that's bound to happen. I may not have a ASOIAF KZbin channel but I am well versed in the show GOT and the ASOIAF books... not to mention my 50 DRagnLance novels I own, A few Terry Brooks books, have read almost ever RA SAlvatore book and the Wheel of Time books up til the time the author passed and whoever took over ruined them.

Do we have any confirmation by the author that Mirri Maz Duur intented to kill Drogo? Because, I remember very well, Drogo basically refused to follow her advice. I've never really understood why people are so adamant about her will to kill Drogo when it is so blatant that he did the opposite of what was supposed to help him recover. In other words, I don't think we ascertain it.

I know you believe the winged snake escaped winterfell. Do you also believe that similar creatures are trapped below Dragonstone and Storm's end? Davos noted in ASOS that the deeper you went into dragon stone the warmer the stone walls became. it reminded me of the way winterfell stayed warm. melisandre is convinced that she can wake a stone Dragon. perhaps the stone Dragon trapped in Dragon stone. Maybe the "Dragon must have 3 heads" prophecy speaks to three ancient immortal powers that were defeated thousands of years ago and trapped beneath those castles. I'd like more info about storm's end to verify my theory though. do you think this has legs or perhaps wings?

Stone dragon seriously sounds like a volcano of some kind, but hey, maybe a volcano (or some other release of magma) is how a dragon is formed. That would switch up the causation I'd assumed for why there were dragons around the 14 flames.

Nathan Ware​ a volcano makes a lot of sense too. I just can't set aside the idea that if the three eyed crow tricked Bran and Jojen, then maybe the same power is tricking Melisandre through her flames. I think the prophecy and visions are tools to trick humans into killing themselves or releasing the old powers. I think those powers are trapped beneath those castles.

I like to think that the Dawn age mirrors what the Egyptians referred to as the First Time or First Age, they also speak of a time when gods walked the earth. Graham Hancock makes a good argument that this refers to an ancient civilazation, that was most likely wiped out by the Younger Dryas impacts. The survivors of this cataclysm would have settled amongst hunter gatherers and would have transfered technology (magic) to them, starting agriculture in places where it did not exist before and possibly erected monuments that could survive future cataclysms and that can tell of these survivors's existance to later generations that found these monuments. Like Gobekli Tepe discovered in Turkey. I think this is what we see in George's world too, through stories and the remnants we see of a more "advanced" civilazation scattered all over Westeros and Essos, e.g Asshai, The Wall, Valyria, the Seastone Chair etc. Our ancient history is also littered with depictions or stories of dragons/snakes/swords coming to earth, which are understood by scholars to represent the comet. Interesting stuff

Maybe Dragons came from comets, like foundation of House Dayne. If proximity to dragons has a causal relationship with the Valyrian qualities, then that would be an alternate explanation for why the Daynes are so Valyrian-seeming as opposed to just them being some cousins of the Targaryens.

I would think the valyrians lied about the origin of dragons being where they were to add to their myth. I believe the black stone comet that brought the rise of the starry wisdom in the empire of the dawn makes the most sense. The empire has a name, but not its people, who were so ancient that their name is likely lost. The rise of dragons cooinciding with that makes the most sense as the bloodstone emperor's rise cooincided with the long night, which parrelels the rise of dragons now under daenarys. She is very similar to bloodstone if you assume the legends were not kind to him. She deals with dark sorcerers, brought chaos to the region she ruled in (not because she was super evil or anything but I suspect bloodstone wasnt either) and in a sense usurped her sibling just as bloodstone did. The dragon meteor thing is also pretty comparable to the legend from qarth. A large hunk or rock floating in space near planetos couldve looked like a second moon, and its crashing to earth would cause it to burn. If this happened during the day time in qarth, it would look like the sun burned it, and if timezones work on planetos as they do irl it couldve been night near the shadow, doubling up on the idea that dragons came out of the shadow, which likely wasnt in the same state as it is now. In fact, if a large meteor hit in the region known as the shadow, it would go a long way to explain why that area is so cursed and desolate. First the destruction of the meteor, then dragons emerge from the crater, and then dark sorceries fueld by the magic from the meteor.

I figured this would be a good forum to ask this question that's been bothering me. Can someone tell me if Bran/Bloodraven can step into any event throughout history. I thought there needed to be a Weirwood Tree nearby to see through its "eyes". Am I understanding this wrong? So basically Bran has the power to step into any place on Westeros/Essos at any point in time? How does he control what he wants to see? And where & when he wants to go. It's not like he can have the Doc set the time controls in the DeLorean.

Most of that is still a little vague...we know the crow can show Bran the whole world without a weirwood, but it seems like you can only use a weirwood to look at things a weirwood can see, and it appears to be any weirwood, as Bran looks through the winterfell one when he is in the cave

"...to wake dragons out of stone." GRRM loves to tease. I see only one possibility, that can literally mean that. "dragons" - plural, "stone" - singlular. One stone, more dragons. As it turns out, there is Mya Stone, young woman, certainly capable of giving birth to more children, with dragon blood (blood of old Valyria). I know it is not this case, but a great tease by the author. Anyway, Summerhall was an inside job, wildfire can not hatch dragon eggs!

I'm really impressed with you guys. I've seen quite a number of good fan-theories before, but you made me realise that GRRM did so much more on purpose. I understand now, what he meant with that writing it was a "bitch" and apparently drained him like doing a PhD. When did you realise that there was far more to his stories than, meets the eye? How often did you read the book? Did you copy out all suspicious references and pinned them on a huge wall with all sorts of threads connecting them?

Haha! Thank you! Well we realized it like a year ago during our third reading, and as we make these videos, we realize it more and more everyday. Every single word is carefully planned, perfectly placed, and it all checks out. He's incredible! We started out with a notebook and now have an entire google drive filled with scripts, ideas, notes, character profiles, etc... it's a bit like homeland but contained in the drive instead of covering our walls! There is NO Dragons under Winterfell because NOBODY saw it! Also, the easy way in which she hatched them in the Pyre was all foretold in the book! The stallion IS Drogon! The dragon has 3 heads!

To be fair, Drogo did not fallow the orders the Mirri gave him and that is why his wound got infected. He died because he was a typical stubborn hard headed male that thought he knew better than the Drs. lol If he had of fallowed her instructions, I do believe he would have healed just fine. Now I also believe that Mirri knew full and well he wasn't going to fallow those directions also and was counting on the ensuing infection.

Had she been a regular Lazhareen healer, I'd tend to agree with you. Knowing she was a student of Marwyn (who clearly wanted to see the rebirth of dragons) it's way likelier that she did all of it on purpose, in order to get fire and blood to wake the dragons. Rhago's death was the sacrifice of King's blood, King's blood being defined by some sort of Targaryen gene: anyone can claim themselves King without their blood being magical, but Targ blood (see: leeches and Edric Storm) definitely has magical properties. For some reason, Mirri knew pregnant Dany would eventually enter the tent. A high enough heat to hatch the eggs - that had begun to live after the blood sacrifice - was achieved by Drogo's funeral pyre. I still have problems with this, namely: how did Dany become immune to fire, and was Mirri expecting she'd die/was it necessary for her to die, for some reason? Yet, I can't help but thinking there was a plan all along to hatch dragons, and that killing Drogo was a means to an end.

owlnemo I also think Mirri hatched the dragons herself not Dang but because Targs arent immune to fire I think Mirri was chanting a spell to protect herself but the fire grew to quick and that was transferred to Dany

do you consider that the dragon fetuses are warging Dany in AGOT? that explains why her personality changes after each dragon dream. it explains why immediately after the dream she and her horse share one mind: the dragon teaches her to skinchange the horse. it explains why she "becomes the dragon" in book 5, it mirrors the rickon being overwhelmed by the wolfs mind. it explains why drogon appears at the fighting pit: she has a skinchanged link (barristans noise explanation is less than ignorant).

When I first read Game of Thrones, I didn't question why Drogo agreed to marry Dany. It wasn't until later I actually began to wonder. Yeah, she's a Targaryen. This is neither here nor there exactly, but the fact that Danny was so young when she got pregnant always bothered me a bit. I get that there was a time in the past where boys became men at age 12 and girls were married off as soon as they "flowered". But I worked at a home for unwed mothers some years back and when we got a 12 or 13 year old girl that was pregnant, they had great difficulty carrying a baby to term, and even when they did, c-sections were required because their bodies were simply too small and young for healthy pregnancies and births. It was so often the case that these young girls lost the pregnancy, or were unable to carry them to term that I can only think of one that didn't have serious complications at the very least. I guess I'm just wondering now if it's that girls that young were different back then, if they are now, or if so many women had troubled pregnancies in medieval times that no one thought to connect the dots to an age issue.

Who's to say? An eclipse may have some sort of effect on the migration/breeding patterns of dragons. So when an eclipse happens, they fill the skies by the hundreds and are seen by thousands of people.

I personally see Dany as more of an embodiment of the Stallion that Mounts the World, but to be totally honest with you, we don't place too much value on specific aspects of prophesies in the story...we see the undertakings they all say the prophesised person will do are too great to be one person...sort of like we've said about Jon being the next sword of the morning and Dawn seems to be lightbringer, but Dany is clearly the one who woke stone dragons, so the prophesy is true, but how it came true isn't if that makes sense
