Absolutely true about all these guys. I had an awful experience once at the Baths. " Seeing someone you know" Mine was my Ex at the time. Very awkward situation because it was not a good break up. I got out of there fast because I didn't want to deal with it. Funny thing, 2 years later we got back together and I married him. We were happily married for 15 years.

I think it’s more about what attitude you bring into the building with you to be honest. Almost every trip I’ve made to Steamworks Toronto has resulted in meeting dozens of really lovely guys. Humanize them, talk to them, and many will respond to that. I’ve never maintained a friendship outside of the baths with any of them but I often run into these guys when I’m there and it’s like seeing an old friend. I’m 53 and these guys range from 20s to older than me. Let people surprise you.

I find bathhouses and saunas to be really depressing. It's demeaning, it's disrespectful, it's filled with despair, it can be scary and dangerous, you often see that most people just walk around again and again and again not finding what they want or not being picked up. It's a humiliating experience. It's often inhumane. Whenever I went I saw some really ugly things, and had some of the worst experiences ever...
