If you have windows you can "garden". If you have some kind of balcony or outdoor area you can garden.... in pots. There are many ways to garden even in the smallest of places :)

@@momof2momof2 You are right, but unfortunately my apartment does not have balconies, the windows are wide but the house is North faced and with a full time job, two children, a husband, two cats and a 300 Lt aquarium is a bit too much for me. Nothing compares to the hands on the dirt and not caring for the mess planting can cause. Inside an apartment every mess I make is for me to clean.

@@lilianamsoares It's your choice what you want to do or don't want to do. Many years ago when I had my first apartment in northern New York, I had a little window garden. It was really just some seeds of a few different kinds planted in coffee cans . I had so much fun with it, and even in winter grew veggies

This past week I followed your Just Do It work ethic and patch worked green indoor-outdoor mini-golf turf on my small south facing cement front porch and added more part-way down the cement driveway. Here in the Arizona Sonoran Desert, our day temps rise into the 90's F; summer is here. I also potted up some herbs: lavenders, thyme, Italian oregano, curly parsley, basil, chives, plus coreopsis and Mexican heather in green plastic pots. Very Cheerful! Our cooler mornings mean I get to spend time out there in the porch shade, sipping my coffee, watching the birds and grateful for the peace and serenity and green coolness. Before I lay the turf, this was an impossibility. Thank you for being you Catherine! You have a lovely motivating manner about you. Be well.

Here in western Canada, I'm painting the garden shed in between windy weather and the occasional short snow flurry lol. We cut our grass this weekend to help promote growth(still brown/a bit of greenery). And right now I'm dreaming & planning the colours and the type of plants I'll be purchasing soon. Going to the garden centre is like a sacred ritual to me lol. I go as early as I can so it's not crowded and noisy and take my time drinking in all the colours and fragrance. It's my happy place. Please keep showing us the progress of your garden and your wonderful DIY's. Happy Gardening.

You need to make a shirt or sign with your cricut that says "easily distracted by plants' 😄 I love ranunculus. I bought some ranunculus bulbs at Dollar Tree but they haven't sprouted yet. So, I found some ranunculus at a local big box store. They had a bit of frost.... so, I cut off the dead leaves and spent blooms and popped them in the ground. Their blooms are gorgeous. I got a deep red, gorgeous orange and a lemony yellow. They are doing so well. Ditto for blue anemone. My husband is color blind and can only see blue. So I created a blue zone in the garden. I already had a balloon flower and added 2 sea hollies, the blue anemone and an agapanthus. Then, yesterday, I found a lithodora, also on clearance. It is blue, low growing, also for the blue zone. I love when plants are hardy. I had two mums and one died back. I put the one in the ground and kept the stub of the other in the pot and , happy day, it's coming back!!!!! I feel so bad when something dies back. I almost killed a Christmas fern, but it is putting out new fronds. Now, I am trying to revive an autumn fern. I had bought them last year and didn't get them in the ground because I broke my elbow in November, but fingers crossed it will come back. My garden is coming along so well. My new motto is from Alexandra from the Middle Sized Garden youtube chanel. "Gardeners learn by Trowel and Error. Have fun growing. Cheers

Good morning Catherine! You have brought the sunshine here with your lovely nature and gorgeous garden! Sitting here with my tea and toasted fruit bread and just absorbing your energy for the day :) (ok, that makes me sound like a vampire.. but you get what I mean). My garden is sadly beyond help. I wrote last year that you inspire me to get out there, but as hard as I try, my garden is basically a no go. Something that is very sad for me as I love to sit out and look after the extended family (plants). And yes, also sadly, plant and pot nicking is a thing. When I moved here I had some lavender in pots near my front door in those lovely ceramic pots you have and within a week it was gone ( they would have had to access my property, walk up the path and along the ramp to get to my door) and also a lovely mini maple tree in an enormous ceramic pot (gift from my sister) went from my old home during the time I was moving. I went to collect it from my enclosed back garden and someone light fingered yoke had already helped themselves. People be nasty and that is one of the reasons why I love your channel. It makes me feel that there are still nice souls out there somewhere. Don't ever change :) x

Would LOVE to see how you'd DIY a mini greenhouse! Dahlia seeds usually take a couple of weeks so I wouldn't be worried about them for a good while yet. Lithops (living stones) have absolutely incredible flowers - spectacular bright colours and surprisingly big but I've never tried growing them from seed so you've inspired me to give it a go. Your pots look lovely - might be an idea to top dress with some gravel-gives them a nice neat look, keeps in moisture and reduces weeds/makes them easier to weed. If you're dunking, gravel on top also stops the compost from drifting up and mucking up the leaves of your plant.

I live in NW Ohio and it’s best for our area to wait until Mother’s Day to plant our flowers (less chance of frost). I live in an apartment but have a balcony that I squeeze as many planted pots on as I can. I also have my mom’s old bakers rack she had outside on my balcony so I fill that up, too. A few weeks ago it was unseasonably warm here and I got my rack, outdoor rug, other decor and my pots out and set up in anticipation! I have lights strung around and three solar lanterns and the space just makes me so happy. I can’t wait to buy my flowers this year!!! Unfortunately I live on a very busy road and the traffic is crazy and loud so I usually don’t sit out there but I do stand at the door and look at it and it just makes me feel cozy, especially at night with the lights on. A few years ago my Dad had an entire truck bed full of pots that he had collected over the years at auctions that he was going to sell to his Amish friends but I got first dibs. There were so many nice ones...a couple huge, unique terracotta pots that I’ve never seen before. I took as many as I could for my little balcony but wished I could have taken more.

I love those large pots...and I saw some here in the US like them. You just made up my mind, I will go get a couple this week. I am also a bird watcher and love them all year long. I only feed them in the winter when food is scarce. If you feed them in the summer you must always feed them in the winter, when they can't find food. They become dependent on you and will always come back to your yard. I also love hummingbirds and feed them too! I'm bird crazy since my dogs have all passed over. Just call me Granny...lol TFS!!! XX

Yes to the zippy greenhouse! I was given several packets of seeds, plants and tomatoes, and planted some of them. I got to the pricking out and potting on stage, but not enough window sills to go around. Zippy to the rescue. At the moment it is indoors by the French doors because we are not past the risk of snow and frost. If you have a sheltered spot, go for it. Make sure the cover is secured. Mine has three tiers, holds about 12 seed trays. You could divide the saxifrage and get more plants x

I love delphiniums in summer. We have so many in the garden every year, they growing next to and in flower beds (there is a little path between, so you walking in between them 😍), so beautiful and the bees love them. Dahlia's do take forever, hence the rhizome to buy. Much faster. I got loads in pot, winter in the shed, summer in the garden. Living stones bloom gorgeous flowers out of the middle between the stone. Stunning. But it will take time. Years. I have seeds, part directly into the garden, part in pots on the warm window ceil, the Lathyrus already sprouted, yay. Now for the weather :O. Your pots are a fourth of the price here, bit jealous XD They do shop for free in my country. My gorgeous hanging baskets were stolen out of my garden. They had to break the garden fence to do so. I don't hang or plant pots anymore in my garden at the street. My back garden is fenced high, to keep my cats in and the plant pot stealing people out. Now if it would stop snowing, showers of hail and deep freezing nights, a bit of sun would do us good.

I have lots of dahlias from seeds they didn't take long to germinate on windowsill but I put plastic over top (the clear plastic trays fruit and veg come in) once sprouted remove top. I potted mine up today as had so many and put them in the plastic mini greenhouses to harden off a bit .

Wow. What a haul. Love the flowers you pick for your garden. I have a lots of day lilies but I have never started them from seeds. I have so many and they drop their seeds every fall and reseed for the spring. I don’t know if they take a long time to germinate. My guess is that they do. Give them a little longer and you may fine they will poke their little heads up soon. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸

Very pretty!!! We don’t plant till after May 20, we can have snow till even till end of May 😝lol. I’m going to use my moms old strainer and coal bucket with holes drilled in it to plant flowers😃

Birdfeeders have to come down here as the black bears are waking up hungry- and they love bird seed! How about doing a cold frame? It is a little easier, you can use one or two old windows.

Yea, A cold frame is a good idea, I do have a dream of how I want my back garden to look, a wide shed, with some raised beds in front x

I so enjoyed that wee extra video your so enthusiastic. Thentray that has germinate is the dahlias ,delphiniums take longer even up to 4 weeks .don't water them to much if the tray looks dry spray with water .can I also say ,when you put things in pots you should leave a good inch between the top of the soil and the top of the pot to allow for watering or the soil will just washnovervthe edge and make a mess xx

Love this haul Catherine, and I am now so inspired to get out in the garden this coming week (if the weather picks up 😆) My grandfather was a fantastic gardener and actually had his bay trees stolen from his garden- some guys came at night and dug them up! A tip to age fresh terracotta pots is to immerse them in rainwater for a couple of weeks. It has to be rainwater because it contains the algae spores you need. A water butt, large birdbath or pond is ideal. Thanks for sharing lovely 💚🌿

You are inspiring. I will get the new plants started this weekend. I just noticed by raspberry bush is budding as well as my apple tree. Soon the roses, I noticed the peonies are coming up and the yarrow is as well.
