The year was 1990 date May 1 venue the Concert Hall in my city. On stage was Gary Moore and he did several encores and this was the final song. He played it with lots of improvisation and feeling that you felt you had gone to Heaven!! He left us way too early.

Gary was one of the greatest guirarists of all time, and with a sound that is unmistakable. His hugely long sustains, deep and amazingoly controlled vibrato, and pure tone set him above almost all others, and where most guitarists plug their guitars into an amp, Gary plugged his right into your heart.

Thanks Pat for doing this reaction, one of my favorite tracks of all time! Can't get the reactors here in the US to do it, most likely copyright garbage. Gary had so much talent, and his TONE was what really made him stand out, he had it perfected! A quick somewhat funny story. When my wife and I first got together, she had some lame ass country song to be "our song". I said hey, listen to this and played for her Gary's Parisienne Walkways and she fell in love with it, and all of his music. To this day, some 25 years later, I can have her mad as a hornet at me, and I'll eventually put that song on and she is sitting on my lap holding my hand! THAT is the power that Gary had!! lmao On a more somber note, she actually cried tears the day he died, because she never got to see him live, and knew then that she never would. A sad day for music, RIP Gary.

Oh man I love Gary Moore. For me personally, he is the greatest of them all. Others will disagree and that is cool, but his music means the world to me. You'll get suggestions for Still Got The Blues and Parisienne Walkways but can I please request the Live Version of Like Angels from 1997. That is one of my all time favourite songs (that no-one has ever reacted to) But as for Gary, his tone and skill are just incredible. I can, and many times have, listen to him all day long. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but that guitar looks suspiciously like his Les Paul Standard, that was given to him by Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) and that now belongs to Kirk Hammett (Metallica)

I agree with you. This version in no way inspires or impresses me the way the original does. Many who listen to this version probably never heard of Roy Buchanan. I get inspiration of Roy over and over. Less nuance, tone, and feel then the original which I have listened to and practiced hundreds of times over the last 40+ years . I will never listen to this version again. I guess I was anticipating something amazing and superior to the original. Probably not during my life time.

Excellent choice Pat! I hope you’ll do his cover of Hendrix’s ‘Red House’ (that I sent you) because: 1) It’s his tribute to Jimi. 2) He can sing the hell out of it too. 3) His guitar playing on this song is just flat out phenomenal! You must hear the original by the great master of the Telecaster guitar Roy Buchanan. From many of the comments all I have to say is many have not heard the original by one of the greats. When talking about tone, feel, warmth, soul, and making a guitar tell the story I would recommend Buchanan over all others. Covers by others that I have heard, thou OK, have failed to capture Buchanan's efforts

There were two "legendary" guitarists here in the DC area...Roy Buchanan, and Danny Gatton. Sadly, in a really shitty shitty twist, both of them chose to end their own lives. Buchanan in somewhat controversial circumstance in the Fairfax County jail after a DUI arrest (something alcohol related if not actually DUI iirc), and Gatton shot himself on his farm in rural Maryland. I wasn't that big of a Roy Buchanan fan, but I saw him a few times. Danny, on the other hand, I saw DOZENS of times through the years. While not a "rock" guitarist, (much more country/Nashville/chicken pickin' style) he was so far in a class by himself that out of town guitarists of all types would come to see him by word of mouth, and leave slack jawed lol. There aren't a whole lot of good videos of him that really capture his sound but here's a couple: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3iqdmd5p7WpoLc and kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4SYiXtuadKgf5Y. They go back a few years lol, and the video quality is shite, but they're worth checking out. As for Gary, he's in my top 3 of all time...I don't need to say much more than that :).
