I am 52 with a dad bod and while I am comfortable at a bar and talking to strangers, I have found that my recent jaunts to the local bathhouse are really very empowering. It has helped me become more comfortable with who I am as a gay man. It’s been a long journey to say the least. I do see the judgement of others but I ignore and avoid those guys because the experience overall is validating.

Someone once asked if I would be uncomfortable running into someone I knew at the bathhouse, especially in the beginning when I wasn’t fully out to everyone. My answer was always, if they were there, they were there for the same reason I was, so it wasn’t a big deal.

I’ve only watched two of ur videos so far, very new to ur channel but I think u forgot a type of guy. The allusive shy guy/the introvert, which is always me at a bath house. We want to be there, we like the environment, we like the anonymous sex, we like being taken out of our comfort zone in a safe environment, all that jazz; however we will never be the one to initiate. That has always been difficult for me especially, I think I’d rather jump in front of a train than be there one to start a conversation, so if u see a shy/introverted guy, please please start a convo with us. Me too. I don't necessarily want to talk (I'm excruciatingly awkward at small talk), but have a hard time flirting and telling if someone is interested in me. A little chat in the hottub to ease my nerves will often be followed by some action. And I always get a room to hide-in when being around people becomes overwhelming and I need to recover.

I was a very shy, curious middle-aged guy with a dad bod during my first visit. I was lucky. I met another guy my age who knew it was my first time and showed me around and explained the basics. He ssid he preferred his men with a little more meat on them, and I relaxed enough for us to enjoy the sling. And the new kid on the sling did attract a bunch of viewers. Never saw the guy again, but appreciate his friendly intro to the baths at Club Pittsburgh.

Steven, I'd love to chat as well, I'm not on Facebook, in fact back in February I had to go off of all social media because of a stalker. Maybe we could set a time and place to meet, my job is extremely flexible so I can go by your schedule. My experience being my parents primary caregiver was the most extremely difficult thing I've ever done but also the most fulfilling thing I've ever done. My duties ended 5 days before Christmas in 2018, and I'm finally starting to come alive, enjoy life and live again this year. I have no regrets shutting myself off from everything from 2005 till basically 2019 because of the memories and knowing that I've done the right thing by my parents. Now I'm rediscovering myself, picking up the pieces and starting my own life over.

It was years ago but the moment when I saw my boss and his husband at my local bathhouse was priceless. I'm a easy going free spirit kind of human being but the look of shock on their face I will never forget. Priceless. Luckily I was able to ease the tension. Also, I've always found it interesting with not just the types of guys at a bathhouse but the general time of day certain types tend frequent there.

I’ve always made it a rule to not go to a bathhouse in my own city. You never know who you’ll run into. IMHO, I’ve found that the bathhouses in Europe or Canada are so much better. The BH tend to be better quality, and the guys are polite and hot.

Once I went to a bath house early in the afternoon and there were very few people there but I went for a wander in the labyrinth and met a very attractive and very well endowed chap and we retired to a room for a very hot session.Afterwards I noticed that the chap had gone out the back into the area reserved for the staff.I asked the person manning the desk if he knew why the man had gone out the back.He replied -Oh that's the owner of the place!

I don't know if this was covered in the comments or not so I'll say it here: My experience in bathhouses has been if you are anything but the "ideal" physique when it comes to gay male culture, you have a much more difficult time in bathhouses than other guys who do. Of course on "bear" nights or "chub" nights or other bathhouse events that may cater to bigger, hairier men the atmosphere changes and it feels more comfortable. Granted, it's been YEARS since I've darkened the doorstep of a bathhouse and things may have changed. But when I used to go to them, being a big hairy man with more than my share of a belly, except for a few VERY notable experiences that ultimately kept me coming back on nights that weren't specifically for "bears", I was invisible. Or I was treated with disgust and contempt. Or flat out ignored. So if things haven't changed, and I have a sinking suspicion they haven't, if you are a big man and are feeling left out in the cold when it comes to your experiences in bathhouses, I would encourage you to ask if they have "bear" or "chub" nights or events that may draw a "bigger men" kind of a crowd. You might have a better experience. Good luck!

"The Tubs" ... I have not heard that term in decades! I am kind of surprised that it is still in use. I was a "tubs queen" way back in the early 1970s. Started at Lions of St marks in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, then the Club Baths Chain facilities in Dallas (amazing wall art!) in 1975-76, Atlanta (1976-1982), and Houston (1982-1995). That was followed by Steamworks in Berkeley, CA, where I was one of the models for their advertising campaign in the late 1990s, and Denver Swim Club in Denver. But I have not been to a traditional bathhouse since leaving Denver in 2006. Your videos reminded me of that unique world, a world in which I was much too comfortable!

Hey Patrick! I’ve been watching your videos for a while and love all of them. Ive never gone to a bathhouse and I’ve been contemplating going to one in Seattle where I live. But listening to friends who told me nothing but tweakers and sketchy guys so I’ve not gone. Instead, at my friends suggestion, I’m going with a few friends on an all gay cruise in a couple weeks. The thought being it will have a higher caliber of hot slutty guys. Basically a floating bathhouse 24 hours a day. It would be great is you created a gay cruise (ship) video. Keep up the great work. My first time was at the East Side Club in NYC during lunch while I was there on business. I was around 30 and nervous as hell. I was approached right away by an attractive older man who after a short introduction ushered me into an unlocked room. We made out quite a bit, dropped our towels and rolled around in the bed. After we “finished” we chatted a while, showered together, got dressed, and had a quick lunch nearby. He gave me his business card and asked me to let him know next time I was in town. He turned out to be an investment banker. I’d only been to a bathhouse two more times, in Jacksonville and Grand Rapids.

I used to go to Steamworks with my partner at the time. We would get a room together. We would then start by wandering around together to get the lay of the land (so to speak). Then we would spend part of the time looking for guys together, and part looking in our own. We were secure enough that if one of us found someone who wanted to play with only one of us, the other would give them time alone. We always ended the night together. We had some great times there

I'm always the Tourist. No bath houses in my city so I like visiting them when I'm abroad and a lot of your videos are very true for American and Canadian bathhouses but bathhouses in different countries are *very* different.

@@ensemblist Well, in Japan they have this weird thing where most guys are in these pretty dark "sleeping" rooms and I'm like, "Is everyone here just to get a nap?" but I read later that they're pretending to be asleep and you're supposed to just get on the mattress and have your way with them, which is kinda weird but also kinda makes sense when you watch Hentai and all the rape fantasies that seem to go on there. In Singapore, the entire maze area is *so* dark that you can't really see who you're hooking up with unless you check them out in the locker rooms first. Did not like it. In Europe, they have much fancier bath houses that are more like what the description describes the older bath houses in New York were like and a lot more people seem to be there to socialize, and you can't really rent your own rooms like in north america. You just kinda find what's available.

Really enjoying these videos. Have you thought about doing a video called tips for those who enjoy backrooms? There's a thing called consent guys to tend to forget the moment they get back there. Whether the reason is that they're drunk/high they seem to have it in the bar but the moment they get into a darkroom they lose their common sense.

I have never been to a bathhouse…and at 58…with, how did someone put it, a dad bod, or maybe in my case a granddad bod, I’m pretty sure I don’t have the self confidence to even show up. However, I know if I did go, I’d never want to leave. I used to make the trip from North Texas to Oklahoma City to the Habana Inn. Ohhhh myyyy…the first time I ever went there, I was mesmerized and had soooo much fun for many years after that first visit. Two bars, a restaurant, and a room with large windows and endless cruising. It was heaven! I got to window shop from inside my room. Fun to reflect on those exciting memories again. Sorry I drifted into that. 🙃😁

My 1 and Only Trip to the Baths, was a Real Trip. 1 Guy I Met was in a Troubled Relationship, and he was Blowing Off Some Steam. The 2nd Guy I Met was there for a No Strings Fling. Both guys Called me Days Later, the 1st Guy was saying " You Could Be The Person To Persuade me to Leave My Boyfriend". Oh Noooooooo. Bachelor # 2 wanted to Date Me. I Passed on both offers. It was like Fantasy Island.
