I have a tip to make BLUE! just boil some red cabbage leaves without lid to avoid enhancing the smell. when the water becomes very rich in colour take out the leaves and let it reduce a bit, then add a pinch of bicarbonate of soda and it will more likely stay blue no matter what. hope this helps ^^

I mean, with fruits,I guess we will get a good extra flavour in our recipe but when with vegetables,will our recipes like cupcakes and etc taste good? Pls give a reply it would be helpful.Thx and as always I love ur videos. 😊

I made red food dye with your tutorial. Thank you so much, Gemma! I plan to bake something red velvet themed for my brother :) I think purple cabbages could be a great source for a food dye (adding acidic and/or alkali substances will alter its color too! Vinegar makes it pink or red, while baking soda will turn it green or light blue), although not many people are a huge fan of the vegetable itself :)

There is no way that turmeric can not give any smell or taste to the baking. when I add a little turmeric to my food, I can feel the difference even though there are other strong flavours of meat or vegetable in the food. Great job! As an alternative baker I love seeing fellow bakers using what nature gave us in unique ways. I have used most of these methods and they do work especially well in frostings and toppings, but have you found that when you bake with them the color doesn't stay as vibrant? I have tried multiple times to make a true red velvet cake using beet as my coloring and I can get the batter to be a vibrant bold red but during the baking it seems to almost deactivate the coloring somehow....any thoughts

I wouldn't mind if it affects the flavor a little. At least it's food, unlike those dangerous cancer-causing chemicals in food dyes. Food Dyes Linked to Cancer, ADHD, Allergies - www.foodsafetynews.com/2010/07/popular-food-dyes-linked-to-cancer-adhd-and-allergies/#.WthSuS7wZdg Rainbow Risks: 6 Artificial Food Colors You Need To Know About - www.rd.com/health/conditions/rainbow-risks-6-artificial-food-colors-you-need-to-know-about/ Food Dye Colors to Watch Out For Some of the most dangerous color additives currently in use are: Blue #1 (Brilliant Blue) - found primarily in baked goods, beverages, and cereals. It caused kidney tumors in laboratory mice. Blue #2 (Indigo Carmine) - colorant in candies, pet food, and other items. Shown to cause brain tumors in rats. Green #3 (Fast Green) - found in many cosmetics, candy, and drugs. Increases tumors of the bladder and testes in male rats. Red #3 (Erythrosine) - colors maraschino cherries, baked goods, and candy. Banned by the FDA for causing thyroid tumors when used in externally applied cosmetics and topical drugs. Red #40 (Allura Red) - the most widely used dye found in cereals, desserts, drugs, and cosmetics. Yellow #5 (Tartrazine) - found in any number of baked goods, cereal, gelatin products, and dessert powders. Causes severe hypersensitivity and triggers hyperactivity disorders and other behavioral issues in children. Yellow #6 (Sunset Yellow) - Used in beverages, desserts, gelatin, candy, and even sausage. Found to cause adrenal tumors and trigger severe hyperactivity in children. Unfortunately, these food dyes are so commonly used, particularly in food aimed at children, that parents don’t even consider the dangers. Rainbow cereals, blue energy drinks, electric-orange cheese flavored snacks are commonplace on supermarket shelves and usually inexpensive as well. MsUn PC problem is you really love those flavors. someone like me who is not a big garlic eater, you can knock me over with your breath alone from eating that. garlic lovers dont seem to understand their breath stinks, and you stink more when you sweat! that is a pure fact. you think its sweet like sugar, but you could scare Dracula with that breath darling!

Um...I just wanted to ask: how would the flavours not be present in your food? Especially since I'm making macarons and ran out of food coloring, what else can I use?
@biggerbolderbaking
@biggerbolderbaking 5 жыл бұрын
The baking does cook out the flavors, but retain the colors. For macarons, gel based coloring or powder coloring is best. as the regular food color would change the consistency of the batter.

Tons of people have made it and loved it! Frozen blueberries would be a great idea. Just make sure they're pureed nice and fine like these ones so you don't get any bits.
