When programming the second garage door opener, a separate code is not programmed for the second door. Do they both open using the same code? How does it know which door should open (or do they both open at the same time)?

I got mine coded and working for my Chamberlain opened. Mounted it to the frame outside my garage door. Entered the code and the door closed. Entered the code and the door would not open. Reprogrammed 3 times to see if this was an error on my part. It was not. Each time I would close the door with the remote outside of the garage it would refuse to open. If I took the remote inside the garage the remote worked fine. Very disappointed.

*** FYI= have a LiftMaster (red learn) had to push the button x2 then up/down repeatedly to get it functioning...

Is this an accurate statement? "Programming will not be lost after replacing batteries and programming is complete" After two years (around the time battery replacement is recommended) the unit will no longer open the door and exhibits the same behavior with fresh batteries. I have seen various references to the units losing their programming when batteries die or are replaced as well (which is contrary to the information in this video).

There were 2 different variations of this keypad, if you have the original version, then no, (separate video), if you have this exact version, then yes it should save the programming upon battery removal.

Do not follow this video if you have a Liftmaster opener. Read the written instructions. This video’s instructions are very different from what is written in the instructions for this model.Clear first by holding program button then arrows until you hear a tone then skip to the section in step 3 that says “ONLY for ID#4 Chamberlain/Liftmaster/Craftsman.

I’ve got a lift master red button. While programming I can get lights to register program but never the door.

Does not work with 1997 liftmaster, the lightbulb flickers but garage door doesn’t budge.. and keypad doesn’t seem to save the code because all I see is red lights .. I got blue lights on it before but it don’t mean anything from what I can tell

This does not work with Chamberlain ORANGE button like it says it's supposed to. Light bulb flickers and acts like it should work but door never moves. It would be nice if Genie left a follow up comment on this topic that was listed earlier.

My garage won’t open or close .. the light blinks as if it syncs but only the garage door opener that’s been with house since it was built will open it

@Calvin Ducalv Hello Calvin. I just spent an hour with this keypad and my Liftmaster opener too. I followed the directions to the letter four times and the door opener would not operate. Being extremely frustrated I called the Genie customer service number on the direction sheet. After waiting 30 minutes, i finally reached a representative. She gave me a “Secret” code of 357 to enter which then allowed me to program the keypad as per the directions.NOWHERE in the printed directions that came with the opener OR IN THIS VIDEO do they say anything about entering 357 before programming it. For anyone else trying to program the keypad, call Genie customer service before you throw the keypad away or return it as inoperable. Having this problem tonight, I will never buy a Genie product again.

Got mine at Home Depot. Struggling to get it coded, as it seems my garage door opener is not an option on the list. It is a dip switch style motor, 9 slot 3 position. It’s an old craftsman motor. Does Genie have any tips?

Absolute garbage. I followed the printed instructions to a tee a multitude of times over. After figuring out what was clearly wrong in the printed instructions I was able to get my garage door opener (1998 Raynor Pilot, Red learn button) to open as a result of the universal keypad and I would wait for the learn process to time out.... but then it wouldn't open the door again! I went through the process countless times trying every variation I could think of and it would never learn my garage door opener. Ultimately I found a good use for the keypad when I smashed it to bits. Check the other comments, not a very good track record for this keypad.

Might want to add in your products description that the opener must have a learn program button to work. What a waste of time. My Genie opener is date 1995 and has no such option.

If someone tries to get into your garage door and they push the home button bunch of buttons on the keypad, it actually messes it completely up and it does not work so you have to reprogram it every time even if you put the codes in incorrectly, it messes it up. This is the biggest piece of junk ever.

The keypad should not stop working even if a incorrect code is put in. Once all the lights go out, you can re-enter the correct code. If someone does reset the keypad with the reset process, you would have to reprogram it. They would have to be pressing the program key and holding in the up/down arrow at the same time until all the lights go out.
