I literally popped in the batteries and pressed the power button and it worked automatically by turning the tv on, didn’t have to enter anything ?.. works for me!

Hi Susie! That's great! You must have a Samsung TV. These universal remotes are preprogrammed for use with Samsung TVs. And, if your remote has an STR or STRM device button, then it's also preprogrammed for use with Roku streaming boxes (not streaming sticks, though). @@JascoProductsCompany I don't think the portable dvd player can be turned off digitally, it just has a mechanical switch, and i tried all the codes i could, if it does have a code, it is from another product, and i would have to go through the entire code section to find it. some codes let a few functions work, although almost alway not the right buttons, for instance in the auto code search, a code could make it so the power button acts as play/pause, and a few other buttons, i could go through every code, but if you knew of any "secret" codes, i'd love to know of them

Hi Ciara! Your GE remote comes preprogrammed for use with Samsung TVs, so no programming should be needed for your TV. Try resetting your remote to factory settings and see if it begins working properly. To reset to factory settings: 1. Press and hold down the SETUP button on the remote until the red light on the remote control turns on. Release the SETUP button. The red light will remain on. 2. Press and release the MUTE button. 3. Press and release the number 0 (zero) button. The red indicator light will flash twice. At that point, your remote has been reset to factory settings. I went through all of the codes and some of them paired some of them didn't but the one problem is all of the codes that did pair whenever i pressed the back button it would send me to the home screen not the previous page before that if you know how to change this can you please reply to this comment thank you.

Hi Angel. To turn each device programmed into your remote off or on, you'll need to press the corresponding device button and then press the power button. For example, to turn on/off the DVD player you've programmed into your remote, press the DVD device button on the remote and then press the remote's power button. No matter which device you wish to operate, you'll want to make sure that corresponding device button (TV, DVD, STR, etc.) is pressed first, so the remote knows which device has been selected. Just keep in mind that the sleep timer feature will only work if the TV you've programmed into the universal remote has a sleep timer feature. Instead, they align with your smart TV or streaming device's built-in apps. For example, if you have programmed a smart TV or streaming device into your universal remote and that device comes programmed with Netflix as the primary app, then the universal remote's app hotkey will open the Netflix app. However, if your smart TV comes programmed with Amazon Prime as the primary app, then the app hotkey will open Amazon Prime. Hi Nathan. Thanks for letting us know. It sounds like you're experiencing partial code functionality. Simply stated, your remote is using a code that only controls some of your device’s functions. Device manufacturers will reuse portions of their codes with alternate models, so there’s most likely another code stored in your remote that will provide better functionality. To locate it, try reprogramming the device using each of the other codes for your device as noted in the code list or try using the automatic code search method. If you'd like to try resetting the remote to factory settings and then testing it to see if it works without additional programming, please follow the steps shown below. Reset to Factory Settings: 1. Press and hold the setup button until the red light stays on, then release it. The red light will remain on. 2. Press and release the mute button. 3. Press and release the 0 (zero) button. The red light will blink twice. Your GE universal remote has now been reset to factory settings and should operate your Samsung TV. Everything works great EXCEPT the guide button, so looking for something to watch and/or change the channel. Its a surprise every channel switch, and with me having an 11 year old kid and a toddler here averaging 5 days a week, surprises for whats on tv is NOT good... i cant figure out how to get the guide button to wirk. I tried all 3 samsung codes but all 3 give me zilch, nada, niente... 🙃😮💨

Regarding the GUIDE button, if your TV's original remote did not have a GUIDE button, then this universal remote's GUIDE button will not work for your TV. The universal remote's buttons will only operate features that were included on the original device remote. If your original TV remote does have a GUIDE button, please call our U.S.-based Consumer Care at 1-800-654-8483, M-F, 7AM-8PM Central Time and we'll be happy to troubleshoot the issue over the phone with you. Additionally, if your universal remote and your original remote both have an INFO button, pressing that will at least show you information about the show you're watching and should include information on what show is coming up next. It just depends on how the broadcaster has that information programmed into their system. Another option is to view the channel guide for your area online at tvguide.com.
