As someone diagnosed with ADHD, I connect with this video on a deep level. Your emphasis on accurate diagnosis, professional help, and practical strategies like setting measurable goals, and utilizing productivity tools provided valuable guidance for managing ADHD. Thank you for creating such an informative and impactful video. You're a big inspo!

Two quotes I've really liked on this topic: "It's not my fault, but it's my responsibility" "It's an explanation, not an excuse". Honestly, your productivity advice seems way more impressive once I knew you have ADHD.

I've never been diagnosed with any kind of mental thing. Hey I'm Indian, mental stuff that doesn't exist, it's all in ur head. When Ruri described ADHD at first I was like wait I feel like I've been understood and felt good that my issues and inabilities are being addressed. Thank You very much for the video Ruri. This is the most closest to my heart kind of video.

Indian here. Read Driven to Distraction by Dr. Edward Hallowell. It was an eye opener for me, as adhd is not diagnosed in India much. The video creator here has used another of his books as a base for this video.

Same here, ADHD with Asperger and formerly panic attacks, which I surpassed over the years. I agree that even a small thing like starting a day is a huge struggle... Not to mention being productive. I'm 35, and very recently, I found out that I have a thing for writing and making short movies, and I'm easily entering hyperfocus while I'm doing these things; that is what kicked me out of my bed and did something useful instead of watching anime or movies the whole day :) I hope you'll find what you are passionate about, keep trying! :) Oh, and white noise in the background the whole day is a great support for me :)

When I was in my 50's I finally found out that I had ADHD after reading a book "Why Johnny Can't Learn". It was a mirror account of how I was successful in elementary school, only to have my grades crushed in Middle School and beyond and into my 70's. But I refuse to give up on a fulfilled life. When you feel exhaustion setting in, it is time to withdraw and restore yourself. If you feel demoralized, it is best to pause and recenter instead of acting from a place of depletion. If you can find time to unplug, do it. Reconnect with yourself in a big way if you can. And if you can’t, you can still recenter through tiny steps. Reclaim your first mountain here by committing to hydration, rest, nutrition, and movement, even in the tiniest amounts. Keep at it, and a natural rebalancing will begin.😮

Hi Ruri! I find that I can set goals and maintain longer-term visions of up to 1 to 2 x years. However I was raised in a disciplinarian environment via Air Force Cadets and I was raised this way due to high functioning Aspergers. In general, I find that I tend to struggle to track goals and progress. Focusing mostly on outcomes like KPIs even though life isn't a business. But life isn't linear which requires some elements of spontaniety to react to. Sending out the love from down under. My fellow colleagues and watch your videos and always find inspiration and insight into what you put into your work. Love from Down Under ... i.e. Australia 😊

I like how you added more of your genuine character in this video. Of course this is still probably some version of KZbin persona, but in this one it felt the most sincere. I somehow managed to align my ADHD and my learning needs at the moment. And all of those advices that you gave are extremely good, but I had to come up with all of those by myself, through trial and error. The only thing that is remotely close to being a solution for me, is building a routine around it. Routine of doing something at least 5 minutes, removing everything that can steal the attention just out of my sight. Sometimes it's okay to do your work for 5 minutes and call it a day. But most of the time I get this flow state and can do the seemingly monotonous work/studying for hours while ignoring both hunger and tiredness until my head explodes. And I added some things that I tend to be distracted with to my routine. For example, guitar playing. It's much harder to play for hours instead of doing work when you feel like you are obligated to be playing the guitar daily. Sometimes I play for 5 minutes to fulfill the quota and put it back. And it's okay. The biggest thing is that you should have a mindset of CULTIVATING the work flow instead of trying to just sit and work hard. Being consistent is king. It's better to be consistent with being able to do 5 minutes of work every day instead of being able to work 35 minutes but ones a week. But trust me, once you allow yourself to start small, you will find yourself doing hours of work just out of the blue. One of the biggest challenges of having ADHD, is hating yourself for having it and for not having a "normal" brain. Once you stop approaching yourself like a regular person would and accept your brain having it's limitations, and start to work around it, it will remove much of the pressure and make you be able to use it to your benefit.

I have been diagnosed in 4th grade and I had actually forgotten about it until I got into high school and struggled so hard with it to a point where people sort of diagnosed me with ADHD. That’s when it hit me that I got diagnosed years ago and I looked more into it, realizing that most of the things I struggled with in middle school and at that point in life came from my ADHD. It’s all connected. I just finished high school this year and I had honestly kind of stopped caring about my ADHD again because although I struggle a lot with it at times, I’m too lazy to do anything like therapy or medication. Now I’m watching this and it shows me again how ADHD is controlling my whole life. I’m just halfway through the video but especially the part about connecting to others hit hard, as I’ve never heard of this in relation to ADHD. I literally depend on being able to play video games with my online friends every single day. I mean I can take a break one or two days but if someone told me I had to stop ultimately, I would not survive. I currently watch all these videos about quitting social media or even technology and it’s all nice until they hit me with “quit videogames”. Of course it’s not productive but it makes me more than just happy. It makes me feel connected to people in a fun environment. I even force myself to play games I don’t love, because the “pain” of playing that game is a lot less than the pleasure of connecting with my friends, so it’s 100% worth every second of it. I’m so happy this finally makes me sound less like an insane person. Especially at times where I couldn’t understand how someone could tell me they don’t feel like playing tonight because the game is no fun. For me, this game doesn’t matter, the connection is everything. Now I finally know it is different for me than for “regular people”. I feel appreciated by this video and the information it gave me made it easier to love myself more and criticize myself less. Thank you ❤️

In our journey, there comes a time when we seek the reassuring voice of someone who has walked our path before, reminding us that it's perfectly alright to encounter challenges. For no soul traverses this existence unscathed by tribulations. So, I'm 36 in August and I was diagnosed with ADHD 30 years ago. I never did any of the things mentioned in the video; unfortunately, I was diagnosed at a time where it was seen as a nonsense condition, and nobody really knew how to deal with it, particularly in someone so young, so I was told that I should just get over it, stop being so difficult, and grow up. You don't outgrow it. It doesn't go away, and I never had professional help or the support base to deal with it effectively; I just had to get on with life the best way I could, which is probably why I'm unemployed and still living with my parents at my age. Don't get me wrong, it's not been all bad. I've developed skills and mental attitudes to help me focus even on things that don't interest me, which is how I'm getting through the course work for my degree, but it's not easy and I've found that, in addition to mental effort, it takes considerable physical effort for me to stay focused, the net result is that I'm mentally and physically exhausted after a long day of studying. I've been looking into ways to promote quality sleep, which is crucial for productive studying, and I'll be trying some of the tips out in this video out. I'd love to let you know how it goes.
