I have watched numerous videos to no avail. Today, after trying again for an hour I came upon your video. Thank you so much!!!! No one else had ever mentioned pressing "0" a second or third time!!!! All I was missing on all of my initial attempts was pressing that dang "0" a second time The directions said, "If opener does not function, repeat programming." It should say, "If opener does not function, Watch Richard's video!" You made my day.... actually my week!"

Good video: More tips I learned the hard way. 1. Get correct information on what your openers ID code is (in my case it was the number 3 -had a Chamberlean manufacture date 2005 to present with a purple smart button) 2. When entering you 4 digit code of your choosing , hitting # , then hitting door opener ID number (for me 3), then hitting # you have 5 seconds to do this or you must start over. 3. Do NOT attach the keypad first- when setting up- have it 2 feet from the garage door unit box.-helps original setup reception. 4. After the unit is working properly, then attach to the outside of the house. Hope this helps.

You’re the shit man! Was trying to program this for an hour and couldn’t figure it out. The step I missed was the opener ID. Didn’t click to me was the number corresponding to the year was the ID. Close the door. Wait 30 seconds. Clear the memory on the pad. Then redo it. You just about got it!

Incredible_simi Okay I had this same issue. Must have been a timing delay because right after I programmed it I hit the first number and the garage opened. I hit a random number, it closes. Hit another random number and it opened. Got frustrated. Cursed a bit. Came back to this video to read other comments. Tried it again to see and it will not open or close until I use the actual code I put in. Played with it some more and still won’t work without the actual code. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

This is very helpful. IF YOURS STILL DOES NOT WORK... mine didn't either. It was old, and the battery was good, but it wouldn't work. I bought a new one that is the same make/model but newer and put in the same codes as I did earlier and it worked the first time. My old one had yellow lights behind the buttons. New ones are red. I spent an hour thinking I was doing it wrong. I wasn't. It was bad. You're not crazy!

Thank you for showing your manual and not just telling us what your I.D is. Almost all other videos just say "We'll have to know our I.D number or do each step a possible 9 times because it'll be 1-9 till you find your I.D" I was able to pause and look for my number which in our case is 3 being that we have a 2009 model.
